Short beach trip

The condo is perfect for a couple looking for a quick getaway with all the things needed to cook for yourself and get great views of the beach. The condo was under construction but that did not impact us as they didn’t work on any of the days we were there. The bedroom could use a curtain due to the bright hall light outside of the window. The place was exactly how they described it and the bed was very comfortable. The view was great and the beaches were very empty of people which gave us a lot of peace and privacy! Would stay again!

December Warmth

First time in Corpus Christi - The balcony view was fantastic - peaceful. The sun in the morning is a little intense, though :) Enjoyed walking on the beach and touring the USS Lexington.

Just the right size for our stay

While we had a rough start due to AC unit not wanting to work but Rhea got someone to come and fix it and the condo was just the right size for myself and my husband. I also liked the fact that the washer and dryer were easily accessible and right outside of the condo. Also while there were stairs leading up to the condo at the opposite end there was an elevator that my husband used mysehuwasherareeaassesible

Corpus Christi Condo

Condo property grounds and exterior were really run down. No elevator available for beach gear etc. Front staff were friendly and efficient. Inside condo was perfect for an adult and two children. Linen and towels were clean. Everything was surface clean but badly needed a deep clean i.e. Air vents were thickly crusted with dirt, dirt and fingerprints covered door edges, etc. interior needed some maintenance. It was very difficult to open sliding door to balcony and the closet doors in the bedroom almost fell off when we tried to open them. Kitchen was well equipped and small amenities like paper towels and plastic bags were provided which was appreciated. We were delighted to find beach chairs and a beach cart provided for use. We didn't use the beach cart however because taking it down two flights of stairs was too difficult. The beach was perfect! It was clean and not too crowded and the proximity to the condo was amazing. We had a great time!!

NOT WHAT YOU EXPECT IT TO BE

My husband and I decided to take our first trip away from our kids in 5 years for our wedding anniversary and thought a nice quiet condo on the beach would be perfect. Upon arrival it was an instant discomfort. The area is not great. The building is old and looks like its falling apart. The condo was ok as far as size goes but it was hard to sleep or even consider bringing food into it after seeing 2 roaches and a cricket. The balcony did not feel very safe to stand on which would have been our main source for hanging out and enjoying the view. We only stayed one night even though we paid the full weekend. We left as soon as we woke up the next morning. Bed was very uncomfortable and the noise from the neighbors was loud. We tried to call the management company. Voicemail box full and no answer. This was our emergency contact for the weekend. Thank god there were no emergencies. We also emailed her and no response now 2 days later. I do not recommend this location or this company. Very unprofessional. We had to leave on our anniversary and try to find a new place to finish out our first weekend away from our kids in 5 years.

Corpus Weekend

This condo was exactly what I was looking for! Bayfront unit allows Gulf breezes to mix with sound of the waves right inside the front room. Beach access by just walking downstairs is great! Two pools are available which kept them less crowded. The property was pretty quiet. It seemed like many of the units were owner occupied. This unit could sleep 4 utilizing the set of bunk beds. Kitchen had all the appliances and disheee for 4-6 people. Not much in the way of restaurants or things to do in the immediate vicinity but Blackbeards was real good. Checkin was super easy thru the VRBO process. I’d stay again!

This was a nice condo for our 5 day stay. It had everything we needed to cook our meal when we wanted to stay in. Great ocean views! We’ve stayed in other several other condos at this resort and would definitely recommended updating to stay competitive with them. Otherwise, everything was perfect. Thanks for the stay.

This place is terrible, I cannot believe I got this off a Vrbo listing.

