With a full house for a week there was a need for more towels but thankfully after a call to the office we had enough but needed more wash cloths. The weather was perfect.

The listing didn’t have any summer photos, so we weren’t quite sure what to expect. We needed a large home for our big family, and this place turned out to be even more beautiful than we imagined. The property was spacious, and all the amenities were very well maintained. We’re already looking forward to coming back for our summer vacation next year. Thank you!

Family Ski Trip

There were 15 of us on this family ski trip and it was amazing!! The House was so convenient on the slope, plenty big enough for us all. Kitchen was big and fully equipped The hot tub was a welcome treat after the ski day with our aching bones! And we found out grandchild #8 is in its way!!.

Wonderful Home

We would recommend this home/lodge to any family company event or gathering. It is clean, beautifully decorated, comfortable furniture and beds, and the kitchen is stocked i with every appliance that you can think of. Last the outside decks and swing were very enjoyable in the evening.

Outstanding Rental

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our stay at the Best of Canaan "cabin" (it's so bug it's difficult to refer to it as a cabin) was nothing but great. Being told ahead of time that the cabin was well stocked did not prepare me for just how well stocked it was. If you need to cook it, bake it, slice it (they have a meat slicer) you have what you need. A chef wouldn't know what to do with all of the kitchen equipment.Moving on to location. It couldn't be in a more centralized location based on the local attractions. Minutes from Davis, Thomas, and Blackwater falls. Short drives to caverns, Seneca Rocks, and Dolly Sods Wilderness.The cabin was clean and well stocked with towels. The check in was hassel-less took literally 1 minute.I could go on all day but in short I highly recommend this cabin and will probably go back.

Family ski trip

We enjoyed our stay very much at this property. It provides direct access to the slopes, it is spacious and accommodating to multiple families. The layout provides privacy as well as a great, very well equipped kitchen, a beautiful large dining room and living room. Unfortunately the representative of the management company was unfriendly and not accomodating. It left a sour taste in our mouth, but I would rent this place again at a heartbeat if I wouldn't have to deal with the same person again. I plan to address the issue directly with the owners.

Family reunion in the mountains.

8 adult siblings and significant others drove from 4 states to stay in this gorgeous house. More than enough bedrooms and bathrooms. Big and extremely well stocked kitchen allowed for easy meal prep. Large table we fit 14 adults around. Excellent hot tub. Great location. 15 to 20 minutes to Davis, Blackwater Falls, and Thomas.

Golf/Fishing trip

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Second year in a row for this house visited by a group of 12 fishermen and golfers. The house is well outfitted with nothing really missing or needed. The amount of refrigerator/freezer space is awesome and the kitchen has everything. There are two maintenance issues that we reported last year that it's hard to believe have not been addressed. First, the pool table is atrocious and, as reported last year, is in desperate need of refinishing. Second, the ceiling fan in the upstairs sitting room is not usable and needs replaced. It makes huge noise when run. Please repair/replace these items.

Amazing house!!

My family stayed here January 2023, and it is the most perfect house for a big group! The ski in ski out is so convenient and located very close to the lift! The small amenities you usually don’t get at other places was great and the beds were the comfiest I’ve ever had staying away from home. A short drive from Davis if your group wants to go into town to Stumptown or get some burritos at Hellbender! I’ve been coming to Davis for 5-6 years now and this has been my favorite house!

The only problem we encountered was one bed didn't have a headboard. It looked like it had just broken and not yet been replaced. We could have used more forks because we didn't have enough dinner forks for 20 people. We highly recommend Mountain Lair.
