The old home is in a Beautiful setting sitting back in the woods off of a winding driveway. There are screened in porch’s adorned with rockers overlooking the expansive grassed yard and a Stunning Kousa dogwood tree. The home is stocked with just everything you may possibly need. We just LOVED IT!

We didn’t receive full check-in instructions prior to arriving and the WiFi network and password that was visible in the messages we did have were outdated which meant we had to turn back and drive a while to get cell signal and call the host. After check-in the place was great for a couple night stay for my wife and I and our dogs. I’d definitely recommend the place except for the check in experience.

Our four-day stay was serene - the beds were so comfortable it was hard to get up and leave, but the surrounding area was definitely worth putting on our boots. The dogs loved the yard, and my husband relaxed in front of the fireplace for most of the stay. We enjoyed the local fall activities, you name it, it was happening! Perfect.

We booked this house for our weekend getaway to Graves Mountain Apple Festival. Good location , very peaceful and quiet location. The house was very clean and had everything you could ever need especially in the kitchen. We used the gas grill and fire pit in the yard both nights . Very cozy living room! Would definitely come back!

Great Stay

We had a wonderful time staying in the cabin, It is well off the road and private with lots of nice outside space. Just a three minute drive from the White Oak Canyon trailhead. The kitchen is well-stocked with all you could need to cook your means and the living room well-furnished for comfy evenings around the fire.

Another great stay in the Shenandoah!

This was our second stay at Gary's house. Everything was perfect and this trip was even better than last year's. Great house, fire pit and grill - and easy proximity to White Oak Canyon and Old Rag. We'll be back next year!

Fall weekend away

Had a wonderful stay. Spent loads of time around the fireplace, played loads of games and hiked Shenandoah. Loved the configuration of the house, the kitchen was well stocked with dishes, cookware, spices and aluminum foil which is rare for a rare but greatly appreciated!

Wedding Guests

This home was the perfect distance from our friends' wedding venue. Although we initially had a minor issue getting into the home, once inside we were pleased to find it very clean and ready for our weekend stay. The driveway getting there is a bit narrow with branches (and as promised, narrow turn around space at the top of the hill), but the yard is open and inviting.

We live full time in Florida, but we have been visiting Virginia at least yearly for over 45 years. So when this property became available 16 years ago, we fell in love with it and bought it. Since I retired in 2022, we have been to Virginia 6-7 times a year.

Varför värden valde detta boende

Because ORMR is so close to Shenandoah National Park, we see a lot of wildlife. Deer sightings are a daily things. We haven't seen bears since one destroyed our bird feeder. Turkey and foxes are pretty common sightings. Because of the elevation, it is usually five degrees cooler than in Madison, or even the bottom land of Syria.

Vad som gör detta boende unikt

I think we are most different from the rentals around us is the house size. Not counting the basement or porches, the house is about 2300 sq ft. The most positive comments we get are about the upstairs master bedroom and bath. My favorite room is the screen porch. Many comment on how quiet it is. Just resting on the porch with ice tea in hand is what I enjoy most.
