Vacation in architectural monuments combines heritage conservation and tourism. Historically valuable buildings are taken over, gently renovated and rented out as holiday flats. The model provides a double benefit: the monuments are given a revitalised future and the holiday guests experience a stay in an exceptional building. The idea is being realised by the ‘Vacation in architectural monuments’ foundation, which was set up by the Swiss Heritage Society in 2005.
Public transport: SBB to Landquart. Get off in Landquart on the little red train (RhB) to Scuol-Tarasp and 15 minutes later in Jenaz. Then it's another 5 minutes on foot. Cross the main road, then go straight on past the market square, bakery and old town hall and up the hill in a slight bend to the right. Before the fountain at the ‘Karlihof’ house, turn left into the narrow, steep Platzgasse and walk to the square with the central fountain.
Car: By car, turn off the motorway in Landquart towards Davos. After 10 minutes, just before Jenaz, turn right along the signpost Jenaz/Furna under the railway, then right on the main road to Jenaz. 50 m after the Hirshen restaurant, turn right towards the church, then past the market square, bakery and old town hall, all straight ahead and up the hill in a slight right-hand bend. Before the fountain at the ‘Karlihof’ house, turn left into the narrow, steep Platzgasse and continue to the square with the central fountain. The house is on the left-hand side.
Parking: Two uncovered private outdoor parking spaces at the house, further parking spaces in the public car park at the market square
Number of people 6: The house can accommodate six guests. The floors are made of wood and stone, which is why we recommend good slippers.
