My poor rating is not a result of the condition or location of the cabin, or how the property was managed. We were very satisfied and would choose to stay in the cabin in the future. The rating is a direct result of the owner's decision to refuse my request for a refund or credit for a future stay. We had a severe medical emergency the first week of a 4 week stay. We spent the first week in and out of the emergency room of a local hospital. On Friday of the first week, my wife was diagnosed with suspected malaria and had to be transported to a Phoenix hospital which was 4 hours away. She spent the next week in a hospital and diagnosed with malaria, Lyme Disease and West Nile Virus. The following week was spent recovering with many doctor visits. I notified the Property Manager of the situation and said we were trying to get back to the cabin for our last week (we still had our belongings there). With doctor's approval we were able spend the final week at the cabin. After my return, I made a request to the property manager that a 2-week refund or a credit be honored by the owner. I was assured my request would be passed on to the owner. After several follow-ups, I received the very disappointing news that the owner would honor my request. I understand this is a business transaction but there was no consideration to our emergency situation. This is the only vehicle for me to convey to others what will happen if you are faced with an emergency situation. Very sad indeed.
