Having never been to Maine we chose this location somewhat blindly to stay at while in the Jonesport area. Idyllic, yes, but it was SO MUCH MORE! We fell in love with Bridge View. Not only does it retain the feel of an old fishing village, there are treasures in every nook and cranny, and the hosts encourage their guests to explore. Each day we found something new, from 50s and 60s comics and magazines, to old albums and a turntable, to many books on the history of the âDowneast.â The hosts provided guides for eateries, hiking trails (Seaduck Point is enchanted), to unique things to do and see, but the best was that our host provided personal suggestions that helped us as we ventured out into the area. And thereâs a boat, which seemed strange to us but as we drove through Maine we learned this is a common sight. This boat has been made into a small, nicely stocked bar. The deck of the boat provided an elevated place to sit where you could see the the water, the uniqueness of the island, and a harbor dotted with boats. Iâm a big guy, so getting down into the boat was not an easy task, but I loved the sunset from up top. And, after seeing the magical night sky, without the city light pollution, I wondered if I had ever seen the stars before. This is a one in a million find! It was just two of us, but Bridge View could easily have slept 5, maybe 6. There is so much to do in this area, youâll have to do some driving, but the scenery is rich with history and personality.
