Better than an expensive resort!!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved our stay at Makani Sands with a toddler. It is conveniently located near restaurants and grocery. Being able to cook our breakfast and doing laundry wasn't something one would expect, but having that flexibility with a toddler is something I was glad about. They provide beach chair, cooler bags, sun hats, beach ball, beach towels etc, so you wouldn't have to worry about bringing those. The benefit of access to the beach privately was something I realized after I left the place. I wish I could go back and soak in more of it. Definitely staying here when we are back in Maui.

Tammy made the arrangements so easy and communicating with her was a charm. Upon our arrival in Maui, we had planned to stay in Kihei for a period before heading to Honolowai and when those plans didn’t turn out as we’d hoped we reached out to Tammy who helped us make arrangements to book into Makani. She made it all so easy. We felt so welcome. The condo was wonderful. The unit was fabulous. A/C would have been nice but we understand that the price would have been different. The fans worked well and all in all we were delighted.

Only issue is the person on the 3rd floor feeds pidgin a couple times a day & the birds **** all over the Lanai & furniture. We asked her to feed the birds elsewhere but no. They live and sleep above 107. We cleaned the poop daily to have it return everyday.

Located right on the beach where we could see whales and turtles and spectacular sunsets most every day. I love the new sea wall, stairs and grills. Short walk for groceries, restaurants and shops. Pros -had several small appliances and amenities(beach chairs, cooler bags, etc) -location was convenient -size of property (small) -not crowded Cons -uncomfortable hide-a-bed -CONSTRUCTION NOT DISCLOSED due to construction -limited parking (had to use adjacent property the entire week) - no ocean access -workers using loud tools

Steps away from the beach and gorgeous sunset views!

Condo was exceptionally clean and the manager Tammy was excellent, advising us on various places to go/things to do in the area. We had a ground floor unit which provided easy access to parking, BBQ grills and the ocean. Sunsets were awesome! Landscape and grounds were well maintained. The noise level was more than we expected, but not the fault of mgmt. Located near lots of shopping and restaurants. Would stay here again if in Maui.

Hearing AND seeing the surf, swimming in the ocean right off your front lawn and enjoying the pool daily is just the beginning of enjoying this property. Tammy & Debbie from the Front Office are just wonderful from booking and throughout your visit and always very helpful. The location is perfect to get to anywhere you would like in the Lahaina area with shops and stores close by for groceries, restaurants and gas. There is even a local beach down the road for young families.Breakfast on your own lanai and evening sunsets can't be beat. We'll be back!

Fabulous time!!

My husband and I stayed at Makani Sands for 10 days in April. We had a great time! This condo is perfect for a couple. It was very clean and the bed quite comfortable. There is no AC but we left the windows open and the breeze came through all the time. The kitchen could use some inventory. We kept running out of cutlery and it would be nice if there were some plastic tumblers & wine glasses for outdoors. The pool is lovely and kept very warm. Probably about 95 degrees!! The expansive view of the ocean was awesome! We saw whales everyday. There is currently no easy access to the ocean. The stairs are in need of repair. This condo is in a great location and close to shops, beaches, hiking trails and Lahaina if you have a car. The only other thing to mention is they are in need of a couple of beach chairs. There was only one provided and it was a bit tired. Other than that I would definitely recommend this beautiful condo.

Maui island get away

The overall experience was good. Who can pick when hot water heaters break or lights burn out. The property worked promptly to get the water heater fixed. However an acknowledgment in compensation for our inconvenience would have been appreciated The property is definitely ocean front with great whale watching. However there is no beach access as advertised and some of the grilling equipment is in need of repairs. Couldn’t have asked for a better location within 10 minutes to enjoy great beaches, snorkeling and boogie boarding

Beautiful location on the West side of Maui with an ocean view

The property was remodeled and in good shape. The property is located about 100 feet from the ocean. The ocean breeze blows right through the unit. Very comfortable at all times with the ceiling fans to move additional air. A table for four people on the lanai was great for our meals. The kitchen was well equipped. There are two community BBQ's, many lounge chairs and several tables on the concrete deck near the ocean. Perfect place to relax and watch the sunsets. We saw whales everyday from the lanai. We finally saw turtles on the last day swimming near the condo. There is no sandy beach, only a rocky shore below the unit. There is a sandy beach with a small park less than 1/2 mile to the South of the condo. I miss Maui already. I would stay there again. Aloha

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have stayed at Makani Sands in unit 107 a number of times and always enjoy it. The property is well located; the unit is modern, functional, and well stocked with kitchen supplies; the area is quiet; the pool is very nice (and the water was quite warm this visit); and the property management ladies are lovely. The beach has been washing away and the sea wall degrading over the past few years but they have done what they can to repair it. It is my understanding that the property managers cannot make further improvements/maintenance until it is approved by the local jurisdiction.
