"Min man och jag reste från Florida till Costa Rica för medicinsk turism. Vi stannade här i 10 dagar och det var perfekt. Mycket rent, tyst och lugnt. Jag rekommenderar starkt till alla som reser dit. Nära till allt men ändå tillräckligt långt borta för att koppla av i slutet av dagen. Allt du behöver. Ett riktigt hem hemifrån. Vårdtagarna är underbara människor. Mycket snäll och hjälpsam. Det var ett riktigt nöje att ha träffat dem. Rekommenderas starkt!!!!' (slutet på Kings recension)

Den helt tvåspråkiga chefen Eduardo (examen från Univ of Kansas) hämtar dig på min bekostnad på flygplatsen eller biluthyrningskontoret så att du inte har problem med att hitta platsen. På din väg från flygplatsen tar han dig också livsmedelsbutiker i en trevlig stormarknad nära huset. Eduardos fru Agnes, en pensionerad professor, ger spanska lektioner för 15 dollar i timmen. Vid behov ordnar vi en taxi tillbaka till flygplatsen på din bekostnad. Enligt den nya lagen från 2019 är vi skyldiga att debitera dig den 13% hotellskatten.

Amerikansk ägare erbjuder detta 3 BR 2 bad nyligen ombyggda och utökade hem på östra sidan av Santo Domingo, Heredia, på en halv tunnland med gott om blommaträdgårdar, färska blommor varje dag, många slags fåglar på gården (106 slag hittills identifierade ), idealisk vårliknande temperaturzon året runt, på en höjd 1500 ft över myggzonen. Pensionerade par är de tvåspråkiga platscheferna Eduardo och Agnes (hon talar också franska) som bodde i USA och ligger precis intill. Han är en pensionerad fabrikschef och de tar upp fjärilar i deras trädgård. Vårväder året runt (mitten till hög 70-talet / 23-26 C, aldrig för varmt) 3 BR 2 bad (endast dusch, inget badkar) - Biljardbord, ping pongbord och stort utomhuskök, allt på en våning, verandesida ingången har inga steg. Rika träpaneler på högt i tak med stora centrala takfönster, takfläktar i alla rum (öppningsfönster justerar temperaturen med mild naturlig bris), 9-fotreglering av mahognyfick biljardbord med en tums italiensk skiffer, 45 med 14 fot takfönster i taket framför verandan , utomhuskök med Weber för kolbriketter och stor inbyggd gasgrill med två brännare spis och diskbänk, solterrass ringad med blommor, stort glasade i separat matrumskontor med stort skrivbord, omgiven av väggar av blommande blommor, gästparkering , öppen planlösning, Claro kabel-TV med BBC-nyheter på engelska, vissa US-engelska ESPN Sportscenter, stora sportevenemang, film- och sitcomkanaler, barnkanaler, musikkanaler etc. Två samtidigt Wifi-internet-system exklusivt för detta hus (delas inte med något annat hus) för att köra ALLA enheter samtidigt och köra tydliga Skype-videosamtal, Youtube, Netflix, 46-tums smart-tv ansluten till wifi, solterrass med gungstolar, gravitationstolar , stort paraply och runt bord, utsikt över kaffefält och omgiven av gräsmatta och blommaträdgårdar, 20 minuter till det nya (2013) Lincoln köpcentret med förstklassiga filmer och topprestauranger, 25 minuter till det nya (2018) Oxigeno köpcentret, 30 minuter till Nationalteatern och museerna, 10 minuter till Kahli-Brumas del Zurqui kafé med kaffet bedömt bäst i världen 2012, 14 minuter till den prisbelönta Bougainvillea Hotel trädgårdar och restaurang, 12 minuter till exotiska Toucan Rescue Ranch djurpark. 15 minuter till Bromelias del Rio restaurang och bageri, 18 minuter till SIBU organisk chokladfabrik, restaurang och turné, 30 minuter till Britt-kaffeturen och förpackningsanläggningen, 50-60 minuter till Jungle Tram (Rainforest Adventures) eller ZooAve fågelreservat, 1. 5 timmar till Lankester Gardens eller till Sarchi träbearbetningsstad, 2. 5 timmar till antingen Atlanten eller Stilla havet stränder. Nya teakskåp, nya sängar av teak med guatemalska sängöverdrag, amerikanska apparater inklusive ny diskmaskin (sällsynt i Costa Rica), ny tvättmaskin, elektrisk torktumlare, kök som äter bar för 6, funktionell sten spis (aldrig använt - aldrig kallt nog), nya gardiner , fullt möblerade och utrustade, fullskärmad men långt ovanför mygghöjdszonen, täckt parkering för 2 bilar, elektrisk grind med fjärrkontroll, deltids handyman-trädgårdsmästare, 6 sovplatser, bara ta med dina trådlösa enheter och kläder, Rökning förbjuden Ingen husdjur.

