The Cabin at Dove Harbour Farm is a hidden gem in the Laurel Highlands! Stay at our fully furnished, modern rustic cabin with amenities suitable for a cozy getaway, any day of the week. The cabin offers a great "home base" to explore the beautiful Laurel Highlands, enjoy quiet relaxation at the farm, or travel to destinations along the 911 National Memorial Trail. The Mason Family is dedicated to providing a memorable lodging experience for our guests.

Dove Harbour Farm is 110-acres of tilled fields, lawns, gardens, and woodland. Depending on the season, you will likely see or hear deer, coyote, fox, raccoons, raptors, turkey, pheasant, small mammals and an occasional black bear.

There are hundreds of types of trees, shrubs, plants and wildflowers in the woods and wood edge. We encourage you to enjoy a quiet walk along our wildflower trails or through the woods and bathe in the wonders of this peaceful place. Feel free to pick a bouquet of wildflowers or spread a blanket and enjoy a picnic lunch at the Camp by the Creek.

We wish we'd stayed longer!

We received a warm welcome from Mark and Ollie, the official canine greeter of Dove Harbour Farm. The surroundings are beautiful, the cabin is inviting, warm, and cozy. Our hosts anticipated every need, and the extra touches, such as the electric pillar candles placed around the cabin with a remote, two pairs of binoculars for bird watching, and many more, were delightful!!

BEAUTIFUL area

This was one of (if not) our favorite places we’ve stayed. If you’re debating between a couple places, choose this one. The owners are extremely welcoming, and the farm is honestly incredible - well maintained and the freshest of air. Favorite part was watching the sunrise over the farm from the swinging bench on the porch.

An excellent adventure!

The cabin at Dove Harbour Farm is one of those special places on earth. It is on a plateau in a valley. The views are endless, the property expansive, and the people charming. We had a delightful time exploring the area (in town for a wedding not far away) and it was all just right. Sitting on the porch swing watching the full moon process across a cloudless sky…it was pretty awesome! We will be back for sure.

Dove Harbour Farm är värd

After living in and raising a family in southern New Jersey, Mark and Linda Mason moved to Berlin, PA in 2016 to carry on the long heritage of this eighth-generation family farm. Mark, a veteran of the US Coast Guard, continues his work for the Philadelphia-based non-profit Tech Impact. Linda, a pediatric occupational therapist, continues her work in Somerset County. They are enthusiastic riders on the abundant rail trails of the Laurel Highlands.

Vad som gör detta boende unikt

Philip Wegerlein Sr. was just a teenager when he first explored this area – home only to a few fearless settlers and Fort Oak Grove, a small US government outpost. At 33 years old, he purchased 476 acres of land grant claim in 1773, though he’d been farming and hunting the land since 1768.

In 1785, Philip Wegerlein Jr. received 289 acres of the Farm, which he named Dove Harbour Farm.

Joseph E. Mason, Civil War veteran, Hospital Steward of the 142nd Infantry Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteers, returned from war and fell in love with Philip’s great-niece Elizabeth, settling here at Dove Harbour Farm. The Mason Family has lived here ever since.

The original log house was once located near the northwest corner of the current Farm House. Artifacts from this building are included in the construction of “newer” buildings on the property.

The Barn dates to the 1830’s; the Farm House and many of the outbuildings at Dove Harbour Farm were built during the Civil War years, 1861-65.
