• Water: Our water comes from a shared underground well and may have a light sulfur scent, though it is perfectly safe to drink. We’ve installed triple ozone, multi-stage filtration, and reverse osmosis systems in both kitchens for purified drinking water. If you prefer city water, we recommend staying in town.
• Access: All-wheel drive is recommended year-round, especially in winter. The home is reached via 800 ft of unpaved road leading to our private gravel drive.
• EV Charging: Complimentary Level 2 EV charger (NEMA 10-30) with Tesla adapter available in the carport.
• Pets: Subject to pre-approval, $100 per pet. Please provide pet type when booking.

House in the Woods

Charming home located a little distance from the city was perfect for our family. The two separate units that make up the accommodations were clean and welcoming, with all the amenities that you could need. Would stay here again

Family Event

This property was great. There were two separate units which allowed us privacy when needed, but allowed us to gather in the common area. We had everything we needed for a relaxing time, which included a barbeque. Our check in took a few minutes as the entry codes were not provided until asked for, and we were unclear on our checkout about the linens as the host did not respond to our questions. Overall a great experience.

Casa de Vaca stay

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful property. We really enjoyed the fact that they are two different buildings, giving some extra privacy to the group. The location is exceptional and all the services were spot on. I also loved the fact that it is a pet friendly property and that the owner is very considerate and nice about it! Communicating with the host was super easy and cordial. I recommend it 100%.

Family Gathering

This property is lovely. The night sky is amazing and the home is clean, cozy and inviting. It felt like we were in a beautiful remote location but close enough to Santa Fe to enjoy the city and attend the Santa Fe Opera. 100% recommend.

Great place!

We had a fantastic time! The place is beautiful and spacious and very easy to use. The outdoor space was phenomenal, I wish we’d had more time to use it. I saw in some other reviews that the drive up was a little sketchy for low profile cars and it definitely was. But it’s manageable once you figure it out. We’d definitely come back here, it was a wonderful stay!

What a great property!

We had a group of 6 stay here and had a fabulous time. The place was very clean and very well stocked. We had the opportunity to meet Diana and Cory and their son. They cared very much about us having a great experience. The property is one of a kind, great patios, sunroom and kitchen. It’s about 20 minutes outside of Santa Fe which was perfect for us. We loved seeing the Milky Way above us and pretty sunrises in the morning. I highly recommend this property.

Out of town a ways

House was great. A little inconvenient to get between the one house with 2 bedrooms and the other house with the loft by having to go outside. Overall i wiuld stay there again but make sure that if you come in the winter that the road to the house gets covered in snow and is hard to get up without a 4x4 vehicle.

Fabulous, spacious and lovely!

We had a group of seven of us (family) to stay at this lovely home close to Santa Fe. It was just what we expected with extra living room, cozy bedrooms and updated bathrooms. We never felt crowded. The owner was in constant communication with us, plus had a helpful book of ideas at the home. We felt close to the city of Santa Fe, yet we could enjoy a quiet retreat in the hills with spectacular views. We could even see the stars at night. I would highly recommend!!! We would definitely come back.

Santa Fe Gem

My wife and I spent the weekend in Santa Fe and absolutely enjoyed our time. This was our first visit and certainly won’t be our last. We wanted to have a nice quiet get away from the hustle and bustle of town and Casa de la Vaca was the perfect spot. It had recently snowed so the mountains looked beautiful. The house couldn’t have been more cozy, warm and perfect for star gazing. We flew in to Albuquerque and Diana provided us with wonderful directions, great recommendations for dinner and local breakfast Casa Fina nearby was a hit with my wife! We did not plan to ski, but as luck would have it Santa Fe had a great snowfall and Cory the owner checked in on us and took us up to ski Santa Fe. Apparently he loves to ski and was a gracious host. Thank you Diana and Cory, we will definitely be back again.

Santa Fe Oasis

This property was so beautiful & unique. High enough in the mountains to enjoy views & wildlife but close enough to town to enjoy everything else Santa Fe has to offer. We rented both sides so space was plentiful for 6 people. House was very clean and pet friendly. The kitchens were fully stocked. One of the bedrooms in the two bedroom unit has a curtain as entry door. Not an issue for us but could be if you are traveling with couples. Property owner was very welcoming and readily available for any questions. We would definitely return to stay again.

