Our mistake was failing to check the reviews before booking. On reading them, we were alarmed but hoped the problems had been rectified. In fact, some of them had been. There were no bats, the sliding glass door does lock and there is some newer patio furniture. Unfortunately we encountered new problems that should be documented.
We have stayed in many rentals and, honestly, this is one of the highest prices we have ever paid (off season, mostly crappy weather). So to have no Wi-Fi or tv channels (just some old dvdâs, mostly for kids) is very sad. Now add to that the following:
The entry key code did not work.
The microwave does not work. Supposedly someone from Vacasa was bringing one out as well as giving us a credit âfor our inconvenienceâ but we never saw either the microwave or the credit and never heard from them again. Hugely inconvenient as I mostly brought food for microwaving.
There were no spoons (found them just before we left in the dishwasher, which I did not use) no coffee filters, tin foil, scissors, wine glasses, oven mitt, pepper, tea kettle, floor mat to wipe wet feet, tv remote or privacy curtains on slider. You know, basic stuff.
The dryer only heats on âdelicateâ. Found this out the hard way after much time and experimentation and wet clothes.
There was no heat upstairs. In reading old comments I noticed that someone a while back had been too hot, couldnât control it, so switched off the breaker. Fortunately we got that back on, no thanks to Vacasa, who sit in an office far away and know very little about the property.
The whole heating and lighting system is very confusing (switches that donât do anything, lights that have no switches, etc) and there are no instructions, explanations or labels on anything.
On the positive side; yes, the view is great, the house was clean inside and quiet and the proximity to some fabulous trails was wonderful.
But a house with so many limitations should have that reflected in the price. Still waiting for that âcreditââŠ.
