This St. Simons Island vacation rental is in a gated community, but it doesn’t play it safe. It lets you let loose because it’s so put together. It's free of vacation rental clichés, yet somehow overflowing with beach condo mojo. 308 Harbour Oaks is a home, not a hotel. That said, it does have a sunny pool, tennis for the restless, and a gym for those who can’t take a break, even from their protein shake. The remodel is fresh, the layout’s dialed, and nothing’s overdone. There’s good light, great beds, and a porch that works just as well for morning coffee as it does for that last glass of wine you all said you weren’t having. The living room has high ceilings and a decorative fireplace that earns its place by making the whole space feel bigger and better. You’re a short walk to Pier Village, 0.7 miles from the beach, and dangerously close to fried shrimp at Iguanas. Don’t get us started on the fudge at St. Simons Sweets—we can’t stop.
