Beautiful Condo & Amazing Location

My daughters, mother, and I had a great stay here! My five year old kept remarking on what a nice place this was. We loved being able to walk to the beach and local restaurants. The beds were so comfortable and everything was clean. We would love to stay here again!

This place is amazing and the location couldn't be better. Underground parking. Elevator. Modern space. Short walk to the beach, you don't even need your shoes. Great spots walking distance, Jeffs Burgers is 100%. Momma Dough pizza is amazing. Will deff be back.

Great Location!

Enjoyed a week at this property with my family. The location was ideal with small children. Close to shops, restaurants, and importantly the beach. The property easily fit 4 adults and two children. Would definitely book again!

Great location, in need of updating

Great location close to the beach and restaurants. The unit is in need of updating. Living room furniture is shabby and furniture on back patio is badly in need of refinishing. Most annoying was every time I tried to dry my hair in either bathroom, the circuit breaker was tripped. I ended up having to do my hair in the living room. The beds were good and the kitchen well supplied. The issues we had didn’t keep us from having a great time!

The unit was comfortable but had several ‘flaws’ which surprised us: 1- no kleenex nor shower soap or shampoo 2- fireplace remote didn’t work despite my purchasing new batteries 3- remote driveway gate was very finicky and rarely closed completely so it was often open enough to walk through. Also, it closed on our rental car and scratched the door because it closed too quickly. 4- There were no instructions for the tv’s each of which had 3 remotes(I had to text the owner to figure out how to get them to work). 5- I also initially had difficulty getting the furnace to heat the place which was quite cold when we arrived(also required texting the owner). 6- We found it curious that despite the request to take short showers & conserve water, it took an inordinate amount of time to get warm/hot water from the bathroom faucet & showers which, of course, is a huge waste of water! Regardless, the place is very well located, nice, comfortable & quiet. There are several good restaurants and coffee shops within a 2-3 block walk, and the beach is very close.

Great location and beautiful home

My 20-year-old daughter and I stayed here for four nights in January 2023 after having spent three nights in a downtown San Diego hotel. The home was easy to find and although I was nervous about getting the key out of the key-holder , it was fine. We didn't actually use the garage right away, as street parking was plentiful. Toward the end of the week, things seemed busier so we parked in the garage. I was worried I'd have trouble parking in the assigned spot but even with a small SUV (VW Tiguan), there was no problem. Definitely a plus to have the garage when we needed it. Walking in to the home, you could smell that the house had been recently cleaned and everything was in its place. My daughter and I loved each having our own room and bathroom after having been sharing a hotel room. Based on past reviews, I was worried that things like toilet paper, paper towels, etc. wouldn't be provided, but when I arrived, there was one roll of toilet paper in one of the bathrooms, as well as hand soap. There were laundry detergent pods and dryer sheets for the washer/dryer. The kitchen had paper towels and dish soap and garbage bags. We just had to run to the corner store for toilet paper and tissues, which wasn't a problem at all, since the home is literally right around the corner from the "main street" at La Jolla Shores. (Just be prepared to have to grab a few things when you get there.) This main street has the market, restaurants, coffee shops, bike/kayak rentals, and some retail shops. Around the other corner is a short walk to the beach, which was my favorite part of the home. The beach is beautiful--relatively small, but we saw sunrises and sunsets and did a kayak tour and just walked along the sidewalk, enjoying the palm trees and watching the surfers descend on the beach each morning. Having a washer and dryer was a lifesaver to us, as we didn't want to check bags so brought a minimal wardrobe. We did probably four loads of laundry. We also enjoyed the private patio, which was located off the main bedroom. It was nice to have a place outside to eat. Overall, the house had almost everything I was looking for (separate bedrooms, w/d, parking, outside patio). The only thing that would have made this home better would have been a hot tub, but I guess you can't have it all! I didn't have to contact the owners at all, so can't speak to responsiveness. Overall, I can 100% recommend this VRBO to folks traveling to the beautiful La Jolla area.

I have vacationed in La Jolla Shores for 20 years. During that time, I have owned and rented property so I am very familiar with the rental market. We arrived at 4:00 p.m. to find the cleaning crew still working on the property. There was no toilet paper, hand soap or tissues. I texted the owner who said she would “send some over to get us started.” I’ve never rented a property and expected to bring toilet paper, hand soap or tissues. There is a sign on the refrigerator listing arbitrary “fines” that are clearly outside the terms of the rental contract. Although I was charged a cleaning fee in the rental agreement, apparently the cleaning crew doesn’t really clean. Fines were listed for not stripping the beds [a job that the cleaning crew should do], fines for not emptying all the garbage cans [again, cleaning crew], fines for not cleaning the BBQ grill [cleaning crew]; fines for not removing the dishes from the dishwasher on the last day. This probably explains why the dishes had food and lip prints on them. Prior tenants just replaced the dirty dishes in the cupboards rather washing them in the dishwasher as they left and then have fines levied against them. A list of the properties other problems: the air conditioning blows hot air; the refrigerator freezes the food; you can’t take a shower in both bathrooms at the same time because the hot water flows to only one bathroom at a time; the television in the master bedroom does work and isn’t connected to any cable network [as stated in a previous renter comment] and the patio pictured in the listing is in the back of the condo off the master bedroom wedged between three buildings and offering no privacy. Renters should be aware that the property is squeezed between three other condo buildings and there is noise day and night from barking dogs, remodeling and construction crews and unhappy children. I was going to contact the owner but I found a couple of notes from previous tenants in the visitor book that recounted the same problems and the owner’s lack of interest. In other words, there are far too many problems to believe there is any management or oversight of this property. I texted the owner when I left asking when my security deposit would be returned. Her response, “I usually get around to it within two weeks.” It actually took three weeks and clearly “getting around to it” seems to be something the owner hasn’t done with this property.

The property was situated a short walk from the beach, kid-friendly play areas, and top-notch eateries. Underground garage parking was convenient and the condo was tactfully decorated. Downsides were that we had some critters for houseguests, the neighbors were noisy, and off-street parking was tricky. Otherwise, it was a wonderful place to stay!
