Detta är en underbart unik fastighet i ultra pittoreska fiskebyn Corea, Maine.

Vår familj köpte The Boathouse 1970. Paketet innehöll en fristående enhet tvärs över gatan som kan göras tillgängliga för extra gäster på begäran. Besök vår notering för Porchside Harbor House på Corea Harbor här på VRBO eller på Homeaway - sök egendom # 3774672! Gör det till en förening! Båthus är en väder grå shingled, rustik två våningar struktur som sitter rakt på en fisketur kaj i hjärtat av byn Corea. Den renoverades 1977 i sin nuvarande form av vår pappa, Victor Kristus-Janer, som var en internationellt erkänd arkitekt med en kärlek till det enkla livet.

Båthus har 180 graders utsikt över hamnen från soldränkta övervåningen kök och matplats. Läs en bok eller titta på båtarna komma och gå från hamnen på gated utomhus kajen däck. Breezes överflöd som du lyssnar på tidvattnet komma in under fötterna!

Du kan enkelt gå, jogga eller cykla dig runt hamnen. Ta med en kamera eller en skissbok - det finns en foto-op var tionde steg! Utforska relativt oupptäckta sidovägar, rock promenader, upptäcka den soliga stranden som ger vika för den sandrev som tar dig till en ö prospektering vid lågvatten, plocka vilda blåbär eller köpa en hink med hummer på båt-Side Pris från Corea Co-op.

Människor kommer till Corea (en gång kallade indiska Harbor) för den långsamma men upptäcker att restauranger, gatukök, matinköp, wi-fi kaffe bar och konditori, tvättomat, 5 & 10 är alla en naturskön 10-minuters bilresa bort. På vägen knäppa en bild på den gigantiska Beach Cliff (Stinsons) fiskare står vid ingången till den gamla sardin fabriken. I närheten av Winter Harbor är hem till Schoodic halvön avsnitt av Acadia National Park. Kör eller cykla 8 mil slinga väg. Vandra en av flera spår till toppen av Schoodic Point.

Mata måsar; titta på vågorna kraschen på den klippiga kusten med Mt. Desert Island i bakgrunden.

För en längre utflykt, du är 30 minuter från Ellsworth för stora köpcentra, stor låda butiker, apotek, mer bra mat. Corea är cirka 50-60 minuters rida över till Bar Harbor och Acadia National Park. Om de små behöver distraktion, vägen från Ellsworth mot Bar Harbor är ditt svar. Mini-golf, äventyrsbad, natursköna flygplan rider, en liten djurpark för att nämna några kommer att passa räkningen. A great location on the water. Walking distance to two different dog friendly restaurants so you can get your lobster how ever you want. The railing on the porch made a perfect spot for our dog to lay in the sun and watch the world go by.

View of harbor was amazing! Nothing like hearing the rumble of the lobster boats at 4 am as they start their day. Oh so fun to watch. Don't miss the sun rising over the harbor. God's paintbrush on the sky.Lunch on the Wharf and Bell Bouy for seafood. Great vacation

The Boathouse, which has the most spectacular view of the harbor, was undoubtedly a perfect place to spend a week. The sound of lobster boats heading out at dawn was magical! The Boathouse is quirky, but very comfortable, with everything you need to stay a week. Loved sitting on the deck and enjoying the quiet of the neighborhood. Lunch on the Wharf offered some good lunches with a great view. We also enjoyed heading out of Corea for dinner at the Pickled Wrinkle and Bunker’s Seafood. All in all we had a most enjoyable week at the Boathouse…thank you Kathy for sharing this bit of paradise!

The view is great.Corea Harbor is a classic down east lobstering village. The folks are friendly and there are many new dog friends for your pup to meet.The two story layout of the boathouse is a bit challenging for older folks with mobility issues. Sorry to say we have become those “older folks” and will need to find another rental for our annual visit to the Schoodic peninsula.

We've enjoyed stays at the Boathouse for years; it's such a special place - the views can't be beat! We could sit on the back deck our entire stay and be mesmerized by the amazing light, the lobstermen/women heading out and returning, the movement of the boats when they're docked and the wildlife. So incredibly relaxing!

If you like being perched above the water in a picturesque harbor with stellar views on 3 sides, this is for you. Clean, sunny, pretty well appointed and fun to be in. Two restaurants right down the street. Fun to watch the tides and lobstermen coming and going. Host very responsive!

There are reasons we're repeat visitors, spanning close to 15 years. A few: the location is off the beaten path, the Boathouse is utterly charming, the rhythms of a working fishing harbor...almost hypnotic, Kathy is ever helpful and welcoming, the salty air and finally...there's nothing like the tide going in and out to remind one of a constancy that exists beyond the chaos.

Boathouse fun

This was the 2nd time we’ve stayed in the boathouse. And it was just as great as the first time! Accommodations were very good and the scenery out the windows was interesting & varied …..with the lobstermen coming and going each day. Also, the Wharf next door was an excellent eating place on the pier!

Gorgeous location and views

We love Corea and the Boathouse is perched on a wharf right on the harbor. Lobster boats right out front, Lunch on the Wharf right nearby and tons of nature things to do all within easy reach. The house is nicely appointed and convenient to Schoodic Point national park, hiking trails, bird watching and much more. It is a two story house and there are stairs.

