Summer Fun & Sunsets NH White Mountains Chalet
A tastefully updated and renovated cozy mountain chalet on the edge of a hill overlooking Mt. Chocorua. Set in the popular, but quiet mountain community of the Village of Eidelweiss, boasting daily sunset views, access to the three Pea Porridge Ponds' beaches, an ideal White Mountain basecamp for all-season hiking, summer fun, fall foliage and winter sports.
The main floor has an open concept kitchen, dining and living area. The fully renovated kitchen has stone countertops, stainless steel appliances and plenty of efficient storage. The kitchen is stocked with all the basics for cooking at home if you choose to do so. We love to cook, so have all the basics on hand. The kitchen flows into the dining area with a large table that can fit up 10 comfortably and squeeze 12. We have place settings for 12. The custom table (we built!) is a great spot for meals with family and friends or games and puzzles, all with a view of Mt. Chocorua. Off of the kitchen/dining area is the living room with comfortable seating and a woodstove for those chilly evenings or after a long day on the slopes. As of August 2023, we now have a mini-split installed to air condition the main floor and keep you and your guests cool and comfortable during the summer months in this bright and airy space.
Also on the first floor is a primary bedroom with a large closet and queen bed. We have added a stow-away folding desk that is kept in the master closet and can be set up in the master by the closet and there is an accent chair that can be used at the desk to create a workspace if needed. Just outside the door there is a fully updated bathroom with tub/shower next door.
Above the first floor is a large loft room with three twin beds (all new mattresses summer 2022!) and an additional fourth twin trundle. This loft has its own door, so the kids can sleep up there and not bother the adults down below (or vice versa!). Since this is the highest point in the house, we have added a portable AC unit for this room. For the summer months it will always be ready to go and it will be stored for the winter months out of the way.
In the basement, which is also the entry level of the home, there is a welcoming mudroom with lots of storage whether for hanging beach towels and goggles or snowpants and skis. A living room sits off the mudroom and has toys, books, puzzles and games for those rainy days or chilly evenings in. The couch pulls out to a twin bed and there is an extra air mattress that can fit on the floor of the living space if an extra bed is needed.
The basement also has two bunk rooms each with two bunks (all new mattresses summer 2022!). We have a pack and play on site as well in case a little one is part of your crew (see our list of amenities for all we have on hand for little ones, or feel free to ask).
There is an updated 3/4 bath at the back of the basement as well as a dedicated laundry room.
The expansive deck is like an extension of the first floor and has a gate to add security if keeping an eye on the kids while trying to also enjoy the view. There are seven Adirondack chairs available on the deck. And there is a fire pit available for use in the yard.
We added blinds in the kitchen for privacy purposes as requested by a former guest. They are a lovely aesthetic addition, but also make the main space even cozier in the evenings.
This mountain chalet really is a home away from home. We use it as our home and so have outfitted it for our comfort and yours. We renovated it ourselves wanting to make it a fresh take on the framework that previously existed with lots of meaningful, artful touches throughout.
The Village of Eidelweiss is not a gated community and you can come and go as you please. Everyone here really values their home and neighborhood as a special place, so we appreciate you respecting the community by being a good member of it while you are here. We have room for 4 vehicles in our driveway.
Other things to note...
Kids' toys available for a variety of ages. Games and puzzles for all ages as well. Local reading options on hand and kid's books too.
We have the basics for an infant to stay including a pack and play and sheets, a Chicco Caddy Hook-on Chair for the dining room table and an infant bath tub.
There are three sound machines throughout the home in case you are accustomed to white noise for comfortable sleeping.
Although we do not have whole house AC, there is a portable AC unit in the loft bedroom (which can sleep 4) and as of summer 2023, we now have a minisplit that provides AC for the entire main floor which includes the living room, dining space, kitchen, primary bedroom and first floor bathroom.
NOTE we have a no party policy. Drunkenness, excessive noise and destruction of property will not be tolerated and fees will be incurred if activities such as (and not limited to) occur. This is our home and we expect our guests to respect it and our neighbors.
NOTE our max capacity is 10 guests due to our septic system capability. If more than 10 people are found to be in your party, we will charge a fee.

I'm Amy, a New Hampshire native. My husband, Doug, and our four boys and I love all things outdoors especially hiking with our goldendoodle, skiing with our friends and swimming in the state's beautiful ponds, lakes and ocean. We bought the Berghaus in 2020 and renovated it as a family project of love and determination. We enjoy sharing this place that is so special to us with others in hopes that they will find joy here and in all the area nearby offers as much as we do.

We have thoughtfully designed the space to be amenable for guests, especially families. We cater to your comfort while also keeping things clean, simple and bright. Our home is located in the Village of Eidelweiss which is situated on the edge of the White Mountain National Forest (hiking!), is within 10 minutes to King Pine Ski Area, 17 minutes to Cranmore, 30 minutes to Attitash and more ski options within less than an hour. It has access to the Three Pea Porridge Ponds beaches (there are five of them, one just a half mile down the road) and our home boasts a gorgeous sunset view of Mt. Chocorua. Our guests are always happy with the amenities of the home and the village itself. We hope to host you here soon!

We have been super thoughtful for what a family may need. For infants we have a pack n play, infant tub and baby seat that attaches to the table as well as toys. For kids of all ages we have toys, books and games (and a sound machine in each bedroom!). We have kids diningware as well. The best part is the outdoors to play in: from our yard to the pond beaches to the local hiking trails to skiing at local ski areas, there is always something to do in the fresh air (a must for our very active four boys!). Our kids love it here and we designed it so they would. We know yours will enjoy it too!
