Hospitable host, clean accommodations, well-stocked kitchen, and terrific location

The location of this unit is perfect for a walk through Ashland, excellent access to plaza, Lithia Park, theatres, and Safeway. The accommodations were clean and the kitchen is well-stocked with utensils and dishes.

Great Location

The property was exactly as described. Unit was clean, AC worked great. Courtyard was shaded and quiet and the property owner had no problem with us locking up our expensive bikes inside the yard instead of out at the bike rack. Will stay here again when visiting Ashland.

Just right

Perfect location for short walk to OSF, restaurants and downtown area. Cozy space, but with enough room to spread out. Kitchen equipped enough to cook if you choose. Friendly host.

well appointed cottage

The unit is within walking distance of the downtown area. The small yet adequate kitchen has just what one needs. The two beds were just the right firmness and the bathrooms are roomy and very clean. I loved the porch swing outside the front door looking out on the new lawn area.

Dogwood Suite

It was wonderful to be in Ashland again for the Shakespeare Festival and to be staying in the Dogwood Suite. We have stayed here on previous visits to Ashland. This location is within walking distance to the main shopping area and the theaters. There is a lovely garden that is shady in the afternoons for resting in and the unit itself is very comfortable. Always a pleasure to stay here.

Nice space

Very clean space with lots of room. Two beds and two bathrooms. Both beds are in the same room but there's also a sofabed if needed. Manageable walk to OSF and the retail area. Overall a good value.

Great location

This is a beautiful property, well furnished but not stocked well. This showplace needs 12 matched dishes, unchipped. What few wine glasses there were are mismatched. We went to thrift store to add to the mishmash. Blender and ice maker not working. Call to owner promised quick repair but he was unable to get service. We survived. A little TLC would earn this place a better rating.

The space felt larger than how it looked in the photos. There was plenty of storage for our clothes and personal items for our one week stay. (There were 2 of us adults plus our child). It was very clean when we arrived. The directions seemed confusing when I first got them, but once we arrived to the address, it made total sense and was super easy to find. Just follow the instructions they send. The kitchen space is small yet plenty adequate for light cooking- the smaller space actually made for an easy clean up. The on-site owner was accommodating and respectful of our privacy. There was a small, very sweet, well trained and mellow dog named Yoshi- who made us wish we had a family dog. We really liked the peaceful and laid back vibe. We will definitely be seeking this rental out again on another trip to Ashland.

Cozy spot for two or three

We've stayed at both apartments at Tudor House this year and we love it! Working with Raleigh is easy and clear. He lets us know important info ahead of time. Both units are cozy and clean and well quipped for making coffee and food in-house. We loved the outdoor space for relaxing and the cute little dog Yoshi. The distance to downtown and OSF is perfect for walking and we love that there's a car charger at the house we can use. In our upper middle age (and with our aging backs) we probably shouldn't ever take a chance on sleeping in a sofa bed we haven't tried before, but we took a chance. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. And the first floor living area is pretty small. So while this suite is a little small for our group of two couples, we'll definitely try for the Maple Suite next time. For a smaller group (couple, family with small kids), this is a great option!

OK Place, but...

The cottage is cute and was clean, so all good there. However, the yard is trashy with weeds, piles of leaves and kids toys scattered about. The cottage does need a bit of maintenance-nothing serious--peeling paint, deck rail needs to be replaced, upstairs shower slow to drain, etc. Also the cottage is in the alley, so it feels isolated and tucked away. That may be a good thing if that is what you are seeking. Overall, the location is OK, and it's a cute place, but for the above reasons we probably won't rent there again.

Cozy and convenient

Check in was a breeze, the property was quiet and conveniently located. We were meeting friends in Ashland, and I needed to work, so the dining area was my "office" for the time that we were there. It was super hot during our stay, but the A/C was very efficient, so we were comfortable for the entire visit. Would definitely stay there again.

Excellent experience

We stayed in the Dogwood Suite for 2 weeks while 2 out of 4 of us attended a class. Raliegh is an excellent host. He lives on the property, but we never saw him unless we needed something. Communication was great and any request was promptly provided. We ended up needing to have something overnighted to us and Raliegh was more than happy to help. I highly recommend staying here. We hope to return.

Good location and charming interior

The location of this home and the charming interior was great. My only complaint of the interior would that there be a firm couch that doesn’t sink in to sit on. Also that internet movie access on the television be available. The exterior courtyard, unfortunately, was not what the pictures depicted. I imagine that is do to the current construction project. To my disappointment and a rude awakening I discovered how it would impact my stay of 2 days. The peaceful retreat I was hoping for wasn’t an option. I needed to adjust my plans to be away while the construction took place during the day. Thankfully, the host was easy to contact and understanding of my disappointment. He agreed to some compensation that I felt was fair. That said, I do believe that the if host would have informed me ahead of time of the on site construction, I could have adjusted my plans to stay at another location and maybe could revisit on my next occasion. I imagine once construction is complete this will be quite a comfortable and peaceful place to stay.

Lovely, clean space

Overall, this place was great. Very clean and comfortable. The host lives next door and was very helpful/responsive with questions, and even took extra time to help us get the outside heater set up (twice!) for an evening visit in the winter. I would have appreciated more details in the listing, specifically about the fact that the yard is shared with the owners. We were surprised to be greeted by a dog and children playing in the backyard when we arrived and had friends come to visit us outside. This would be nice to know in normal circumstances, even if it's not a big deal, but during COVID this is essential information. To their credit, they left the yard to us so we could visit safely with our friends. And our kids loved their sweet (and small) dog. So it all worked out. Just would have liked a heads up in advance. We still would have booked the place knowing this info, and it did not take away from our stay. More details of a space on the listing would have been appreciated. Honestly, if there had been more options when we were looking, I would not have picked this place, simply because there wasn't much description. The kitchen is a full kitchen, but it is very small. Because we were not eating out, cooking all our meals for 4 was a challenge. I did appreciate that all the basic appliances and cooking utensils were available, but we could have used a little bit more of everything for cooking and eating to accommodate that much cooking. This kitchen is probably all anyone needs during normal vacations, since you're probably eating out and enjoying shows, etc. It's perfectly located. I walked to the downtown plaza in only 15 minutes. It was quiet and felt private. I never heard any noise from next door, so had no issues with the shared aspect, other than what I mentioned before. Overall, great place I would recommend to others.

After innkeeping for 13 years, the birth of twin boys in 2011 meant big changes for the Grantham Family. At the end of the 2012, we moved into the main part of the house and quit serving breakfast at Ashland's Tudor House B&B.