Lovely village, great walks. Rental a bit rustic but charming. Great views. There should be a welcoming packet with directions for trash removal, where to leave thermostat settings and who to contact if you get accidentally locked out.

Great place especially if spending days hiking

It was a good place for us since we were spending our days out in nature. Though it was an hour drive to acadia National park we could easily do it. No frills but we wanted to on the water, that was why we wanted it. The property manager was very nice and helpful.

Beautiful harbor view

We loved the boat house. It has everything you need and the location gave us an up close look at a real working lobster fishing village. We met locals who were very anxious to talk about their village and offer suggestions for activities. We enjoyed just sitting on the deck watching the boats in the harbor and walking to the beach by the bay. Katherine, our host was so nice and available to answer any questions. We would definitely visit again.

Longing to go Back...

What a fantastic rental! We thoroughly enjoyed corresponding with Kathy—a considerate, kind, helpful host—even before we arrived at the Boathouse. Once we arrived, we never wanted to leave. The views of the harbor are mesmerizing, and the house is very well outfitted. One of the unexpected pleasures of renting the Boathouse was being in the village of Corea. It was a pleasure chatting with neighbors as we walked our Corgi every morning—we felt like we were part of a community—and we also enjoyed the lobster rolls at Lunch on the Wharf and the Bell Buoy, both walkable. We definitely hope to rent again!

We had a wonderful stay and are so grateful to Kathy for sharing her home with us! The view in this house is unbeatable—right on the harbor in Corea. We significantly preferred the Schoodic Peninsula to being more in Bar Harbor. It is way quieter, but absolutely stunning. The house is close to delicious and more affordable seafood right off the boat, it’s a 5 minute walk from a sweet catch your dinner lobster boat tour, and good driving distance from both Bar Harbor and cool places like Lubec and Eastport further north. Communication with Kathy was easy and kind, checking in was easy, and the house had everything we needed. Thank you again!

Home was comfortable and clean and had everything we needed including linens, bath and kitchen. There was no cable or satellite tv but we brought a streaming stick as instructed and enjoyed movies at night. Wifi was great.We were able to bring our dog which was important and we enjoyed a lot of local hikes and beaches. The entire town was friendly and welcoming and gave us great suggestions where to go and how to get there.Staying right on the wharf and harbor was a really neat experience. We watched the boats come and go out of the harbor, which was peaceful and beautiful and not noisy for being on a working wharf.We walked to and ate at Lunch on the Wharf which was right next to the boathouse. Menu was varied, from burgers to fresh seafood, and was very reasonably priced.Our host was so friendly and helpful with great communications. All in all we loved our stay and will definitely be back!

A Slice of Heaven

I've lived in Maine my whole life and have never experienced a place quite like the Boathouse in Corea. It was the quintessential coastal Maine experience. The house was lovely and quirky and comfortable. The working harbor and surrounding town was enchanting. We met many locals and truly felt as though we could move right in and enjoy life. Kathy, the owner, was a dear and included so many nice touches-from a welcome gift to suggested outings and eateries. Everything was idyllic. We were so sad to leave and even have spoken about returning in winter, or when we retire and can stay on forever! Thanks, Kathy. Corea is truly a gem!

Corea is a slice of history you feel the minute you get out of your vehicle and smell the water or hear the bell buoy as the waves crash on the ledges on Cranberry Point. Sun or fog, you know you've taken a small step back into the past while most importantly, being able to live in the moment! Retirement in Corea? I've been thinking about that since I was 14. My name is Katherine Christ-Janer. I am the owner and manager of The Boathouse at Corea Harbor. Our family has owned The Boathouse and also the house across the street since the early 1970’s. My sister presently owns the house across the street as now both our parents have passed, so it is now our privilege to continue on.

Our family lived in New Canaan, Connecticut where my father Victor had a successful architectural firm during the hay-day of the mid-century modernist movement. My mother Beth was a homemaker and together they raised us kids. We were so fortunate to have many, many sweet summers in Corea.

In 1970, my father was touring with the Danforth Foundation, giving a series of lectures on architecture in colleges and universities all around the United States. Were it not for a lecture at Colby College in Waterville, Maine in the deep freeze of winter we might not have found Corea. My parents had been considering a summer home for a little while and despite the bitter cold temperatures in the area, my father set out on a mission. He decided to travel the coastline above Bar Harbor to the north. His first stop was the the Schoodic Peninsula. He arrived into Corea met a couple of artist painting from the back of their van. As my father explained what he was doing, the artists told my father that they had just made the drive from the north heading south, painting as they went and that he needn't bother going any further - that there was nothing more beautiful than Corea. This is how we ended up in Corea!

The most unique aspect of the Boathouse is the fact that the house sits directly on a working wharf dead center in the middle of town. Being in the Boathouse feels a bit like being in a boat. You can actually hear the water lapping the rocky shore and underpinnings of the wharf from inside the house. There are lobster traps on the wharf, as our friend Randy fishes from this wharf. You will see him and his boat come and go. The house isn't 'fussy' it is rustic and casual and has some interesting touches. For instance, when finishing the bathroom downstairs, my father retained an interior weathered shingled wall on which fisherman had carved their initials over the years. The enclosed wharf deck allows guest to sit as close to the water as the boats and gives one of the most coveted views of the harbor on the shore.
