The property was beautiful and well-maintained. It easily accommodated 12 guests. Check-in was easy and straightforward. The checkout process was reasonable. The only drawback was not an issue of the property, rather it was an issue of the location. The property is in a gated neighborhood. It was at times inconvenient to enter the neighborhood due to long lines at the gatehouse. I would highly recommend this property for large-group vacations.

Great Kiawah vacation

This was a great vacation rental for our group. Ample bedrooms, well appointed kitchen, and a wonderful outdoor space (they even added a large table and chairs with umbrella by the pool.). It was clean, and we felt at home. Would rent again.

Charming Luxury Home

This home was a gem in Kiawah Island, secluded and spacious with a private pool. Clean and well maintained, it was a pleasure to get away and be able to explore what Charleston and SC has to offer!

Great House to Stay with Friends

This property has plenty of room and bathrooms to accommodate a tennis team of women. The pool and deck was a great place to gather and relax.

Great family house

Very comfortable home. Easy bike ride to Ocean Course Beach. Pool was great for little ones, especially after a hot day at the beach. We totally enjoyed our stay.

Golf Party Fun

The check in process was so simple. The house had every amenity we needed to enjoy our stay. The pool was nice. Beds were comfy. Enjoyed the golfing and a night out in Charleston. Overall a wonderful experience!

Great island getaway

While the house needs some cosmetic attention, the island surroundings made it unimportant. Somehow, even with beautiful trees all around the pool gets a full day of sun. We liked it well enough to consider going back.

Big House, Bare Bones

About a 20 minute walk to the beach. Spacious house with beautiful pool and patio. Bare bones, so be sure to bring extra detergent, soap, coffee, cream, beach towels, etc.

Beautiful Home

Our family had a wonderful time again at Kiawah we loved the pool and per usual the beach is the best! We did run out of propane for the gas grill The extra tank was empty. And the living room sofa was hard on the behind!

Great vacation!

Great home with lots of room to spread out. The pool was a must with the hot temperatures. It’s on the small side, but we still enjoyed spending time out there daily. Beach access was a little over a mile away so it was an easy ride on bikes. The kitchen was well stocked and house very clean. The only things we’d change are having some more dish towels and wash cloths for the kitchen and updated tv’s so we could stream. Overall it was a great home for our family vacation!

Perfect Pool area

We loved the pool as it was shallow and then had a deep section. Our toddler could enjoy the shallow area and play. The surrounding deck was perfect for sunning and grilling out. It was very private. 12 minute bike ride to Boardwalk 40 to enjoy the beach. Quick car ride to Osprey point clubhouse and also the Ryder Cup Bar for food and drinks. More outdoor lighting would be nice for entering the home after dark.

Perfect Stay

Had such a great time at the Vanderhorst Plantation. We were 3 families with a total of 5 kids all 2 and under. With doors closed and sound machines on, you can’t hear anything outside each room. It allowed all the parents to have a great time as well. The kids loved the pool which conveniently had a very shallow end as well allowing the 2 year olds to play in knee high water then jump in deeper when they had their Floatie’s on. The beach was only a mile away with easy parking and short walk from the parking lot. Overall excellent stay. Look forward to coming back next year.

The house wasn't that clean, and there was a bad bug issue. The vrbo staff was very helpful with addressing issues. The pool was great to have, and the home havd ALOT of space. The good forsure out weighed the hiccups of the home.

Wonderful family getaway

We always love when the advertisement is exactly what the property offers. The house was wonderful and the options on the island made our stay memorable. The one suggestion we offer is to upgrade the downstairs master to a king bed. We agree with other posts that although there are 5 bedrooms, since 4 are upstairs showing a common living space, the property may not easily accommodate multiple families who want there own space. Since it was just our family the kids LOVED having their own kid’s space upstairs with a stocked mini fridge and hang out space. There are some minor upkeeps needed on the grounds but that comes with any property. We would definitely recommend this house to anyone looking for a quiet, get away space.

Great family spot

Overall, we were so appreciative of the hospitality by both the owner and the property manager. Kiawah is beautiful. It has a great bike ride route to the beach. We ate on the screened in porch every night. A few things to note - it's a small house for 5 bedrooms so you definitely don't want to have too many people (living areas are small). It had some odd maintenance issues that we couldn't fix while we were there because of COVID-19 (the handles on the doors fell off and some other strange things). That said, the property manager was incredibly helpful and responsive - if it wasn't during corona, I'm sure they would have come to fix right away.

Beautiful Home, a combo of Kiawah and Tuscany

Stunning place, perfect for a family, and possibly 2 families. But it did feel a bit stripped down rather than luxurious, as if someone had thought college kids might rent it (or 2 families). Or maybe they were going for a bit of rustic Italy. We made several inquiries ahead of time about getting the pool heated and would have gladly paid extra, but VRBO wrongly told us the pool didn't have a heater. It might be a little far from the beach for some, but we found it to be an easy 12 min bike ride to a number of nice beach access points. The house is quiet and beautiful despite being on the main road, especially the pool deck. Just like Tuscany, if you go for a week, you'll want to stay a month.

Seventh bedrooms did not have dressers in them. There were no hangers in closets to hang clothes on. The house really needed a very deep cleaning. There were spiderwebs all over some of the things were broken the door handles. The bedskirts had stains on them, which were disgusting. For as expensive as the place was, it was very disappointing. Also, we didn’t realize until we got there that we were not able to heat the pool. We would’ve happily paid to heat the pool, but that wasn’t even an option.
