The Ruff Seas was originally built as a fisherman’s cottage after hurricane Hazel. The house is on the woodland side of the island and a quick 7 minute walk to beach. This lot has an extra relaxed feel, as a neighboring lot is undeveloped. The cottage sits back from the street. Behind a picket fence is the porch and it is truly wonderful with floor to ceiling screening and unobstructed views of the flora and fauna.
coming in off the porch you enter a very comfortable and open living area that flows into a huge dining table and kitchen beyond.
There are so many extras..... A Carport to bring the groceries in when it rains or to put new wax on your surfboard. Outdoor shower to rinse off you and the seashells. Gas grill to prepare that fresh caught flounder.

Perfect spot!

This property feels like home. Everything is clean, of quality, and functional. The kitchen is well-equipped and easy to navigate. The beds great, the screened porch delightful, the location great access to beach and pickleball.Can’t say enough about this great spot!

Charming, cozy, amazing!!!

We absolutely loved our stay! The home was the perfect size for our family of 4 (2 kids under 4). It really had everything we could ask for and more! Every little kitchen utensil, nontoxic cleaning products, thoughtful touches, beach gear, the most amazing screened-in porch, and wonderful access to the beach, grocery stores, and restaurants.The outdoor shower was perfect for after beach rinsing, and the cooler backpack was clutch! We cannot wait to come back!

Perfect!!!

This rental was over the top! All the extras made this rental totally fabulous . Of all the rentals we have stayed in for the past few years, this one was exceptionally well equipped to the point we didn’t even have to unpack some of the items we travel with. The unit was clean, listing was spot on. Communication with owner was great. Location was excellent. . I would definitely go back again and again. Thanks so much for making our mini vacation, not only memorable, but stress free.

Wonderfuly stocked house

We srived just before the huricqin made landfall and had to spend a few days more in the house then planed but this house had everything you could think of needing stocked, games/books, cooking items all amazing.

So many extras, no need to overpack for a small group

My group had three adults and we loved this house! Close to the beach and the public beach access, kitchen was stocked with essentials, and the screened in porch was perfect for morning coffee and late night hanging out. The cherry on top was the beachsupplies

Oak Island Getaway

Peaceful location. The house was very clean and charming. It was well equipped as if you lived there yourself. Close enough to the beach if you decided to walk. Good location to get to shops/stores for any of your needs.

A girls weekend to remember

It’s not often that you become close enough with your coworkers that you’re able to have a beach weekend with them, but I’m lucky enough to call my marketing girls my sisters :) This weekend is just what we all needed and it was a wonderful time. This home is so warm and inviting and is the perfect place for making memories. It’s close enough to all of the great restaurants on Oak Island and close enough to walk to the ocean to watch the sunrise. I’m counting down the days until we can come back!

I felt like a VIP!

We can't say enough good things about this place we were incredibly impressed! Anything you could possibly need or imagine for a beach visit is available for you. A cooler, even a big bag of ice in the freezer for the cooler, sunscreen, towels, chairs, cabana, beach games, you name and it's already there! All you have to do is get your self there and the rest is provided. I especially loved the screened in porch and would sit out there each morning and drink my coffee and watch the news. Don't even get me started on the kitchen I could go all day. But if you need it rest assured they have every utensil, gadget, pot you could imagine. It was such a pleasure staying there and the location was perfect, just a 7 minute walk to the beach. When we return to Oak Island this place is the first place I'm trying to book if we're that lucky again. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!! Anyone reading this review considering to stay, do it! You will be glad you did!

Piece of paradise

This property is flawless. Extremely accurate description and the cleanest place we’ve stayed at the beach. The screened in front porch is great to enjoy morning coffee or a late night bourbon. The kitchen has everything you’d need to make a nice dinner. We will try to get this house at every oak island stay from here on out

Great place to stay for quick beach trip

Very comfortable place to stay. The amenities are thoughtful - every time I thought we needed something there it was - vacuum, washer, extension cords and outlets where you need them. Even kid books and toys for my young son. Communication was easy to revise our booking and check in and check out was a breeze. We would stay here again!

Home Away From Home

We enjoyed every minute of our stay a The Ruff Seas. We had everything we needed. We could not be happier! Craig is an excellent host. Leaving was our saddest part of our short little get away. Hope we can return real soon!

Excellent stay and location

My frequents and family enjoyed our stay at Craigs house! He was super responsive when we had any questions. The houses amenities were great and it was in perfect walking distance to ice cream, playgrounds and restaurants! Will definitely be staying again!

Great place to stay

The home was as it appears in the photos. We loved the screened in porch. The home was clean and had a lot of amenities. The neighborhood is quiet. The only draw back was the actual distance to the ocean- you could walk it- but you have to cross a busy road. We were lucky enough to have family also visiting that had a rental that was beach front- so we didn’t have to make that walk or have to pay for parking if we drove over to the public parking. This was our first time here/ so I was not familiar with the area. The owner does provide a beach wagon- so if you have to walk to the beach that is helpful. Overall this home was very nice and clean and would recommend. The owner was available and responded quickly to any questions or concerns.

Perfect little cottage

My sister and I enjoyed our get-away at Oak Island. This house was perfect for the 2 of us. We LOVED the setting, and practically lived on the front porch. The house is well furnished and the kitchen has everything you would need for your stay.
