Great stay!

Hillside was a great stay with all the amenities we needed and enjoy...covered porch, full kitchen with ice maker, cable tv if needed and WiFi. Would definitely choose again!

Quiet, quaint getaway cottage

The Hillside Cabin is perfectly located and the property has little nuances that are unique to it, like the cardinal who hangs out on or by the car and the little fairie garden behind the cabin. Even saw a deer wander by our first night!

4 night in Hill Country

Loved the layout. Cabin was clean and easy to locate. View was nice and enjoyed sitting on front porch. It really fit all our needs and looking forward to a return trip.

Relaxing

The cabin was a nice place just to sit back and relax. The cabin was very clean and had all the amenities one would have in their own home. It was a very quiet and relaxing stay.

Quiet and peaceful cabin with a country hillside view.

If you like the seclusion of the countryside, and being just 8 miles from town, you'll love this place. Fully equipped cabin that makes you feel like you're right at home.

Great place to unwind and get away from the stresses of the city. Very quiet with nature all around. Beautiful view and wonderful breezes! We honestly hated to leave!! If you want some peace and just time to relax this is the place! We loved it!!

We have stayed at the Hillside Cabin for many years. We are there every May. We love this cabin. It is perfect for a couple. It is clean, quiet, and very relaxing. The full kitchen is nice if you want to prepare meals at the cabin. The wildflowers around the cabin were beautiful this year. We will continue to come back.

Favorite home away

We have stayed many times in the Hillside Cabin and enjoy the comfort and quiet every time. The WiFi and internet have been upgraded and work great. Did have a slow drain in the bathroom sink that was fixed during our stay. This is our first choice place in F'burg.

Great cabin

The cabin was clean and in great order. Plenty of supplies for the entire weekend. Very quaint, quiet, and peaceful place. Sittin on the porch in the mornin with coffee watchin the birds and sunrise then in the evenin with scotch watchin nature and the sunset. It's a great place to unwind and recharge. Will definitely be back.

Hillside Cabin

We enjoyed our stay. The cabin was clean and well furnished. It was nice waking up and see 7 deer nearby. If I may make a couple of suggestions. The tree where you park could be trimmed and the intake to the exhaust fan in the bathroom needs cleaning.

Our favorite

We have stayed many times at the Hillside Cabin and enjoy it every time.It is well furnished and very comfortable for us. The porch is a great place to watch life in the hill country with shade and a good breeze, even in July heat. The trip into town is quick and easy, but the country environment seems much more removed from the city action. Overall, a great place to relax from our normal big-city life.

Thoroughly enjoyed.

As always we thoroughly enjoyed our little getaway at the Hillside Cabin. Watching the birds and deer by day and stargazing at night, it was just what we needed. Only one thing could have improved our visit and that's a little larger bed with a firmer mattress. Still we had a really nice time. We'd love to come back. Thanks.

Hillside Cabin

We have stayed at this property for many, many years on an annual basis. This is a great, peaceful, property. It is great for two people. The owners continually update the furnishings at this cabin. We could not be happier. The front deck/porch area is wonderful. This year there was a resident cardinal on the property. The cardinal enjoyed looking at himself in the mirror of our car each day. We will see you again next year if not before.

Great getaway

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hillside Cabin. It was nice to have the peaceful of the countryside but still be close to town. We saw lots of wildlife during our stay, so keep your camera close. The kitchen had plenty of supplies. I wish we could have had full use of the chest of drawers and more than two hangers. But I'm sure that can be fixed easily and it wasn't a big enough deal to affect the over rating of this beautiful property.

Overall content with the stay

We went to get the key for our cabin in downtown Fredricksburg. At check in, we received a key and 3 breakfast coupons to use during our stay. When we got to our cabin, we realized that we received the wrong key and at the same time, the property manager called to inform us of the same. So, we had to drive back to get the correct key and were also asked to return our breakfast coupons for some reason which led to us wasting about an hour. We asked for late check out for the inconvenience and were granted an extra hour for check out. Other than this, the cabin was nice, clean, comfortable, and fairly private.

This is about the 3rd or 4th time we have stayed at Hillside Cabin. It fits the style perfectly for how we like to stay when we or away from home. We have always found it to be clean and ready. However, we did have a couple of issues this time. When we arrived the shower curtain and rod had fallen off and it was not where it could be easily fixed. We called the office and were told we could probably use the shower without the curtain because it was wide but it still got the floor wet and we had to keep that wiped up. Also there were only 4 wash cloths for 2 adults/4 nights. It was a little inconvenient this trip but not enough to keep us from renting Hillside again.

Hillside Cabin Review

My wife and I come to Fredericksburg every May. We always stay at the Hillside cabin. They redid the shower and it is GREAT! They needed to make that improvement. My only recommendation would be to get rid of the greenery in the house that sits mainly on the floor in the house. It is several years old and adds nothing to the decor in the house. The greenery just serves as a residence for dirt and pests. Our experience with Gastehaus is always superb. Our keys were in the mailbox when we arrived on Sunday. We got into Fredericksburg around 11 am on Sunday. We went and ate, and then picked up our keys. It was nice to be able to get into the Cabin around 12:30 pm. Thanks for providing such a good experience. We will see you next May, God willing! Thanks again!

Clean and comfortable, but small issues

We very much appreciated being allowed to check in an hour early, as we were staying at this rental due to a medical procedure planned at the hospital early next morning. However, the living room TV worked for about 15 minutes before it quite working. The coffee pot leaked water all over the kitchen cabinet. We noticed no window coverings on the windows in the living/kitchen areas online, so no surprise about that feature. But experiencing the open windows after dark in person gave us an uncomfortable feel. Overall the rental was super clean, private, and cozy. We got a good night's sleep on the nice mattress and enjoyed the roomy, sparkling clean bathroom. I definitely recommend this rental if you enjoy nature and cleanliness, but be sure to ask if the living room TV and coffee pot have been replaced or at least checked out. pfjw and jrw Feb 2023