We showed up at around 730 or so and pulled up to villa del sol complex, the building literally is falling down, we didn’t really want to even get out of the car but we had been on the road 8 hrs and had booked this through Vrbo how bad could it be. Upon entry we are met with a friendly guy make small talk and check in. Pull around, the elevator is broke which was in description, but the stairs were rotting through rusty, tetanus waiting to happen. We open the door immediately hit in face with cleaning smell takes your breath away, burns your eyes The hallway and living room floors are wavy, spongy walking around, fans were broke, bath vent had no cover or anything on it, the ac was drained into the shower, the pvc just poked through the Sheetrock There is mold around the ac ducts, in the hallway, eyes still burning. The balcony was quite shaky when I went out on it. The lights on part of the outside were blinking off and on like a horror movie. When we went to the beach the bottom floor smelt like strong human fecal matter. The pictures of the unit had to be from when they first built it. We have used Vrbo before and have had no issues, but if this is the kinda property’s Vrbo is gonna represent I don’t think I will be using them anymore. If I could tell anyone in the Vrbo company that could do it. I would tell them not to represent any units in the villa del sol surfside complex. You are gonna have lots of angry customers, and it doesn’t look good on you. Thank you Daniel and Christy Wagoner

Deceptive description

Described as "oceanfront " and "gulf views" although it it on the far north side of the bay, 30 minutes from the gulf. It does say what restaurants are close to it, but I didn't know those places and didn't Google them to see where they were. Apartment is a bit rundown. There was an additional fee at check-in I was unaware of.

Beachfront Condo on North Beach Corpus Christi

Starting with the good, check in was easy, the place was clean and they seem to be updating the inside. The VIEW! It was a great view. We had everything we needed for our 3 night stay, which was a nice surprise. Towels were new and fluffy, coffee pot and filters and hand soap at both sinks. The not so good, the baloney is rotting, floor was spongy and when we looked, the floor is cracking in many places and the ceiling of the balcony is falling down. The floor is the unit has the same issues in the livingroom/kitchen area. The front door lock didn’t have instructions, thought it would be like a hotel room door that when it closes it locks….not the case, you have to hit the lock button. Have no idea if the unit was ever locked when we were in it. The building itself is in need of repairs. They were painting, but it definitely needs more than a coat of paint. The general area of North Beach is pretty run down. We really didn’t spend much time here at all, went and explored other areas. All in all, we had a clean condo with everything we needed. So depending on what you are looking to do, the condo was a great deal and I can tell the owners are slowly trying to fix up what they can control. We felt safe, the air conditioning worked great as well as the hot water. Furnishing were nice and cable and wifi worked.

Great views! A work In progress... constant improvements being made! Quick & responsive owners.

Pros: Close to the beach, nice view, the whole area is well lit and we always felt safe. Close to attractions, but we ended up driving b/c there wasn't a great route to just walk without getting sand all in your shoes. We LOVED the Texas State Aquarium! We really enjoyed the USS Lexington Battle ship (be prepared to be exhausted after climbing all of the steps), & our favorite restaurant was Pier 99. Very windy seating area, may have to wait a while for food, but it was so good that we went twice while we were there! All 3 of us really enjoyed our food. Prices a bit high, but that was to be expected. A few things that can be used at the beach were provided, a beach chair, a couple of boogie/body boards (great fun the last day), a brand new collapsable wagon (we didn't end up using, but perfect if you have littles). Good size fridge & kitchen basics. Careful not to assume that everything you need will be there. My husband had to make tea in the blender "pitcher" b/c there were no plastic pitchers for beverages. Cons: The building is definitely older as other reviews have mentioned. There was also some random work being done during "quiet hours," but was usually short lived. There was some noise in the hallways which is noticeable as the bedroom is right next to the hallway & not too far from the stairwell, but was usually short lived and didn't "keep us up through the night." It is a very compact space, so beware if traveling with older kids. We ended up just having my husband and myself and our 12 year old, but it would have been a challenge had there been more people. But, we are used to having plenty of space in our home, so that's probably just a personal preference. The bed is NOT a KING as someone in a previous review stated, & one of the main reasons I chose this location. To be fair the listing does say Queen, but I was hopeful! :) The bed itself was SUPER comfortable, but the top sheet kept sliding around & bunching up and drove me crazy b/c of the mattress cover. That's my issue, but made it hard to sleep. The last night I tried to sleep on the bottom bunk. It was like sleeping on a concrete block. The bunkbeds are NOT made for older teens or adults. It made my whole body hurt. It would be perfect for a small child that doesn't know what a comfortable bed feels like and doesn't have an old achy body! Very quick reply from owners as any issues/questions arose. Nice place if on a budget & love a view!

