Popham Paradise

Our stay at Jonathan’s place was perfect. We enjoyed waking up each day and having coffee while taking in the breathtaking views from the comfort of the living room and dining room. Checking in was very easy, the house was very clean, and the house has all of the necessary items to make our vacation feel like we were home.

Great location

This cottage is in a splendid location for families looking to spend days at nearby Popham Beach. We really enjoyed the beachfront yard and views from the living room. The house did warm up a lot on hot days. The kitchen is well-equipped and should have everything you need for homemade meals.

This place was great!

I loved the house and the location. When we weren’t walking the beach we watched others walking, fishing and boating. It was big enough and very comfortable. My only suggestion would be to let people know ahead of time that they should bring their own sheets and towels. Other rentals I’ve been to through VRBO had clean sheets and towels bagged up in each room ready for people to put on their beds. I was lucky I brought plenty with me because I had 3 disabled men with me and they have a hard time with a top sheet so I brought fitted sheets and blankets of my own. If I were coming with my family I wouldn’t have brought them. Other than that it was great!

Best stay at the most beautiful beach!

We had the most wonderful stay at this cottage on beautiful Popham Beach! We were a little unsure how it would be because sometimes older houses are not well-maintained but that was not the case here. It has so much character, was well built, cared for, and beautifully maintained. There was plenty of room for our kids to play in the living room, comfortable couches, delightful porch, and everything was nice and clean. We had to bring our own towels and sheets (which was no problem) but everything else had been thought of and there were plenty of blankets, toilet paper, trash bags, and cleaning supplies. The kitchen was well equipped with all of the things we would need to cook while we stayed there. There was also a stack of kid's books that brought so much joy to our kids to look through and read to them at breakfast before heading to the beach. Jonathan was kind enough to check in with us during our stay and there was nothing else we needed. Our son uses a wheelchair and the house was quite accessible for him with a ramp to the door. There is a small lip going into the porch but it was easy for us to help his chair in and out with a little extra push. There were a few stairs down to the beach, but less than most properties and the lawn was nice and flat and smooth, easy for access for our family and kids. We will absolutely be back and this will be our go-to place if they have an opening for us each year!

great location and comfortable house

Great location, walk right out onto the beach with a nice ~4 mile round trip beach walk from the house to Popham State Park beach—most of that is private so nice walking with few people around; or just put your umbrella up right on the beach in front of the house. The point (~8 minutes from the house) where the Kennebec meets the ocean is a really nice spot. The house is a bit rustic on the inside but well stocked with all essentials and plenty of plates, utensils, cooking pots/pans, blender, etc. Nice gas grill just outside the kitchen door. Recommend Crabby Lobster (~15 min away in Sebasco) for cooked lobsters to bring back to the house.

Fabulous!!

The weather was beautiful for October in Maine. While we did explore the area the best part of the week was sitting on the lawn watching the boats, seals and never ending parade of sea birds. The property itself was immaculately clean and very well furnished. The kitchen , living room , and dining room all had wonderful big windows if we just chose to sit inside and watch the goings on outside. The two pairs of binoculars got a lot of use! The rooms themselves were spacious and inviting. The bedrooms are small but cozy and the beds were comfortable. Dealing with Jonathan was a pleasure, he personally called me after I made the booking just to check in and say hi. It was a great experience from start to finish.

Heaven on Earth

The house was perfect !! Well-stocked with essentials, clean, welcoming, and and just perfect. Location could not be beat !! Jonathan was fabulous to work with. He responded to my messages promptly and was a perfect host. I stayed for 2 weeks with extended family visiting in shifts. Plenty of room for 7 adults. Plan to rebook for next year !!

Beautiful property!

Very helpful owner who supplied us with kayak paddles, which we had forgotten, and sheets, which we hadn't realized we needed to bring. Bedrooms are very small, but the living area is expansive, with such a beautiful view.

Wonderful stay!

Our family's vacation at Jonathan's property was wonderful. The spacious living/dining was perfect for our family to be together and comfortably visit, enjoy the ocean sights from the large pictures windows and have multiple cribbage games going on at the same time. The large yard allowed for us to play whiffle ball, croquet, frisbee and/or read and relax in the chairs. The ocean is just steps away from the property, couldn't be better. Jonathan was available and attentive to our needs. Highly recommend! We are a family of 5 adults, 2 children and an infant. Looking forward to next year!

Comfortable and delightful

We were very comfortable and had plenty of room to spread out. The location was perfect, just close enough to the beach to provide easy access and gorgeous views of Georgetown Island. Our experience was peaceful and pleasing all the way around. We felt right at home in the house, nice wood floors and walls, a perfect beach house. We hope to book it again!

Wonderful week!

We loved our stay on Popham Beach! Jon and Linda were very helpful and responsive when we had questions both before and during our visit. The cottage was lovely - we especially enjoyed sitting in the family room taking in the beautiful scenery from the big picture windows. The kitchen was very well equipped and we cooked quite a bit so we wouldn't have to leave the beach that we loved so much. We personally didn't care for the taste of the (clean and safe) well water so just grabbed some bottled drinking water at the grocery. Being right on the beach was definitely the best part; it was so easy to head out for a walk, swim, visit Fort Popham, or grab ice cream at Spinney's. We also used our trip to venture on some college tours with our teenagers and the location was great for that, too. (We're secretly hoping our daughter chooses Maine for college next year so we'll have an excuse to return to this cozy cottage!)

The McIntosh Cottage was a great cottage - clean, well-equipped, and comfortable.

We had a wonderful time! It was fun to watch the seals in the river - sometimes there were 15! We walked on Popham Beach, went to the fort, and ate at Spinney's and Percy's - all within easy walking distance. The owners, Linda and Jon, checked in with us and were easily accessible. We will surely visit the cottage again!

Beautiful house! Amazing location!

Our family had a wonderful stay at Linda's house on Popham beach. We have two little kids so enjoyed being on the river side of beach where waves were small still ocean water and quick walk up to the point to get to the big beach. Very convenient having beach just at end of yard so can go in an out all day long. House is great, amazing views and very comfortable! Linda and Jon were great to work with. Easy to communicate with, responsive to our questions and generally friendly and nice! Fresh air moves through house well. Our only complaint was mosquitos outside on road/driveway side of house were quite bad. Thankfully we didn't want to be there much anyway. Many people around said mosquitos in the area were much worse than usual this year so we are looking forward to going back next year!

A pictureque setting

We all enjoyed our stay immensely. The cottage is roomy and is in a great location with amazing views from the windows facing the river. We were able to view some marvelous sunrises during early morning coffee at the kitchen and dining room tables. The spacious yard is a plus with young children!