Very Peaceful, Comfortable, Well-Furnished Home

I second everything said in previous reviews about this home, it's peaceful location, and it's wonderful host. Steve has furnished the house with everything anyone could need. One time I thought I finally found something that was missing (a potato masher), but upon further searching found three! Steve lives in another unit on sight but is never obtrusive. We thoroughly enjoyed talking with him when he did visit us and appreciated not one but two tours of the area as well as lunch at the Bougainville Hotel. My favorite part of the home is the lovely veranda furnished with Costa Rican leather rockers. I spent early mornings drinking coffee and listening and watching the birds. It was so peaceful. My husband and I also enjoyed playing ping pong on the veranda and playing pool. The internet which is now on fiber optic works perfect for anyone needing to work from home. If you just want a quiet place to stay with the best climate in the country, this is the spot. We will definitely be returning. Thanks, Steve, for your friendship and all your help in making our stay memorable.

Peaceful hidden gem, highly recommended!

Beautiful property, plenty of natural light most of the home, lots of outdoor space and natural vegetation, far enough away from the city to feel like a little sanctuary, but close enough to plenty of restaurants, super markets, farmer's market, and anything else you might need. Great selection of movies (DVDs) for everybody, pool table, ping pong table, a nice porch to watch the sunset and see rainbows from. Steve (the owner) made us feel right at home, he was always making sure we had everything we needed (and more), he gave us tips on fun local things to do, and he just made our stay truly amazing. We highly recommend staying at this property, we'd definitely come back, it was perfect for our family of 4 (kids 9 & 2), we had no issues doing remote work and remote school during our long stay (the office space is beautiful, surrounded by windows to enjoy the sunsets, the rain, the butterflies, the birds -lots of them-, makes you forget you're working or doing homework)... We'll miss this place a lot, it was a great find, a hidden gem. Thank you so much Steve! Pura Vida!, we'll be seeing you again soon for sure!!!

It was a lovely, spacious, homey home and kid-friendly ! We loved being so close to the Britt coffee tour and the Bougenvilla hotel. The host was very gracious and helpful. It was a a great first stop to our Costa Rica experience.

Comfortable and spacious...A truly interesting and unique place. We really enjoyed it.

We stayed at this home for 10 nights and enjoyed every minute of it. The climate was perfect (a lot of rain, but hey, its the rainy season). The three plus bedroom two bath home has large rooms and plenty of them. Excellent High speed/Wi-Fi (we encountered zero buffering when streaming Netflix and/or websites). My first impression was not as positive, because the house could use some cosmetic updating (floor tile in main area is old,and looks it....the master bath looks out of date also, but works fine,). Despite looking a little worn on first impression, we rapidly became very comfortable here.....Everything worked great, the pool table provided an interesting way to spend a few minutes each day (not totally level....but then they rarely are...I would recommend that Steven get a pro in to make it roll true, but as is, it was quite servicable). We spent most of the daylight hours out front on the wonderful covered veranda....there is a nice view across the valley to the east, and the grounds have beautiful flowering plants, birds and hummingbirds. Eduardo and Agnes, who look after the place, were both friendly and helpful and always available to provide advice, directions, etc. I took a few Spanish lessons from Agnes, who is a well educated and fascinating person and a fully qualified language teacher (in several languages)...I really enjoyed our talks/lessons...they were both interesting and helpful. Overall a wonderful experience and a good value. We felt, and were, totally safe, secure and comfortable during our stay. We had a wonderful ten days with no problems or complaints. Hated to leave.

