We originally booked this place for back in July/August however we have a death on the family. The host was accommodating in letting us move the dates- however communication was not good. She never actually changed the listing. And she also rarely responded on VRBO- I had to call her to get check in information — She then claimed she had been in the rooms that morning. However upon arrival there were “cobwebs” we walked through- all in the window- the walls/celings have water damage. The “fire pit” is not as pictured,

Communication with this lady was thry text. She has deleted all text and blocked me. I told her to let vrbo know about the change when she picked a date. I had 2 people come and go in the house with me after she left. They saw nothing wrong. I have someone to co.e and scrape the walls and paint where water damage was done. As far as the fire pit goes the only thing missing were the chairs, they were under the carport. I think she did not like the location a d the neighbors next door. I have been in contact with VRBO 3 ti.es on this matter. They say NO REFUND. My reviews have been 10/10 or 10/8. Been with VRBO for about 12 years. No problem till this person. Please have her to quit harassing me. Thanks in advance. Faye

Wry comfortable home-like feeling. Loved the view. The basement rooms and bathroom gave an element of some privacy away from the upstairs room and bathroom.

Very cozy and great location if you want to explore the area. Host was extremely responsive to any question and so easy to book with. Buchanan was a very friendly and welcoming town with a lot of charm. Definitely recommend and would rebook if returning to this part of Virginia.

The cabin was well stocked and it was a very comfortable cabin. We enjoyed our stay very much and the host was very accommodating. The cabin really has the charm of an older one. Thanks again for allowing us to stay and enjoy for a week.

Weekend River Trip

Quaint, historic property that was perfect for our short stay. Well stocked with essential items needed for stay in bathrooms & kitchen. Outdoor seating area and front porch sitting area. Small country store right across the street and very close to downtown restaurants & shopping. Would book again.

The cabin is very cozy and clean with lots of nice decor and comfortable furniture, pillows, blankets, beds, etc. The main concern we had initially was when we noticed that the property is not waterfront as the ad indicated.

The house and town are historic and cute. Swinging bridge within walking distance and leads into the town. 15 min drive from Natural Bridge. 30 min drive from Roanoke.

Labor day weekend

Very cute cabin in small town. Really enjoyed the short distance to the james river where we were able to fish and float. Lots of restaurants and stores near by to get extra supplies we needed.

Neat House In Buchanan

We had a great stay at the Squirrel's Nest (thankfully, no sign of them in the house.) Three bedrooms and two baths were perfect for we three fisherman. Enjoyed the river and the historic town. Highly recommended!

Great property

This is a great cabin in a great location. A very short drive to a beautiful downtown with plenty of food, music, and outdoor venues. This property overlooks the train tracks and the James River, as well as the weekend we stayed there was a civil war re-enactment right across the river that we were able to watch, overall a great property and a great weekend

Charming

Squirrel's Nest is an absolutely charming cottage in a quaint town. Great location & perfect for our needs. We only stayed a weekend, to attend the Sounds of the Mountains storytelling festival at nearby Camp Bethel. We hope to go back when we can stay longer, to see more of the town & surrounding area.

The location is good for site seeing and a cute town. The cabin is not a river view at all there is no access to even view the river from the cabin. The owner is very passionate about the house. Over all it was a good experience the house is bigger than ur expected however the pictures on the site for the house is very misleading.

Squirrel’s Nest

A charming cottage with everything we needed to be comfortable. The town was welcoming and the area is quite beautiful. The host, Faye, is lovely and very attentive (our TV remote needed batteries and she quickly took care of it😁). We will definitely want to book again.
