Welcome to the Wolf Den! Why rent a home in the NC mountains without GREAT views? Our 3 story home is new to the rental market. With 4 bedrooms & 4 baths this mountain home sleeps 8 to 10, in the private Country Club gated community of Wolf Laurel. We are situated at a 5000 ft elevation with spectacular 60-mile views of the valleys below... and to the mountain range beyond.
Recently remodeled, our home has an open floor-plan with high vaulted ceilings. Each room has an amazing view of the mountain range. There are large wood decks where gathering to socialize is perfect, enjoying alfresco dinners or just curling up with a snuggly throw and reading a great book - is truly what a mountain escape should be! We stock a large library of books, puzzles, games for your enjoyment, and a regulation pool table!
This is a perfect spot for a gathering of friends, family reunion, golfing buddies, board of directors corporate retreat, or even a small wedding venue. (On our same street there are 2 other VRBO host homes for extra guests) The possibilities are endless!
From May 1st through October 31, you may have access to the Wolf Laurel Country Club amenities because we are members of the Country Club here. Amenities available to you through the "tenant access" program include a world-class golf course, exercise facility, and the award-winning restaurant & bar. Simply make arrangements with us and reservations at the club in advance of your arrival 828-680-9772, and pay using your own credit card.
There is also complimentary use of the tennis courts, pickleball, outdoor heated swimming pool, community pavilion and Nature Walks (the Appalachian Trail entrance is within a half mile walk or easy drive), to enjoy with family and friends! Ask owner for details and see our Guest Book at the house.
For Winter Fun the spectacular and completely all-new Hatley Pointe Ski Resort is open and within the gates at Wolf Laurel. World class skiing! Visit www.HatleyPointe.com for details and lift tickets.
With downtown Asheville a quick 35 minute drive, you can enjoy many additional great restaurants, shops and art galleries while you visit. The Biltmore Estate & Gardens is located within Asheville as well, and is truly worth a day visit.
Grocery shopping is available at Wolf Provisions (a small quaint store half-way down the mountain, or at Ingles (a large grocery store in Mars Hill 18 minutes down the mountain off I-26 at the Mars Hill exit). We often stop at Ingles on the way up and shop for what we think we will want for a day or two to start our vacation! Map for both these locations is in our Guest Welcome Book in the Kitchen or can be found here on our VRBO listing.

We are the Ratchfords and have enjoyed our mountain home for many years. We just finished a pretty major remodeling project and are pleased to now offer it on VRBO. Our main residences are in Florida... but there are times when the south becomes pretty hot. We love to escape to this lovely mountain and enjoy all four seasons, whenever we get the chance. Come and experience this calm and pristine environment... and of course our mountain range views. This is a place where you can practically feed the wild deer from your hand!

Wolf Laurel is not only a private gated community but one that has spectacular amenities, including a beautiful "world Class" golf course at one of the highest elevations in the Eastern US. The signature par 3 hole #6 has a drop of over 250 ft. from tee to green! The club features a great restaurant and lively bar, along with tennis, pickle ball, heated pool, hiking trails (right up to the Appellation Trail), and all within less than a mile from our home. Opening this fall, and withing the gates of Wolf Laurel, is the highly anticipated Hatley Pointe Ski Resort, recently featured in POWDER magazine!

It is really the ambiance of our home, the comfortable decorating, the community amenities and the incredible views that make our mountain retreat unique from the rest!
At our home, temperatures in the Spring range from a low of 25 to 50 degrees. Summertime is generally between 50 to 75, Fall can be 40 to 65 degrees and in the Winter - we do often get a bit of snow and the temps can fall into the 20's or even a bit lower at times.
