The Surf Hideaway is located in the heart of Kona Hawaii. This is not a fancy condo what you will get is a clean room and bath and the experience of living like a local in Hawaii we live on this site. We offer everything from mask, snorkels and fins there are also beach chairs, boogie boards for your day at the beach. Most guest use the Surf Hideaway as there first and last night on the island because of our location and price. We also love helping our guests with our local knowledge

Convenient location , quiet, private with parking. Bed & pillows need an upgrade and no A/C which was fine for us but might not be for others. Shower clean and good hot water and pressure. Fridge was helpful. Good pricing too.

Perfect in town location

We needed a basic place to stay for our arrival in Kona before our stay further south was to begin. Easy to find. Clean, small kitchenette. Fan helped since no AC. Quiet location. Parking right outside the door. Rooster wakeup call. Owner very kind, and helpful and available if needed. Would definitely stay here again.

A really nice stay!

The appartment is small but very cozy. It was clean and equipped with the necessary utensils. Really close to the ocean and the center of Kailua-Kona. We also enjoyed sitting by the table outside while having breakfast or in the evening. Marc is a really friendly host and everything went well.

Lovely little place for my first night in Hawaii. Perfect for access to walk around Kailua Kona reaching the airport by vehicle. Would definitely stay again.

Perfect overnight stay

I booked this property close to the airport as.I was arriving on a late night flight. As it turned out our flight took on a extra 2 hour delay. Marc was very flexible in my arrival time and responded quickly to my messages. The suite was perfect and such a cozy place to land affer a very long day. Easy to find and in a lovely neighbourhood.

My flight was delayed so I arrived a day later than planned. After 28 hours travelling I was exhausted, jet lagged and in need of a comforting place to be. I was met with such a warm welcome and a beautiful place to stay. Couldn't believe how close I was to everything. Herbivores (Im vegan) was close by and somewhere I visited frequently. Safeway is a short walk away. I was travelling alone and felt so safe here. Would be back in a heart beat 💕💕

Excellent location in Kona Town

Nestled in the hillside, a few blocks from Ali'i Dr, the Surf Hideaway is a good base from which to explore the area. The owners are super friendly and offer all sorts of water sports equipment to their guests. But if you're looking for luxurious lodging, this place would probably miss the mark for you. The bed could use replacing, but the linens were fresh & clean. The door does have a functioning lock so the review stating otherwise is no longer accurate. There was no AC, but I wasn't expecting that given this is Hawaii and cooling tropical breezes prevail. The kitchen was well equipped however, you might find a creepy crawler but, again, this is a tropical island where such things are not uncommon. Personally I prefer a place where toxic pesticides are not overly used. Just make sure to wash dishes prior to use and don't leave open containers of food out (there's a good sized refrigerator to store everything). All in all, it was a good stay but maybe best suited for younger people working with a tight budget, or older folks looking for an adventure.

Good stay, as described, a clean bed and bath, nothing fancy but a good safe place to sleep. Location is a easy to walk down to shops, restaurants and beach area or tide pools.

Convenient and quiet neighborhood

Close to everything in Kailua and had everything I needed for a couple day stay. Nice to have carport parking to keep the sun off the car.