Cory and I met in Chicago. We would visit the southwest where I was born and raised and he would often ask, “Why don’t we live here”? Granted we were usually escaping the Chicago winter and enjoying 60-degree weather. We eventually moved back to my hometown of El Paso, Texas for family reasons where we have lived for the past 10 years. Cory being an adrenaline junkie loves all things outdoors. Although, he loves the El Paso desert and the 330+ days of sunshine (so he can downhill mountain bike and ride motorcycles), he also craves the winter slopes. Our 11-year-old son is doing a great job of keeping up with Cory on the black diamonds. We found the perfect compromise when we landed on Casa de la Vaca in Santa Fe! A beautiful, serene mountain get away nestled in the foothills of magical Canoncito. It’s a short drive for us and we love to stop along the way in Albuquerque. It is so kid friendly that we do trips to the museums, Explora, zoo, Mama’s minerals and our favorite Sawmill Market. In the summer, we can escape the heat in EP and with so much to do in Santa Fe we have a great place to visit all year round. We couldn’t be more excited to enjoy our second home and share it with family & friends and now thanks to platforms like VRBO with guests when we are not in town. A bit of a win, win. We love to travel and enjoy good cuisine, so Santa Fe really fits the bill. There are so many great restaurants, hiking trails, museums, spas, festivals, the opera, skiing, farmer’s markets, the second largest art market in the country, nearby Taos and Chimayo and the list goes on and on. It really is a cosmopolitan gem in the high desert. The VRBO vacation rental opportunity has allowed us to do what we love; meet new people, travel, and share our stories. This home is ideal when staying with another family and want added privacy. This gem is perfect for three couples or a family, for family gatherings or retreats. Nestled up in the foothills with panoramic views sits this Canoncito/Santa Fe Charm house on secluded 5 acres, just a mere 15 miles (20-minute drive) to Santa Fe’s historic downtown plaza. Serene and exquisite, you will encounter majestic Mountain views and with almost no light pollution you will experience the most incredible evening star gazing! You will be surrounded by gorgeous local plants, flowers, hummingbirds, and pines. This peaceful sanctuary is surrounded with birds and wildlife. Enjoy the gas grill, patio seating, break out the yoga mats and take in the breathtaking views! Namaste. All-wheel drive is always recommended especially during winter months, in case of snow. We also have the absolute best internet -100mbps for Canoncito. So, if you must work you can do so without a problem. The smart TV is available for use with your personal streaming platforms. Other things to note: Cuisine -We love to cook and have some essentials in the kitchen for your convenience. At the nearby Eldorado community, you can find gas, and groceries at the Agora market. There are also a few local eateries we like to support. Of course, we have Whole Foods, Trader Joes's and other chain supermarkets in downtown Santa Fe. You happen to be in one of the food capitals of the world so take advantage of the amazing cuisine that Santa Fe has to offer. Pets: We welcome well-behaved pooches. Sorry, felines only dogs are allowed. Pets are allowed with advanced approval at $100 per pet. This fee is included as we take added measures to thoroughly disinfect and sanitize the home to ensure there is no trace of a pet after each stay. We appreciate your cooperation in crating your pets when left alone and not allowing them on any furniture. We know our pets are family and we want them to travel with us, we have a cockapoo of our own, so we know. We also need to ensure that we respect all of our guests who may have sensitives or allergies and strive to deliver the best experience in our homes. Nature and your surroundings: You are surrounded by a 4,000 acres nature preserve with miles upon miles of hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails. These trails are very well marked and range from easy strolls to more strenuous hikes. As you drive down Ojo da la Vaca road you will see two areas to park to access the trail heads. We have hiking sticks available during your stay, adjust them and set out and explore. The items in the house are for our guests, so please feel free to enjoy. After a full day feel free to set up the portable massage table which has disposable covers for the headrest. There are also top rated spas in Santa Fe to choose from.
