The great Redwood SKYWALK at the Zoo!! And there are so many other things to do... Worldwide, we are known for the glorious Kinetic Sculpture Race & the Kinetic Universe- every May, after the Tall Ships sail in. June brings the [baseball] Crabs back, the Oyster Festival and the Trinidad Fish Fry. July has spectacular fireworks over the Bay, Rodeo Week, & the Folklife Festival. In August this is the best haven to avoid the heat everywhere else, go to the County Fair, Woofstock, & see the Dog Agility Trials. September is lovely on all of the rivers and for Cruz'N Eureka. October is very busy with the Apple Harvest Festival, Pastels on the Plaza, & more. November begins Crab Season, the Intertribal Gathering, and the Mushroom Festival. December has many holiday celebrations including the Symphonies, the Tractor & Truckers' Christmas Convoy, and the Tuba Santas. January has the mildest weather of anywhere, the Eureka Crab Celebration, & the beginning of Steelhead Days for tasty fishing. February is the Inked Hearts Tattoo Festival & the Valentines Sunset Paddle. In March the Aleutian Cackling Geese "Fly Off", it's the educational & entertaining Dog Expo, plus the Redwood Coast Jazz Festival. April is for Godwit Days, the Intern'l Film Festival, & [Steam] Donkey Days. And the 1st Saturday of every month is Arts Alive!
Also, check out "Humboldt Made" for the many cottage industries that have gotten their start here... Dick Taylor Chocolate, Cypress Grove Chevre, and Lost Coast Brewery are among the most beloved.
But here in Humboldt County, Nature rules. Humboldt State University recently won the honor of havin g the highest score on the nationwide "Get Outside" competition by Outdoor Nation.
The reason? The beach, the mountains (snow in winter!), the rivers, the redwood forests (zip-lining!), the ocean - all are very close by and easily accessed. Fishing, sailing, horseback riding, jet boats, kayaking, biking, running, camping, surfing -
Sky's the limit!