Comfy cozy perfect view

This is our third time vacationing in CC and the second time staying at VDS! This unit is updated and although small it is thoughtfully laid out and easy to live in. Great view and comfortable sleeping arrangements! Will stay again for sure!

Spring Break

The good: This property was clean and comfortable. It was on the 3rd floor and the balcony was truly private. We kept the doors open even at night to hear the sound of the waves. There were NO BUGS! A previous review said something about cocaroachs but there were none. Conveniently located on North Beach we walked to the USS Lexington and a very short drive to downtown. Minor: Beach access gate did not lock on the first night. They fixed that making it more secure. Very small bedroom. King Size bed was nice and comfortable ( nicer than the picture) but the room is so small be prepared to climb into the bed from the end if someone is already asleep because one person is against the wall. Soft spot on the balcony- I know the sea air is hard on yhe wood but please check this. Couch mattress was horribly stained may need to be replaced Window in bedroom is in the hallway for the units. There is a light on all the time and the blinds do not block this out. Would benefit from room darkening curtain although this will do nothing for the echoing of people walking by at night talking The Bad: This would have recieved 5/5 but some things were out of the owners control. Quiet hours were supposed to be from 10 pm to 10 am but 1 unit over and 1 up was renovating and the contractors stayed much later than 10 (one night I finally fell asleep at 1 am and they were still pounding) and another night they were finishing up at about 11:30. The only other negative was that they were dredging the bay to make it deeper (we learned this on the tour we went on) and that went on all night. It was far enough out that it was more of a nuisance because it ruined the sounds of the bay especially at night. All in all. I would highly recommend this place. Thank you for allowing us this opportunity. We had a blast for our first time in Corpus Christi!!!

Great location, very clean and not overcrowded beach area. A few beach toys, towels, chairs and wagon were provided in our room which were a huge plus! All around great for a small family or couple. Will book again!

Amazing view of the water from unit!

The unit was great and had an amazing view!! The building needs lots of work. I was so thankful the elevator was working when we visited! The only thing I’d recommend for the unit is to get some higher chairs for the balcony. The rail blocks the view. Thank you so much! We will return the unit and beds were cozy and comfy!

Nice!

Beautiful beach front view. The condo is extremely clean and well organized. It is smaller than we thought. It didn't matter to us because there was only two. The living room is very small as is the kitchen but it's functional if you're not doing a lot of cooking. Super convenient. A lot of care has been put in to making the condo comfortable.

Condo needs work beyond cosmetics

Major Cockroaches in kitchen. One large, one colossal. No deadbolt or peephole on entry door. This is a serious security risk. No handles on sliding balcony doors. Door can’t be locked, just a stick to prop it shut. Bathroom electrical outlet apparently not GFCI protected. Not enough linens provided. None for sofa, no duvet for one bunk. No mattress pads on either bunk bed, just wrong-size fitted sheets and one wrong-size duvet. Maid brought some additional bedding upon request. Interior doors, especially bathroom, all stick, and need planing badly. Bathroom extractor fan not working, cover missing. Balcony floor deteriorating, plywood is soft. Minor Mattress too high in bedroom and gave one of us a sore back. Unpainted wall and ceiling area on balcony, rusty screws and brackets left lying around. Sink drain stopper missing in bathroom. Trash can lid not working. Soft spot in floor by stove. Insufficient comfortable seating for four. Lacking a coffee table or small side tables either indoors or on balcony. No elevator access, and condo is actually on the THIRD floor. Entire complex felt rundown. The parking security gate is rusted out and the elevator had blue tarps that looked permanent.
