Home Away from Home

My husband and I love staying in the Carson Valley for our get aways. Gary and Judy's place is located in this beautiful high desert with gorgeous views and easy access to all the outdoor activities we love, be it hiking, fishing, skiing, biking, kayaking and visiting beautiful lake Tahoe. We return from each active day to a very comfortable and well kept cottage on their property in a quiet rural neighborhood. The large and fully equipped kitchen allows us to cook our meals just like at home. Their dog is a sweet heart too. This was our second visit and we look forward to our next.

Adorable Cottage

Surprising jewel in a quiet neighborhood, but close to everything. Three bedrooms though one is pretty small, great for a child. The cottage has everything you need for a home away from. Wonderful inside and out. Private yard with nice furniture and BBQ for relaxing and inside everything for cooking, baking or even ordering in. Owners are very responsive and easy to work with. Definitely will stay again.

We are quiet and so are others

“The Cottage” is about half of an existing one-story house. In California this desirable layout is called an Additional Dwelling Unit. The Unit is completely cut off and separate. For us (we are retired) and for others who like quiet - it was perfect! We didn’t hear them and they said they didn’t hear us. Easy, quiet living!

Wonderful stay and Gary and Judy are great hosts!

The cottage came equipped with everything myself and some friends needed for our stay. I stayed for a few weeks myself then had some friends join me. The location is great for skiing being only a 30-45m drive depending on the side of Heavenly you go to and 40m - 1hr ish away from Kirkwood. Gary and Judy were wonderful hosts and were very accommodating. I would absolutely stay here again

Truly A Quality Home Away From Home

Loved being embedded in this quiet neighborhood. Free ski shuttle 2 mi away. Kitchen is truly equipped for real and toxic free cooking. Very spacious cottage. No old worn wall to wall carpets or broken down furniture here. The hosts are super generous. Best part? This place is Smoke AND Fragrance Free!!! Best Stay Ever. Thank You

Home Sweet Home

I stayed 1 month and have to say, I felt very comfortable and safe here and enjoyed my stay. Great internet connection and they thought of every detail that would be needed for a vacation rental. Judy and Gary were always available for any questions and friendly and wonderful host. If I ever come back to Gardnerville. This is where I'd stay again!

Best holiday season

Gary and Judy are very friendly host, they always think ahead of time and be very considerate for emergencies during this heavy snow season. The place is very spacious and super clean, the room is very warm and the hot water is always available. The family have wonderful time here, and will strongly recommend friends to stay as well.

Comfortable and Clean

I needed a short-term rental that would allow me to work from home, and this place was a perfect fit for me. Comfortable, clean and close to the mountains and trails. The WiFi was plenty fast enough to allow me to work and video conference without interruption for the entire stay. The hosts are kind, friendly, and there to help if needed; while still providing all the privacy you may need. The property is tucked away on the backside of their house with it's own entrance, covered carport, and fenced in private patio with grill and patio furniture. Great option whether you're staying for remote work or play.

Excellent place, location is perfect!

Wonderful Home away from home

The hosts are available when you want them but not intrusive. Very comfortable, great wifi speed and tv includes Netflix and AmaZon. Nearby Minden and Garderville which have everything you need. Costco less Than 20 miles away.

Simply Perfect

I think the title of my review says it all. Judy and Gary were absolutely delightful during our stay, we even got to meet their cute little puppy :) We stayed for almost 2 months and it completely felt like home. Everything you need is already stocked, just show up with your clothes and you’re good to go. Some small details to note: - wifi was strong enough for 2x laptops, TV streaming and phones to be used all at once - about 40 mins to Kirkwood and 25 mins to Saddlerack lodge in heavenly - there’s a jacuzzi tub... amazing after a long day on skiing! - beds are super comfy! - the kitchen has literally everything, if you like to cook, you’ll be in heaven - super private and very quiet - lastly - the pictures don’t really do it justice, the place is bigger than you think In the surrounding areas, we’d recommend: - overland for food/beer - JT Basque for a fun multi-course meal (meat eaters only) - cowboy’s cafe for breakfast

Great, relaxing stay

The hosts are a great, friendly couple who helped make our stay the best it can be. The area is very calm and peaceful and only 30min away from Lake Tahoe. They just recently added great internet connection at home too. You will be staying in the back half of the house so if you need anything you can just go to the front and ask for the owners to help you with anything. We had a great time and the price was very reasonable.

Fabulous hosts

Everything was exactly as described if not better. The kitchen is equipped beyond anything you could possibly need. The hosts were very hospitable, non-intrusive but readily available if needed. The cottage is immaculate and very quiet.

Cozy Cottage

I loved the cottage and the owners were so great during the COVID19 time that happened while I was there. The place is so clean and had whatever I needed. Close to shopping but still very private. The view of the mountains was great. A very relaxing place to be.

Pleasant and Comfortable

This is a cute, spacious, and comfortable cottage that is well-appointed, very clean, and quiet. The hosts are unobtrusive but responsive and helpful. The location is perfect for the Carson Valley and Lake Tahoe. It is large enough for a family, but provides much privacy for everyone. There are lovely neighborhood birds, too. We were very happy here.

We have been in the Carson Valley sine 1986. We have traveled a lot and would not move anywhere but here.
The beauty and serenity of the Valley is awesome. There are double rainbows, beautiful winters, moderate summers. Within an hours there is plenty of recreation: boating, hiking, snowmobiling, quad running, sailing, restaurants, casinos, historical towns, shopping, antique stores, on and on are things to do.
