Unit was clean and largely as expected—very tiny. However, the photos did not make clear that the pull-out couch, once extended, leaves no room at the foot of the bed to walk around—if two people sleep there, one person has to climb over the other to get out of bed. Also, it’s not a real mattress, just built-in couch cushions. The host was very responsive to messages, but the check-in process left much to be desired. Our check-in time was 3pm, and when we landed in San Diego at 7pm I realized I still didn’t have the code to get into the unit. When I reached out to the host/manager, he responded quickly with an explanation about a prior guest who didn’t leave on time and saying that the unit would be ready soon, but it seems crazy not to give us a heads up in advance and just wait for us to reach out—what if we had been at the gate, kids and luggage in tow, before I realized we didn’t have the code?! The unit was ready by the time we got there, but there was still a frustrating lack of info provided. For example, there was nothing in the app about how to access the WiFi—I had to reach out to the host to ask. He again responded quickly, and it turns out there is a plaque on the wall that you just tap with your phone, but that’s the sort of info that should be provided without asking. Fair warning, sound also travels exceptionally well between the bedroom and the living room where the pull-out couch is.
