Welcome to The Modern Desert Oasis, a historic home designed in 1959 by renowned modernist architect, Hugh Kaptur. This post-and-beam 3 bedroom, 2 and a ½ -bath vacation home boasts a timeless appeal. The great room, (family/dining room) features stunning views of the pool and San Jacinto Mountain. Kaptur’s design, exemplifies the Mid-century concept to the fullest, incorporating floor to ceiling sliders opening to the pool area from every room in the house. Enjoy stepping back in time as you experience this tranquil piece of paradise.
The Front Outdoor Space
The front outdoor space is true to the era. Vivid orange sails stretch over the pool surroundings, providing necessary shade all year long. Ample seating, lounges, umbrellas, and an outdoor table are provided for poolside comfort. Slide open what appears to be a cabana, only to discover a uniquely decorated Tiki style poolside hang-out. A glowing fire pit awaits a group of guests, and the large spa/hot tub is constantly heated providing a “spur of the moment” area to relax.
The Living Space
The front door leads into an open floor-plan including a grand living and dining room situated off the unique, a well equipped kitchen and bar area.
This updated kitchen, featuring top-of-the-line Bosch stainless steel appliances integrated into the leathered stone island is strikingly unique.. Zebrawood cabinetry preserves the home’s modern allure. It is equipped with everything you’ll need to whip up signature dishes from home! It is fully supplied with all you will need for entertaining; Drip coffee maker and a De’longhi Espresso machine, cooking utensils, spices, cooking oil, BBQ tools, Zip-locks, Plastic wrap, foil, Tupperware, indoor dining ware, in addition to melamine and shatterproof glasses for pool-side usage.
Out Back
Enjoy the large barbeque and seating for your convenience. Thank you for assuring that the gas is off when you are finished you’re your grilling.
Bedrooms
Each bedroom features a luxury mattress, blackout blinds, top quality linens, bath & pool towels, shower amenities, extra linens, & air humidifiers to help you sleep your best at night. The home sleeps 6-8, perfect for two couples and a few kids, with one king, and three queens.
The Art
Art in the rooms was chosen to enhance the authentic mid-century ambience. If you are interested in purchasing any particular piece, contact Justin as some pieces are for sale. See Art explanations.
Heated Water?
Spa/hot tub is always heated for no additional charge.
Optional pool heat is available at an additional cost of $75/night or $400 weekly. Pool heat is recommended October thru May.
Dogs are welcome for an additional cost of $100 per dog for your stay. (For cleaning purposes)
Trash Cans- Thank you for taking-out your trash daily. The large cans near the car port will be magically moved to the edge of the property and then returned inside the gate.(a service)
Security
The property is equipped with exterior security cameras in the front yard. Cameras are installed primarily as a theft deterrent and to avoid police dispatch. Security cameras are not monitored and should not be relied on for personal safety. No cameras are placed inside, or with any view of the interior of the property or the pool area. Security cameras may be used to verify compliance with rental policies. It is imperative to check that all sliders and doors are properly locked whenever you leave the property.
Service Providers
Service providers such as pool cleaners and gardeners are scheduled regularly for service while you’re staying with us. They let themselves into the yard without notice, and depart.
Pool cleaners - Tuesday and Friday mornings
Landscaper/Gardener - Monday mornings

In upholding the premium quality of our property and ensuring the serenity of our surroundings, we require all guests to adhere strictly to both city and house regulations. The city prohibits the playing of loud music and any loud noises, with stringent enforcement against parties, events, music, street parking, and disruptive behavior. Please note that loud music is prohibited at all times, and quiet hours extend from 9:00 pm to 10:00 am, during which guests are kindly urged to be indoors and mindful of their neighbors. Additionally, the number of overnight guests must not surpass the occupancy limit specified for the property.
Your understanding and adherence to these guidelines contribute significantly to maintaining the excellence of our accommodations and fostering a peaceful coexistence within our community. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring a harmonious experience for all.
The City of Palm Springs requires an additional written contract which will be sent to you shortly after booking with Airbnb. To make things simple, the terms and conditions are the same as our house rules.

This property has been well-established, and has been a busy short term rental for the many years. It has recently changed new management to Justin, listed as host. Justin and his wife have an extensive background in hospitality and are eager to ensure the property is well appointed. Feel free to reach out to the host if you would like any special arrangements prior to your arrival. Board games and toys are in cabinets to entertain all ages. Most rooms have large TV’s with remotes. Relax by the outdoor fire-pit and take in the breathtaking view of the desert sky at night. This property is truly a “Modern Desert Oasis.”
