Clean and cute but conflicting
When we arrived, another woman was in the driveway awaiting her entrance code. We booked on VRBO weeks in advance. She booked that day through another site. The property manager was easy to get hold of and confirmed that our booking was correct and that the other one wasn’t active online.
Immediately upon entry we were taken back by the second hand smoke smell. We are a non smoking family and the property listing said no smoking on the property. We found a used razor and shaving cream in the bathroom, one set of towels (there were 7 of us), slightly damp bed sheets and blankets, no shampoo or soap, no bbq grill, and no hot tub (listed on the booking). There was a pile of old trash exposed on the ground near the outdoor trash can, and not enough dinner plates for the number of guests.
We reached out to the property manager. She stated the smoke smell was from the previous guests and they’d worked hard to remove the smell but couldn’t get it all. She apologized for the lack of amenities and left over razor and shaving cream.
Within an hour she arrived with towels, shampoo, and soap. She also brought bottled water and some wine. She removed the razor and shaving cream and said she’d be back with the bbq grill. We put the bed linens in the dryer to remove the remaining dampness and swept the floors.
Later than evening she texted that the bbq grill had a broken leg due to the most recent storm so she wouldn’t be bringing it over.
The surrounding homes had bars on the doors.
