Årshus byggdes 1900 med namnet Captain's Quarters till minne av min avdrivna make, Riverboat Captain Mark W. Peters, som piloterade paddelhjularen Hiawatha, pĂ„ Mississippifloden och gav guidade turer vid sjön Pepin. SĂ„ hĂ€r kom de tre sovrummen att namnges. Mississippi-rummet bestĂ„r av en drottningssĂ€ng i vintage stil, elektrisk spis och en privat balkong. Lake Pepin Room har en queen size-sĂ€ng i vintage stil och elektrisk spis. Hiawatha-rummet har en vintage-sĂ€ng i full storlek och elektrisk spis. Alla tre sovrummen har takflĂ€ktar. Förutom elektriska eldstĂ€der och takflĂ€ktar har hemmet tvingat luftvĂ€rme och central luft. Robes, handdukar, en duschmatta och en extra filt har bekvĂ€mt placerats i varje sovrumsskĂ„p. Badrummet har en duschkabin och ett fristĂ„ende badkar. PĂ„ bottenvĂ„ningen finns en tvĂ€ttmaskin och torktumlare. Köket Ă€r fullt utrustat med en Ă€tande dinette och frukostbĂ€nk. Det inkluderar ocksĂ„ ett kylskĂ„p i full storlek med ismaskin, sortiment, diskmaskin, mikrovĂ„gsugn, kaffebryggare, brödrost, mixer, lĂ„ngsam spis och alla redskap och köksredskap som behövs för att förbereda om du föredrar att Ă€ta i. Matsalen har ett runt ekbord, gasspis och franska dörrar som öppnar sig för ett omslagsdĂ€ck som har en kolgrill, bord och stolar. Vardagsrummet har en platt-TV med kabel och Blu Ray Player. Wonderful Birthday Weekend!

We had a wonderful stay at this property! We were celebrating my birthday. The owners left a surprise cupcake which was so thoughtful! We really enjoyed the house as it had everything and more we needed! The owners were amazing as well as the location.

CUTEST home ever!

The house is adorable, decorated very well. There are so many thoughtful things throughout the house to make you comfortable. I want to come back to Lake City just so I can stay here again!

Girls' trip

The house was charming with many antiques. Beds were comfy. Denise had coffee set for us for the next morning and even chocolates in each bedroom. We went sailing on Lake Pepin which was thrilling.

Blast from the past

The house is charming, comfortable and has a great kitchen. It is full of objects from the past. Particularly the 50's and 60'd. Remember LPs and DVDs. Played records again. Denise and Lyle are friendly and helpful. I would stay there again.

I would definitely recommend this home. It was awesome and amazing. Ms Denies had everything you could think of. Trust me every t was crossed and every I had it's dot. What you see on the website is what you get. I just wish it would of had a bathroom on the first floor.

Charming and Very Clean Home

Denise & Lyle have done a great job of renovating this older home. We were welcomed and assured that if we needed anything during our two night stay, to let them know. It felt very much like a quaint bed & breakfast. They supplied snacks, bananas, coffee, tea, breakfast bars and homemade cookies! There were many thoughtful surprises throughout the home. We missed having a bathroom on the first floor, but truly enjoyed our stay. We'd come back again.

Captain’s Quarters

Captain’s Quarters was wonderful for a “girls getaway “ for my two friends and me!! The entire house is well decorated and comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped, the living room was comfortable and well appointed. Beds are very comfortable, and the bathroom is spacious and includes a lovely soaking tub as well as a shower. The owner has taken great care in providing the “extra” amenities, like spa robes for luxuriating, an electric fireplace in nearly every room for ambiance and to take the chill off, if needed. My friends and I agreed that we would certainly book the Captain’s Quarters again should we be in the Lake City area.

Sister's Getaway

My five sisters and I spent three nights at Captain's Quarters and absolutely loved the house and city. Denise and Lyle are great people and made our stay very comfortable. It was one of my sister's birthday that weekend and upon opening the refrigerator we found a birthday cake for us to enjoy!! That was a very thoughtful gesture. There was also a pot of coffee ready for us on Saturday morning. They thought of everything. We would definitely stay here again if we travel to the Lake City area.

