Needs the finishing touches
First, the positives
The pricing was affordable compared to other rentals in the area
It was spacious with enough room and beds for my whole familt
The interior looked nice, a lot of it looked new
The location was convenient for our plans
It was clean enough but could have benefitted from some extra sweeping.
Now, the negatives
One of the bedframes was broken and un-usable the first night. We alerted the owner on the first night. And they did fix it the next day which was awesome.
It is a renovated garage+add on. Its attached to the owners primary residence by way of a sliding glass door and 2 other doors. There was a (not well closed) curtain on their side but not ours. Which was unsettling as that meant they could peek in at any time and we have no way of stopping it. I do not think they actually did so but the lack of a simple curtain on the renters side made it possible.
There were 2 other doors that could access the sleeping areas from the main residence again with nothing to keep the renters secure. There was a barndoor that entered the kitchen area from the back yard and there was literally a piece of electrical wire holding it together. No lock no bolts... just electrical wire. When they had the bed fixed they replaced the wire with a lock- which helped.
The front door was unable to be locked by the renters from the outside - so we had to leave it unlocked when we left
