Vi kallade vårt bergshem "nästan himmel" för när vi är där är det exakt hur det känns för oss. Vid 3000 meters höjd är vi nära stjärnorna på natten, molnen på dagen och vi bevittnar underbara soluppgångar och solnedgångar året runt. När sommarvärmen brinner upp de låga markerna har vi färska, svala vindar och till och med tröjorväder på kvällarna. Vi ser 40 miles till Mt. Mitchell i norr, tio bergskedjor till där solen går ner i väster och 60 mil till en plan linje i söder. Vi är omgiven av natur, astronomi och meteorologi, men vi är en kort 35 minuters bilresa till Biltmore House och de utmärkta restaurangerna i centrala Asheville, och 20 minuter från Black Mountain och dess pittoreska butiker, restauranger och gigantiska livsmedelsbutiker. Vi hör vinden i bladen och fångar den söta lukten av Rhododendron och Mountain Laurel på våren; vi plockar vilda björnbär på sommaren och lyssnar på sångfåglar hela dagen. Vi stöter ofta på hjortar, vilda kalkoner och till och med bobcats, men vi lever i ett modernt, lyxigt hem med ett gourmetkök, satellit-TV, snabbt varmt vatten, underbara sängar och madrasser och fönster överallt för att inrama skönheten runt omkring oss. Vårt hem är byggt för både samsyn och integritet: familjerummet har en monumental sten spis omgiven av skinnsoffor, den täckta verandan fungerar som en utomhus matplats, källaren erbjuder ping-pong och foosball bord och tre fjärdedelar av hemmet är omgiven av däck och rockers - medan vart och ett av de fyra sovrummen har sin egen privata veranda för personligt samtal eller tyst läsningstid bort från den större gruppen. Det är det bästa av alla världar: naturligt men ändå mycket civiliserat; fjärr men ändå bekväm; privat men ändå kommunal. Det är nästan himlen. Vi vill gärna dela det med dig!

The location of this cabin with the mountainous view was breathtaking! The house is very spacious.

We had a wonderful stay at Almost Heaven. The owners are very helpful with communication and in providing details as we prepared to visit the area. The house was amazing and the views are spectacular. We hope to visit again another time.

Mountain Retreat

Outstanding property in the mountains. Very clean and spacious and the 4 bedrooms were very nice and clean. Really a nice house with beautiful views of the area. Highly recommend!

Couldn’t have found a better place!

Almost Heaven is an amazing property! The house is very nice, super clean, and well stocked. The views are incredible and this was a perfect place for our family. We made trips to the Biltmore and downtown Asheville then retreated to the very quite paradise that is Almost Heaven.

Great Family Spring Break Getaway!

Beautiful mountain home with breathtaking views! There was plenty of room for my family of four and my parents. The kitchen was well equipped and my seven year old daughter enjoyed the Ping pong table and foosball table in the basement. The owner is really easy to work with. There's so much to see and do around this area.

Davidson Friends Weekend 30th Anniversary

This house was perfect! We went for a hike and a visit around Lake Lure, but our favorite time was sitting on the back porch and just talking. Owner’s instructions and list of things to do were very helpful. We would highly recommend.!

This really is almost heaven!

Third time visit for a girls retreat. Perfect location, lovely views, great times sitting outside joying the mountains. The house was immaculately clean and had everything we need for cooking and cocktails. Annette the hostess could not have been more helpful and easy to work with. It’s ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️in our book.!

Everything you might need for your stay

The cabin was well equipped with whatever you might need. The owner responded very quickly with my one question upon arrival. The cabin is not very close to much of the hiking trails, so expect lengthy drives. Overall, it is a nicely kept cabin that is also very spacious.

Quick Mountain get away

Peaceful, comfortable, restful! Had everything we needed, and more. Drive up the Mountain not for sissy’s! Get groceries for your stay at Ingles in Black Mountain, fabulous supermarket. Should you decide not to venture one day, have enough food to manage for the day!

Family get together

Views from the property were beautiful, we even saw a rainbow on two nights while we were there. The house nicely accommodated our family. Communication and check in were very easy and the instructions were perfect. The ride to the house takes some time to get used to the uphill climb and narrow roadways. We had a wonderful time

Amazing views!

Came up with a group of friends to celebrate my husband’s 50th anniversary. Chose the location because the photos in the listing were beautiful (and they are completely accurate) and it’s close enough to drive to places if you want to go do something. We went into Asheville and Black Mountain but we were all happy to head back to the house to hang out on the porch. We definitely want to come back. Annette was so sweet and helpful to work with.

It lives up to its name! The views were breathtaking and the house was beautiful! The owners provided so many extras like games, key board, hammock etc. The only small thing was the water pressure was a bit low and the road to the house a bit narrow and steep. I would still go back in a heart beat though! Thanks again!

Amazing!

We were the first to stay in Almost Heaven and we are so thankful that we chose to! The owners were helpful and wonderful to work with, the location was not too close and not too far from everything there is to do in Asheville and the scenery and views were just BREATHTAKING! The house is comfortable, clean, and well appointed. We used the kitchen with ease and made some delicious meals that we enjoyed on the deck overlooking the valley and mountains. I feel so grateful that we got to have such a beautiful, comfortable place to enjoy our North Carolina excursion and would tell anyone who asked us to use VRBO and especially to visit Almost Heaven!! Thank you so much!

Fabulous

Gracious, well appointed, calming, beautiful, comfortable, clean, overall most excellent. We wanted to be centrally located to as many waterfalls as possible. We were. We wanted to be in a quiet place with no light pollution. We were. We wanted views! We got them. My husband and I needed this getaway more than we knew...we got so much more than we asked for. The last couple of days our granddaughters joined us. They enjoyed the stay as much as we did. I just cannot gush enough. And the hosts! Super responsive to my emails, which were few because we didn't need to ask much of them at all. They had anticipated every single detail.

Cozy cabin weekend!

Our stay at Almost Heaven was perfect! We had a group of four couples and a curious toddler, and the space was great for cooking, playing board games, and lounging around the fire. The view is the best part - both the front and the back of the cabin have beautiful views of the mountains. The kitchen is very well stocked, and the bedrooms and bathrooms had everything we needed. The owner even arranged from us to borrow a sled from the neighbor when it ended up snowing during our visit! The cabin is at the top of a long road, next to one other cabin - the road is a little unnerving when it's snowing (as it was right when we arrived!), but it's manageable, and the owner was kind enough to call when she found out it was snowing to make sure we had made it to the cabin okay. We had a wonderful snowy cabin weekend and are looking forward to going back in the summer so that we can spend more time on the deck!
