The Balsam House is a wonderful place to stay in Washburn. We were so pleased with everything from the bathroom toiletries to the little bowl filled with delicious chocolates when we returned after a full day of adventures. Great fire pit and large supply of firewood and also a nice grill to cook out. The beds were so comfortable, even the “Coddle” pull out couch! We would recommend this to anyone coming up to the Ashland/ Washburn/ Bayfield area. Thanks to our hosts who thought of everything to make this a memorable stay!

This was a nice place to stay. The property was very well stocked. It is right near town but felt secluded. The property owners were very kind and great to deal with. We would stay again.

Modern home in the north woods of Wisconsin! Loved the kitchen, VERY clean, comfortable beds and well furnished! Great bathrooms and showers very neat as well! Host was very welcoming and helpful! This placed worked great for my wife and I as well as two friends who joined us mid-week from Duluth. Great space with fire pit, grill, and wonderful outdoor seating! Loved our time here to explore the Apostle Islands, Washburn, Bayfield, and northern Wisconsin! Would love to stay here again!

Very new place and had a wonderful time with friends. The host, Norm, was really easy to speak with and helpful with any concerns. Lots of shops nearby and the lake is about a mile away.

Great property! Chatted with the caretaker briefly - very nice and helpful with local recommendations. We happened to be there during some of the hottest stretch of days in quite a while. The AC kept up fine, but note that if your group wants full privacy in the bedrooms the single mini-split can't cool those rooms effectively. Not a problem, just know that going in.

Excellent family stay!

We absolutely loved our time and the house was a perfect peaceful way to spend our family time! Norm and Sue were excellent with communication! We would highly recommend this house! It has all the amenities in a great location!

Perfect home!

The home was absolutely lovely, the bathrooms, and kitchen were perfect. It was close enough to everything, but far enough away that it was private.

Beautiful Balsam House

The house was beautiful! Nestled nicely amongst the trees, it was a perfect location for our stay as we visited The Apostle Islands National Seashore. Just a short drive to Bayfield and the National Seashore, we had fun exploring and sightseeing the area. The house was just as described and met our needs. The Southshore of Lake Superior is just a few blocks walk as is the quaint town of Washburn. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Washburn stay

Property was great! Was super happy and relieved there were beach towels. House was cute, clean, and new. Property manager was very helpful about local "must see's". Very surprised and disappointed there was no air conditioning. There were ceiling fans but still 80+ degrees at bedtime and did not feel comfortable leaving the windows wide open.

Corrie, So terribly sorry it was so warm at the Balsam House. Air conditioning is being installed and will be ready for use on July 25th.