Fabulous Home

My sister and I were SO impressed with this beautiful home. The owners took care of every detail which went above and beyond our expectations. The house is well maintained, clean, and has everything and more that you might need or want. Special touches are everywhere from vintage record albums and record player to plush bathrobes and so much more. It is a very comfortable home and Lake City is a quiet, pretty town. We enjoyed some shops and restaurants, a paddle wheel boat cruise, a bike ride (bikes provided by homeowner) and simply relaxing at the house. We both would love staying there again. So glad we found this place.

Close to area parks with exceptional birding

My friend and I enjoyed being pampered with very gracious hosts who met us at their rental home to give us a tour of their exceptionally clean home and to explain how things work such as the tv, door lock. We were given a basket of treats, mints and a rose by our bedsides,the coffee machine was set to go off in the morning at the time we needed, and a lovely note that made us feel very welcome was left. The neighborhood was quiet and felt safe. The hosts checked on us the following day to make sure we had everything we needed. We were even advised on what to do in case of a storm. Safety kit , flashlights, and weather radio was provided. We would definitely stay here again.

Exquisite, classic, cozy, vintage!!

An absolute gem! A beautiful stay beyond words. Sits within a quiet neighborhood, this beautiful home is well taken care of and perfectly personalized. There are antiques throughout as well as modern touches, such as google and smart tv, blu-ray, and a record player. The hosts have gone above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and welcoming. The pictures here can hardly describe the real life beauty of this lovely home. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. There are tons of things to do in the area between Lake City and Red Wing to keep busy. Although, the home and property have plenty of ways to relax and unwind. A 5+ rating!

Perfect spot for a Lake City visit

Thank you Denise and Lyle for a wonderful stay at your beautiful home. The house worked out so perfectly for a sisters getaway. We each had our own bedroom, and there was so much space to sit around and visit—whether it was the kitchen table, dining room table or with a glass of wine in the evening out on your patio. We loved the fact you had three classic Schwinn bikes for us to cruise through town on. (And that Lyle made a special trip back to the house just to help us adjust the seats!) Our favorite bike trip, though, was along the riverfront trail. The riverfront trail was also the perfect spot for a morning jog. And the location of your home made it perfect for a short side trip to Red Wing, where we spent some time shopping and hiking at Frontenac State Park and Memorial Park. All in all, your home with all its lovely decorations was the perfect spot for a relaxing trip. You’ve thought of everything that might be needed by your guests, from little treats to entertainment options to lots of travel information. We especially appreciated the recommendation for dinner at Kelly’s Lake House Grill on the River. Their outdoor patio and food were the best. Thanks again for your kind hospitality.

This is a house built in 1900 that has been lovingly restored and decorated. Yet, you still have all the conveniences you need. The owners are easy to contact and helpful. We had a very restful weekend.

With the exception of a few years after high school graduation, I am a lifelong Lake City resident. I attended schools in the area and after completion of post secondary education, I worked in the health care system in Lake City for several years, before retiring in 2010. I continue to live here in Lake City with my current husband Lyle, also a long time Lake City resident, enjoying retirement together.

Varför vÀrden valde detta boende

This home was purchased by myself and my late husband Mark in 1987. This was our hometown and we loved the area. Mark served in the U.S. Coast Guard and loved being on the water so it was only natural we remained close to the river and the lake. We made a decision to remain here to raise our two children.

Vad som gör detta boende unikt

The house attracted us because it was affordable. Mark and I were young, in our 20's and we were looking forward to owning our first home. The main attraction for us was the location, the age of the house, its wood floors and the open layout of the living room and dining room. As time went on during the recession of the 80's we appreciated the fact that we had a home, these were some hard times. We settled in and added our own touches. The house is very old but exudes a feeling of warmth. After Mark died in 1995 our children and I remained here. I chose to keep our home after they were grown. Welcoming guests and sharing a home filled with memories has been enjoyable. What I love most about my home is who I share it with. When I'm not sharing my home with you it is often used by myself and children for much reminiscing. I have opted to accent it with vintage and antique items some from childhood, others found through my passion for collecting. Current husband Lyle and I meet all our guests at check in. We share information about the area and answer any questions you may have. Because we own and operate, you never have to deal with a property manager, we do it all. We live in Lake City and are just a text or phone call away.