We're a 3-Generation Family who were LUCKY enough to again find,for the second year in a row,Steve's-Super-StayPlace for two months... ( Christmas Season 2017). His home is very,very ROOMY... & COZY at the same time.It has SO many extra useful,intriguing and interesting features that it's hard to list them all ,but here's a few: OUTDOORS: HugeDeck& Kitchen-BBQ Area,Gardens&Flowers,Birds,Sunsets,Deck Chairs & PingPongTable. INDOORS: Large PoolTable,3BigBdrms;very Bright&Airy Dining Area:VERY large&handy BAR area;great Wifi& TVconnection;VERY well-stocked kitchen;VG supply of Linens for a lg.group...the list could go on&on... ....Biggest asset is Steve,himself...and his support group who take care of the unexpected and give a terrific personal touch. We'll always appreciate Steve's concerned nature and his knowledge of all-things-CostaRica !!! Plus,he's a relaxed sort of guy and became a friend in the process. Great house and great owner

We stayed in Steve's house for three months and it served us really well as a large-ish family. Steve must be the most helpful host that I have ever come across in these circumstances, with torrents of information available both before and during the stay. The house is great and the pool and table tennis tables a real boon. Heavy rain on a tin roof is an interesting experience, but that is Costa Rica for you. For us, with a longer stay and the demands of work and children's homework, the broadband was sketchy but perhaps we were just unlucky. Eduardo, the neighbour and "onsite" manager, was really helpful as well. An ideal and peaceful place if you are spending a little time in Heredia.

A Second Home

Staying at this property felt like home to us. It is safely located at the end of road in a gated lot. The weather is beautiful and air conditioning is not needed in the house at all. There are fans throughout the house but your best bet is to open the screened in windows and let the beautiful, cool breeze blow through the house. The property is exactly as described and the wifi works very very well. I was pregnant and planning on delivering our daughter at CIMA which as the crow flies is close but it is a quite a drive (even for my Costa Rican husband) through San Jose. Steve, the owner, took the time to show us his favorite routes to get through the city from his house. He was very considerate throughout our entire trip and he makes sure that you have everything you need. If Steve can figure out a way to help, he will! He's just a great guy. I strongly recommend this property!

Absolutely wonderful place to stay....

We stayed in this lovely house for four weeks and totally loved every minutes ..... The house itself is warm and inviting..... The grounds are beautiful and the weather perfect..... The owner sends you a PDF file with an extensive list of things to see and do as well as information on food , banking and Costa Rican life. Steve ( and Edwardo) were very helpful and went above and beyond to accommodate and make our Costa Rican vacation a marvellous experience. We would definitely recomend this place to everybody and hope to go again ourselves .

Wonderful Retreat for Three week Stay

A perfect option for relaxed living in beautiful setting. The house, furnishings, appliances are all excellent. The kitchen has everything you need. I found myself particularly drawn to sitting on the large and beautiful front porch to read and to be entertained by a variety of birds. Owner Steve is great to work with and his written suggestions of nearby "things to do" and places to see was a real plus. The manager, who is the next door neighbor, is unusually nice and helpful. I could not be more satisfied and I highly recommend this property.

