This is possibly one of the most peaceful places I have ever been. The only sounds you will hear are the local birds, of which I saw dozens of species while sitting on the balcony. Raul was there to greet us and we paid 54us to have a giant meal and two desserts wait for us and everything was delicious! They even introduced us to a local guide for a night hike. If I ever get to come back to monteverde I know where I am staying!

This house was amazing! Very comfortable with all the amenities needed for a home away from home. Situated next to the Monteverde Biological Reserve, it was also a great location for visting El Tigre Waterfall, ziplining and night tours! If you stay here, take advantage of the home cooking as the meals were exceptional! Highly recommended!

Our stay at this beautiful cabin in the rainforest was truly unforgettable. It was the perfect place to unplug and reconnect as a family. Being completely surrounded by nature was such a peaceful and unique experience—you really feel immersed in the rainforest in the best way possible.The home itself is incredibly well cared for, and you can immediately tell it’s loved and thoughtfully maintained. This isn’t just a rental property—it feels like a special place that means something, and that made our stay even more meaningful.A special highlight was Lillian’s cooking—absolutely fantastic and such a treat during our stay.Without a doubt, this was the highlight of our entire trip. We only wish we could have stayed longer and look forward to returning someday!

What a true treasure of a property! We loved our stay there (two parents and our 9 year old son).Great birdwatching (especially hummingbirds on the 2nd floor deck) and some good mammals in and around the forest. Raul was fantastic! He shared some local tips as well as suggestions for stops on the next leg of our journey. He was quick to reply to a few questions we had while staying there. You can tell immediately that the property and area is adored by the owners. Countless Costa Rica and Monteverde flora and fauna guides are shelved throughout the house. Yes, you can walk to the Monteverde Cloud Forest preserve (check in at the welcome center before going to the main entrance, as a general reminder).Plenty of boardgames and art supplies for the kids to leave some art behind. I don't think you'll find a more unique setting anyplace in Monteverde. A really great place and we had a great stay.

We had an amazing stay at the Naturalist house! The property is very cozy, and we often used the wood fireplace on those cool Monteverde evenings. There are large picture windows in every room, perfectly framing the beautiful views. We would definitely return and stay again!

Great place near the Reserve

We love staying at the yellow house. It’s quiet, convenient if you are spending time at the MCFR, the views are great, and there are lots of opportunities for seeing wildlife. Raul is great!

This is an amazing and unique property. We loved everything about it...The owner and property manager were very attentive and made sure everything was perfect. We saw a lot of wildlife near the house and enjoyed the peaceful surroundings. Even though this home is quite secluded, we were only a few minutes to shops and coffee. The coatis and the hummingbirds were our favorites! We would love to come back in the future to this extremely special home.

Great communication from Laurie and Fred and wonderful support from the staff at the home. We enjoyed the amazing meals prepared by Lillian and went on both a day and night guided hike with Raul Jr. We loved the location and the natural surroundings. If you are traveling with small children like we were- just a note that it was a bit of a challenging space to “baby-proof”.

Amazing stay in monteverde

Highly recommend this property in Monteverde. It is located at the top of the mountain in the cloud forest. The host was excellent and arranged a tour for us. The views are stunning and the privacy is unmatched. Would stay again in a heart beat

Beautiful spot - great stay

Absolutely beautiful spot. We loved our stay and highly recommend this cabin. Everything is in great condition and very clean. The only thing for guests to be aware of is that check-in requires meeting the property manager at the property a pre-arranged time (rather than self-check-in).

We spent 7 nights in the beautiful cabin. We arrived to many pots of food that Lillian made, and Raul, the devoted caretaker who welcomed us warmly. We used the woodburning stove many mornings after blustery, rainy nights. We faithfully filled the 2 hummingbird feeders each morning. The second story porch was a beautiful spot to sit to watch them feed throughout the day. The house is well appointed with everything you’ll need to be comfortable. Watching the clouds roll over the mountains with the light mists falling was magical. I must admit, we felt like royalty perched up on the hill with the natural tropical forest surrounding us.

We stayed at the house for seven nights with five people and everything was perfect. It is in a great central location where you can access all the local reserves and restaurants downtown. Laurie set us up with Raul Jr for a bird watching tour and a night hike. He was the greatest, very knowledgeable about all the wildlife and history of the area. He was able to locate everything we had on our wish list.I would advise you to bring one heavier set of clothing because it can get cold in the night, which we were told beforehand. It was only cold the first night, but we had what we needed and there is a wood stove. There's a beautiful pair of Masked Tityra that must be nesting in the area. Keep the hummingbird feeders full! We will all remember that view forever.

My family of four had an amazing time exploring the trails, watching the hummingbirds and relaxing at the cloud forest house. We also opted for a prepared meal to be made on the night we arrived - lots of food, tasty, and very convenient.

Beautiful and peaceful location with a view of the ocean. The hummingbirds were loudly waiting for food within minutes of us walking in and they did not disappoint-a never ending show. Raul is a wonderful host and Raul Jr is a fantastic naturalist guide. So much to do and see, we wish we could have stayed longer!

We stayed 5 nights. We were looking for tranquility, beauty, and several new bird sightings. This property has it all. There can be no better choices for those with the same expectations. Definitely put it on your list.

A nice cozy home at a good location

The house is old but kept clean and cozy. It is at a high position on the mountain with a good view of the forest and the ocean. We waked up morning with birds' song and the hummingbirds are not afraid of human at all. The meal prepared by Lilliana is very tasty. Our family enjoyed our stay of 2 nights.

Paradise

The spot was completely magical. Our only negative was that we didn’t stay long enough. Incredibly peaceful and beautiful with outrageous sunset views and very easy walks to Monteverde park. A true dream.

Amazing stay!

The house was bigger and nicer than I expected. The view is incredible! So fun spotting coatimundis and hummingbirds even from inside the house through the big windows all around. Raul was the most helpful and friendly host - he even pulled our car out of a ditch! Lillian's dinner was from heaven - perfect meal for our family after arriving from a long day of travel. Thank you for such a nice time in Monteverde!
