Rymlig balkong - Oceanfront Castle

Thank you for your positive review. I hope the weather treated you well and keep us in mind on any future trips to San Diego. BTW: Repeating guests can deal directly with me for future accommodations, but it's always preferable to have the safety and support of Homeaway!

Thank you for taking good care of our property. It's our goal to continue improving, and each feedback counts in helping us to get closer to what means to be "home away from home". See you in the future :)

Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate your comments. I just want to clarify that we have disclosed the accommodations as 3 BR/3 BA plus a living room with a pullout sofa in order to allow 8 people. It sounds like you had a person in the group who wasn't expecting to be placed in the living room. I am sorry about that, but all rooms are shown in the website with pictures to avoid disappointments.

Hi John, Thank you for the lovely review and for mentioning the BBQ at the Coaster Bar. My husband and I highly recommend their food too: great portion size, delicious gourmet taste and excellent price. We are very fortunate to have them at the same street. As always, we are happy to be your choice of home away from home. We will be looking forward to having your family again at the castle in the future.

You got it right. It's mostly about the location and amenities inside the apartment. We are always looking for better ways to improve the place and make our guests feel closer to home ( or at least with the feeling that the place is worth the price you paid for it). Since we are always improving the place, you should have another whole experience on your next visit. Repeating customers get deals with us. See you next time:)

Thank you for your suggestion, Joan. I will check the speakers outside to ensure they are working properly. For the records, I tried to simplify the system a couple of years ago and it wasn't possible because of all the connections ( DVD/ outdoor speakers/ radio and Cable). I am so sorry you encountered problems with the stereo. Had I known you wanted a Bluetooth system I would have brought my boombox party size. It works great on any location/ occasion. As a matter of fact, thanks to your suggestion I will make it available at the castle for all my guests from now on. Thanks again for your suggestion. I am glad to hear your overall stay was good and you will be staying at the castle again :)

Thank you for your feedback. I just want to point out that the furniture displayed on the pictures are the same used at the property. Also, you can do a virtual walk before renting my location. This is as real as it gets. It might not be as brand new as you wish, but it’s still considered in good condition and it does reflect what you will encounter when arriving. Unfortunately you arrived on winter during an unusual raining season, and we had to block that door with a tarp to protect the property against the heavy rain and strong winds. It is temporary fix that can be removed easily; however, when you made your reservation, the tarp wasn’t there to be disclosed. The tarp will be removed as soon as the rain season goes away and it’s mainly for safety and protection. I wish you had contacted me while there so I would have told you all of that in person , and probably taken away the tarp since there was no rain during your visit. I like to compromise with my renters.

Thank you for your feedback, and although I understand your experience is based on your expectations and they change by person-to-person, I would like to respond a few things you pointed out as negative factors of staying here: 1- the shower inside the bedroom with no wall separating it: it's a matter of preference. The idea was to be able to look at the outdoors while taking a shower without being seen by others. Yes, it's possible! Some people are skeptical about it, and they close the entire room. Others are more adventurous and they give it a try. Sorry it wasn't your style but I have a picture of the room showing it exactly as it is to avoid surprises. 2- the skylight: yes, it's bright but it doesn't seem to be a problem as I don't receive too many complaints about it. In fact, some people really like the unique ceiling and the skylight. I will probably look for solutions to have shades on it in the future. For now, had you contacted me, I would offer to cover with a tarp. It's a temporary solution but this is all I can think to minimize the problem. 3- Toilet: I will have to revisit the toilet/closet issue you described because I never had anyone having to "manage" to get in and out of the toilet. The entrance is the size of a door. Anyway, I am sorry it wasn't the best fit for you or your partner. 4- In regards to " there isn't really AC" : With all fairness, I never said there was AC provided in all rooms when you rented. I described as it is: one AC in the living room and one AC in one of the bedrooms. Unfortunately, the heat wave was very atypical this year and brought some extra humidity to the beach. I am sorry if the apartment wasn't prepared for it, but based on my previous years, the temperature at this time would be around 70s and 60s at night, which makes the need for AC almost non-existing. I will be reviewing the actual layout and I will try to be prepared for next time. I am sorry you were uncomfortable with the weather, but so was I and a bunch of other people in San Diego this year. 5- Price: the average price of this location is less than renting 3 BR in a hotel nearby during high season. At the castle you got some inconvenience, but you also got the full kitchen, the spacious patio and everyone under the same roof. So if price is something you would like to hang on to feel better, please rest assure you got it alright! Thank you for bringing to my attention some issues I can work on to improve the location to all in the future.

Dear Shawn and family, Thank you for your lovely detailed description of the castle, its amenities and surrounding areas. It's our goal to keep the apartment always well maintained and we thrive on comments and suggestions to improve the level of comfort of our guests. We have recently changed the metal oven racks and other items in the kitchen that were getting old/rusty ( loosing the non-stick material). WE are also adding a bigger table outside ( from 4 to 6 seats). Having a guest again is our best compliment. With that said, I hope to have your family anytime soon. By the way, repeating guests earn 10% off on regular rates.

Dear K, I will have to find a translator to your review but meanwhile, since I can see the 5 stars , I am assuming you are leaving good comments. Thank you !
