Great stay!

We had a wonderful stay at Oaken Hill! The place was clean with a good layout. It had a good location. Had a nice, well kept yard. The beds were all decently comfortable and the furniture was all comfortable. The kitchen was great! This was one of the best supplied kitchens we've encountered. Informative binder with suggestions of local restaurants and places to go. Renter was quick to respond and pleasant to work with. We enjoyed our stay!

This place is so pretty inside! And the neighborhood felt safe. Although peace was disrupted during weekday business hours by the loud dump trucks on the adjacent road. Even with that, the back yard was great for our dog. We could even see the mountain from the back yard. We enjoyed the hot tub many nights & the string lights made it feel serene. I have never rented a VRBO with a better kitchen. They had everything we could think of except s'mores skewers. We enjoyed meals at the bar & around the dinner table. Plenty of counter space for prep, plenty of dishes/utensils/drinkware/storage, nice appliances. Shortly after our arrival, we did have some trouble with a couple things & they quickly sent someone out to resolve. Beds were comfortable but the couch needs replacing as it's not comfy. The owner's book was helpful & we enjoyed the restaurant & hike suggestions. It was easy to get to Black Mntn, Asheville, the Blue Ridge Parkway & so much more. I would definitely recommend this place to friends with children, multiple couples, singles, multi-generational, younger, older, it's really for most everyone. The outside of the house, screened in porch & outdoor furniture could do with some repair/updating. The fire pit was enjoyed for s'mores making & ambiance. Our dog was welcomed too-with clean bowls, towels, & poop bags. Check the gate latch if you have a dog/children. Overall, good place to stay & enjoy all the things the mountains have to offer!

Fantastic location & house

Can’t beat the proximity to Black Mountain and 40. The house exceeded expectations in terms of space and was well stocked with dishes, pots/pans, and glassware. The guest book might need some updating (ie. hot tub directions) but was overall appreciated for its helpfulness and local suggestions. Great stay!

The house smelled terribly of mold. It was not tolerable. Think of old moldy, musty antique shop smell. The appearance of the inside of the house on first blush is neat and tidy. The kitchen was beautiful. It was actually very well appointed and modernized. It appears comfortable well laid out and quite charming. The mold is the problem along with the outside area that was very beat up and dirty. Both screen doors on the outside area were broken and there was wood rot around the outside. The grill looked like somebody put the cover on when it was hot and it melted on top of it. The hot tub was over chlorinated and reeked of mold. The backyard fence was not as secure as it looks in the photographs. The backyard and patio were not nearly as nice as they appeared in photographs. The back slider didn't lock but had a stick in the track. The neighborhood was quiet and lovely, but the house was a huge disappointment so much so that we left and took a big financial hit because it was intolerable to remain there. Also, the host offered other properties and a 745 refund if I stayed at one of the properties offered. They only gave me a 200 refund if I did not. The properties she sent were not properties that I believed I would trust especially after Oaken Hill. Rachel from Cragmont tried her best to accommodate, but there was no way I was going to stay in that house or another house listed by them. Stay clear! I hope they decide to take it off their listings and vet rentals better.

Great house, great location

The house is very nice and in a safe, comfortable neighborhood. Interior of the home is nicer than it would appear from the outside. Communication with the property manager was very good. Would rent again.

Peaceful and clean

The house was extremely clean and comfortable, large enough to accommodate our family with space to spare. Kitchen was stocked with plenty of dishes and cookware to make dinner. Loved that we were able to bring our fur baby. My fiancé participated in the Asheville Marathon so having the hot tub was a huge bonus for him after his race. Would definitely stay at this property again!

Oaken Hill

The property is in a great location. Close to Asheville and to downtown Black Mountain. The home is very nicely decorated and the kitchen amenities were plentiful. The beds were very comfy also. Would definitely recommend to anyone that has a small group or a family trip in the future. Melissa H.
