Family Trip

We had a great time at Stoneham Chalet. The communication with the host was super easy and quick and the place looks exactly like it does in the pictures. The house was very clean and spacious. The outside view of the mountains was incredible. Would definitely recommend it.

Beautiful & comfortable chalet perfect for large group

Me and 20 other friends stayed here for a mountain biking-focused weekend. The property was perfect - great location near the mountains, beautiful interior with great amenities. I appreciated having laundry and stocked cleaning supplies to keep the place tidy throughout our stay with a large group. Two dishwashers was also key. Parking was a bit tight - but that's my only complaint. Would stay here again 100%. Thanks!!!

Wonderful stay with an amazing view

The property is beautifully situated near a top of a hill with a large outdoor patio. Our group of 17 people could not have asked for better accommodations. The house came well stocked with pots and pans and cooking utensils. I would get more garbage bags and get ziploc bags and paper towels (not provided - explained by owner) especially for a large group. The shampoo and conditioner provided is small and there is no body wash, which is also explained by the owner, so I would definitely bring your own. There were plenty of towels and the beds were all clean and in great condition. There is a washer / dryer if you need to do laundry which comes in handy with such a big group. Overall a great stay and a wonderful weekend! Would definitely stay again.

Irresponsible and irresponsive host and ruin your vacation

If you want to experience dealing with the most irresponsible and irresponsive host and ruin your vacation miserably, then look no further than Stoneham Chalet. We were 17 people and had seniors and young kids, driving from Newyork city to Quebec City. This VRBO rental was a disaster. The owner was a liar who did not keep his word (which we had in writing) about the check-in time of 12:00pm. He left us hanging outside for 4 hours and 18 minutes without sending us the access code. He did not answer our phone calls and emails and ignored our pleas for help. We also contacted VRBO but they were useless and could not get in touch with him either. He was a jerk and a clown who had the nerve to laugh at us when he finally picked up the phone. He did not apologize or offer any compensation for our trouble. He ruined our vacation and made us miserable. Stay away from this rental. It was a nightmare. We are Vrbo experienced renters renting more than 35 properties over the years and we are not the ones who complain about tiny lil things the only reason we are sharing this is to save others from a traumatic experience.

Amazing place for large crowds

I celebrated my birthday here with 24 friends, and what an amazing place. Everything is as shown in the pictures (and better). The fully-equipped kitchen made it easy to prepare food and drinks for such a large group. Hottub is alao amazing. The owners were always a text message away, we needed to communicate a couple of times and they replied right away even late evening. The bbq is alao big and nice. The place was sparkling clean. It’s a bit far from Montreal, but was worth every minute of the ride, highly recommended and would go back agaun!

Tous les invités ont trouvé leur compte. L'espace de jeux, le salon, la salle à manger, etc. Cela ne nous donnait pas l'impression d'être 25. Les lits sont également confortables et nous avons apprécié la quantité de salle de bain. 2 petits points à améliorer, l'air climatisé la manette ne fonctionnait pas bien et le cellier semblait brisé.

Big. Clean, but not utilized well and not what was listed!

I've used many times over the past few years, along with and somehow I'm tied to Canada Stays, which I've never heard of, but once I booked they took over the process? First off, the home owner has never heard of HOME AWAY, so Canada Stays is posting there and the home owner is not aware of this, regardless of their new partnership. The HomeAway posting shows deck furniture and a bbq, both of which were not available, so the many steaks, burgers and chops we brought, had to be fried or baked!!! Other rentals in the area had Muskoka Chairs and a BBQ to enjoy the sun, but we were told that they only provide these items in the spring/summer. THEN DON'T POST IT and where's the oversight from CanadaStays or HomeAway? The house is massive, but there are no Master Bedrooms, so both couples used the rooms with two double beds and slept separately. The ensuite is not an issue, but having two king beds is a better approach, although we knew this as we booked. The games room is on the top floor and not the very bottom, where it should be, so the noise is absolutely incredible and takes over the living room area for those watching a movie or simply talking. Lastly...when we booked, there was no charge for a 'security deposit', so as we arrived, we were initially asked for a deposit to be emailed to the owners wife for $1,500, which they wouldn't cash unless there was damage. We didn't do this! We agreed to $500 and then cancelled the transaction after showing them we emailed it, as it was ridiculous. The owner is nice enough, but not attuned to how this process is supposed to operate and I question CanadaStays for not helping him check the basic boxes. On a positive note, the house was big and clean and the kids enjoyed themselves as kids always do and the location is beautiful and close to many outdoor activities. As for renting here again...we won't be back!
