Would have been a 5 star if it was clean!

We have always given 5 star reviews at our VRBOs but can not this time. The location is gorgeous-right on the beach in a quiet area backed up by sand dunes. The space is lovely for a short stay. However, when we arrived the curtain liner was full of orange mold and the white shower curtain had black mold and dirt on it. The sink had what looked like fish in the sink strainer. The bed skirt had some crunchy stuff all over it. There were ants.. lots of ants. By 8 am one morning I had killed over 100. I stopped counting after 200. All of this could have been better if the management company was responsive. We left a text message on Saturday evening and by Monday noon, we still hadn’t heard from them. I called again and they did not apologize. I gave them a list of things that needed attending to. They only changed the shower liner. I had to call again. Then they said they would get at it the next day. Well, by then we are on day 4 of 5. Bottom line—it would have been a great place if it were kept up. I do not know if they had a different cleaning person or what the problem was. We ended up leaving a day early. When we texted the management company that we were leaving we did not get a response. I texted again and they said they would get back to me in 48 hours. Clearly they do not prioritize customer service.

My wife and I had a great time! The beach was perfect! The room was clean and the setup was great. The description and pictures is deceiving. It's basically a living area above the garage. In order to access the beach, you have to walk around the main house via the deck. The owners weren't there. But, if they were, it would make things a lot less private and a bit awkward. Otherwise, it was a perfect stay!

The studio apartment over the owners' garage was lovely, in all respects. I purposefully chose it because it was rural, private, and right next to Lake Michigan. I would definitely rent this again.

Unbelievable sunsets on the beach.

My wife and I would explore the peninsula during the day and return to this amazing place every evening. The cottage is very cozy, and tastefully decorated. The host was knowledgeable about the area, and willing to share his insight about the local restaurants.

End of summer getaway

We had a fabulous 2 days exploring the worries and neurosurgeon. The beach is gorgeous and we even found 2 Petoskey stones! Nice and quiet too!

Shhhhh!!!

Don't tell anyone, but this beach and cottage are in paradise. If you are looking for a peaceful and serene setting this is the place. Cottage is very clean, comfortable, nicely decorated, with lots of natural light. Perfect for a couple. The views from the east facing deck are of natural dunes, part of state park property. Wonderful place to sit and watch the sunrise and star gazing at night. A walk across the west deck and down a few stairs, you are at the pristine sandy bottomed beach. Uninterrupted views of walkable shoreline. Great place to hike, watch the plovers, collect rocks or just sit and enjoy the surroundings and amazing sunsets. We loved our stay and will return again.

Great place on the beach!

This unit was just what we were looking for: a quiet place right on the waterfront. It was sized just right for two adults even though there is a very small bedroom that could accommodate a couple of kids. The kitchen was well-stocked and had everything we needed. But the best part was how close we were to the beach. The host made sure we knew we could use some chairs while sitting on the beach. He welcomed us soon after we arrived and was gracious. If you're looking for a very quiet place to relax and enjoy the beach (and sunsets!), this is the place.

Beautiful Beach, Peace and Quiet!

My family of three loved our week long stay at Sunset cottage. The beach was absolutely gorgeous --turquoise water and soft sand abound! The cottage is the perfect size for a small family, and had everything we needed to prepare meals and relax after our days on the beach. Beds were very comfortable, and the space just felt like home. The hosts were incredibly sweet and made us feel welcome. The road is quiet and safe for long walks or runs --we also enjoyed climbing the big dune across the street a few times to catch the sunset. Perfect location for access to the lake towns of North Port, Leland, Sutton's Bay, etc. Overall, a lovely stay in a really special place. Thank you for sharing it with us!

Well appointed and quiet near-the-beach rental. Nice sunsets and walks along the beach. Sits above a garage in an affluent neighborhood so there are steps involved. Good wifi. Owners nearby.

Beautiful and clean spot. Would definitely stay again in the future. I kept thinking I was in the Bahamas, not Michigan. The water and sand is so beautiful.

Fantastic reset

Peaceful getaway with options for anything you can imagine. Hours long walks on the beach rock hunting or a trip to Northport to shop, have ice cream or listen to live music! Or, read while listening to the waves of Lake Michigan lap the shore. You are only limited by your imagination!!

Best Kept Secret!

This experience was absolutely wonderful. The owners of the property could not be more accommodating and kind. The waterfront is absolutely beautiful and you feel like you have a beach all to yourself. If swimming and sitting on the beautiful sands of Lake Michigan is your thing, this is your place! We will definitely return!

Wonderful stay!

I was very pleased with my stay at Sunset Beach Hideaway. The detail and cleanliness of the property is immaculate and the size was perfect for just me. You can't beat the sunsets and soft sand on Lake Michigan and the privacy of the area. I hope to return in the future!

The property is exactly as described and was very well stocked with everything we needed and more. The Cathead Bay Area it is located in is very peaceful with an awesome beach area and is surrounded by state park land. The owner of the property lives in the main house on the property and greeted us when we arrived. He was extremely friendly and shared lots of info about the area but was very respectful of our privacy as well. We definitely would recommend and plan on a return visit.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This beach location north of sleeping bear dunes is in my home state. I hesitate to tell you how good this place is because I want it ALL to myself. The room is charming and well laid out. I have already rebooked for two more visits. Cable everything is available. We used the gas grill easily. The kitchen is so well equipped I left two bags of things in the car once I arrived. There is no laundry facilities so bring enough paper towels, kitchen towels, and clothes for your comfort. The owners have beach chairs and tables on the beach and on the deck and are very kind and inviting. You never feel like you are intruding. The place was immaculate. The small room has a bunk bed but we were just two and it worked perfectly as a dressing room. The ten minute ride to the closest town and grocery means you need to think before you get out there, but the hiking, beach, and other places are just a bit away. 30 minutes to Traverse City and one day we drove the hour to catch the ferry to Mackinac Island. Love this place.