Fantastic 2 month stay in warm Costa Rica

Great place to stay. I can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our 2 month stay here. It is a clean and quiet place to stay just far enough outside the city with no traffic yet only 10 minutes to the large mall and San Jose access. It has wireless internet access, cable TV (46” flat screen), beautiful front porch with outdoor kitchen, full sized appliances including washer and dryer with three bedroom and two baths. Enough room for the whole family. Owner Steve is very helpful and always accessible to answer any questions. The yard is beautiful with many flowers and hummingbirds visiting every morning. The groundskeeper on site was very helpful with any needs we had. I highly recommend staying here if you are visiting CR. It’s a great value and we will be back on our next visit. Also, ask the owner about his car rentals. Very reasonable compared to renting from the rental cars companies. Thanks Steve AAA+++

My husband and I traveled from Florida to Costa Rica for the Medical Tourism. We stayed here for 10 days and it was perfect. Very clean, quiet and peaceful. I highly recommend to anyone traveling there. Close enough to everything yet far enough away to relax at the end of the day. Everything you need. A true Home away from Home. I am retired from overseas consulting work in agriculture and road projects. I grew up in California (BA from UC Berkeley ). I have managed my own rentals for 30+ years. I have lived in Costa Rica for 26 of the past 38 years, having come here in 1984 to manage an agricultural project for the US Embassy. I spend part of the year in California with the grandchildren. I have gone through all the residency requirements for Costa Rica and can offer general and residency advice about visiting and living in Costa Rica (I will e-mail you my personal 40 page Central Valley tourist guide upon booking). Since retiring I remodeled this passive solar mahogany and teak lined house surrounded by mountains, rainbows, forest, and vast skies, with inside temperatures in the high 70's-F/23-26-C year round. No need for air conditioning or heat, inside temperatures are adjusted by opening and closing screened windows for cooling by mild natural breezes.

I lived at the beach in Costa Rica (Manuel Antonio) and after a couple of years found the hot weather was uncomfortable and getting gradually worse. Then I moved to 900 meters altitude in San Antonio de Belen (Cariari) and found temperatures there were also uncomfortable. This location at about 1150 meters altitude (3700 ft) has great year round spring weather and is close to San Jose area attractions, and is much less crowded, hot, polluted, expensive and congested than the other side of the valley such as Santana and Rohrmoser-Escazu. I left California's urban congestion to find an idyllic place like this. Located at the end of a quiet country lane between two rivers, the surrounding properties on three sides are undeveloped farms or private gardens. We are visited by flocks of noisy green parrots during parts of the year, along with occasional Montezuma's Oropendulas, mot mots and orioles. This is the resident nesting territory of Great Kiskadee, yellow social flycatchers, brown and white jays, Yiguirros (Clay Colored Robins, the Costa Rican national bird) , Chacalacas, blue gray tanagers, and hummingbirds. Buzzards and hawks patrolling our two nearby rivers treat us to flying ballets all day long. At any one time we have several nests close to the house, and 106 kinds of birds have been identified on this property in one 30 day period.

We will pick you up at our expense at the airport or car rental office so you will not have a problem finding the place. On your way from the airport we will also take you grocery shopping at a nice supermarket near the house. Neighbor Agnes, a retired professor, gives Spanish lessons for $15 an hour for one person. If needed, we will arrange a taxi (for you to pay) for you to return to the airport. This house has a huge outdoor kitchen, a mahogany pool table and ping pong table and a glassed-in dining room-office surrounded by lawn and a riot of colorful flowers year round. The roomy master bedroom has its own bathroom but the other two bedrooms are comparatively small and share a bath. Closets are very ample. There are two queen beds in teak frames and one double bed in teak frame, and one single bed. All have high count US cotton sheets and colorful handmade Guatemalan bedspreads. There is no tub, only 2 showers, but there is a bidet in the master bath. The sun porch just off the outdoor kitchen is protected by a hedge of pink bougainvilleas (where birds nest) and has a large umbrella and round table that seats 6. Full set of US appliances, including a new clothes washer, new refrigerator and older electric dryer, and a new dishwasher (a rare appliance in Costa Rica), every kitchen gadget, new 55 inch LED smart TV hooked to cable, wifi, and DVD. The office has a 47 inch computer monitor and printer. Covered parking for two cars and outdoor parking for guest vehicles. One outdoor parking space is on the house level with no steps up. We have 2 fiber optic internet services exclusive to this house, one at 300 mbps and the other at 100 mbps.
