NO Air Conditioning

The unit was without air conditioning! Apparently the AC quit working right before we arrived, but we were never notified. They put in portable units, one downstairs and one upstairs (installed incorrectly with painters tape), but they were not cooling the area. I asked about any other available properties and was told an AC repairman was set to come replace the one part that was broken. I requested fans to help and they did send stand up fans. The AC repairman evaluated the system again a few days later and said another part was needed. While there, he must have turned other breakers off because the kitchen lights did not work when we returned to the place. The AC never was repaired during our stay (July 19th-27th). Full disclosure of the state of the AC was not communicated to us. No offer was made to move to a unit with working AC (all of the other units in our building had working AC), nor was an offer of compensation of a discounted rate or any adjustment made to the cost of the stay. I thought renting from a reputable real estate agency (Coldwell Banker) the property would have been better managed.

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: When renting a once in a lifetime property from thousands of miles away-for thousands of dollars-you’re dependent on the description and pictures to portray an accurate representation of the unit. Looked amazing.Rental is marketed and priced as a premium luxury rental. Pics were not representative of actual condition. Ground level-so you get all the creepy crawlers. Not unexpected. Not super clean upon arrival-if you pay a cleaning fee, it should be clean for next guest. Sand, mold (mildew according to staff) prevalent. Condo is being sold so not stocked as most, artwork removed but nails/screws remained, furniture on lanai was damaged and spartan at best, the biggest rats nest of wires I’ve ever seen running between tv and Wi-Fi router. The pics were obviously staged and excluded mold, damage to doors and warped floors. And, while the unit is a bit aged and needs updating (we’re okay with that)-the dings, scratches, haphazard non-matching paint touch up, chips/dings in the wall, screws and nails where artwork once hung, door damage, tangled rats nest of wires not evident in rental listing pics, must and mold make for a less than pleasant experience. You can’t advertise this as luxury accommodations-which it was. The main living room ceiling fan was so loud that it’s distracting and we didn’t use it. The upstairs bathroom toilet barely flushes and when reported-were told to hold it down longer-didn’t help. Rental agent very responsive to our concerns-restaurant gift card was their response. The real problem was the way it was presented-letting our guest relations contact know about damage that we didn’t incur-we were told they knew and were working to fix those things. If that is true-it shouldn’t been advertised as a premium rental at a premium price. We committed to rent the property but it wasn’t close to our expectations nor were they willing to help. Poorly Managed

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Kapalua was great, however, the Villa was less than desirable and the management was misleading and not helpful.
