Beautiful property with the best view in the back. Waking up to the calmness of the water before the storm came in. The hosts had great communication and were very responsive. I would recommend this place to anyone.

The home was lovely, structurally. The inside was very worn out and the amenities were also worn out.The property was shared and guests had their belongings and trash all over the shared porch.

My family and I have been vacationing in Sylvan Beach for the past 10 years, and had outgrown our previous rental. The space was just what we were looking for to accommodate all ten of us comfortably, including our two dogs. The kitchen space also had many essentials, and the beds were very comfortable. The outdoor space could use some touch ups and cleaning and only one hot tub was operating during our stay, but all of the other guests in the shared outdoor spaces were kind and respectful. There was a large surge of non-biting bugs (sandflies?), which is common this time of year; however, many got inside due to a crack in the window. This was communicated, and responses were very timely. We are excited to return to this property next year!

Family trip

Property was very comfortable. Note that there is only one full bathroom. Owners were very responsive and accommodating! Cleaning staff very helpful as well.

Rental needs maintenance

First rental was double booked. Had to move to a different location . Rain water poured through the living room ceiling. Was awakened all night from the roof coming off structure from high winds.

Comfortable and pleasant environment

This was our 40th year vacationing at Sylvan Beach. Our first year was at the Oneida and several years since. We have witness many remodels of the property over the year. We enjoy the location and the access to the beach. Beds are comfortable and kitchen is well stocked. Unfortunately, there is a major issue with the upstairs shower leaking into the downstairs bathroom, making the floor dangerous and flooding the light fixture and making it short out. I would recommend that more towel fixtures and or hooks be added to rooms for hanging towels and clothing. There is also a need for hand rails in the bathrooms and on the deck and beach steps for handicap visitors.

Disappointing Overall

Unfortunately this unit was far from ideal. First, there is no air conditioning in the main living space but the listing indicates the unit is air conditioned. There is no way to move air through as the doors do not have screens so you cannot leave them open. This is one of several units in the same property and there are no blinds on any windows or doors so there is no privacy whatsoever. Other guests were regularly looking directly into the unit. We immediately addressed these concerns with the landlord but nothing was done to correct it though they indicated they’d look into it and get back to us. We never heard back. The bathrooms were both lacking and be careful turning on the shower as it’s far too powerful for the small space. There is little to no closet space in bedrooms. Walls (or makeshift doors) that separate units are extremely low quality so you hear all other guests and their dogs as if they are in your unit. One of my friends woke up covered in bugs, the entire room was covered, as they came in through a window a/c unit. Hot tub was dirty and full of sand. We’ve stayed in the penthouse previously and it was beautiful but this was very different. Location is beautiful, can’t beat the views, but I would not recommend this unit. In sharing our concerns with the owner/property manager nothing was done other than thanking us for our feedback. Really disappointing overall.
