Great Location, but Cabin Needs TLCSun Valley Lake is a beautiful, shallow lake — perfect for paddle boarding, and the property sits at a prime spot on the tip of the lake. Unfortunately, the cabin itself needs attention. The worst issue was the nesting swallows. Because the nests weren’t removed before nesting season, there are now at least five large ones on the house, three directly over the back door, grill, and deck chairs. On arrival, we found a pile of bird feces and a dead baby bird. The next day — my wife’s birthday — another dead baby bird fell just feet from where she was reading. I had to clean it up with a shovel from my car.The property manager responded that swallows are a protected species and couldn’t be disturbed, but this was still a very unpleasant and unsanitary situation. A single hanging CD seemed to be the only deterrent.Other issues: The back screen door was broken completely off and under the deckThe linen closet and spare blankets were covered in spiderwebs along with many other interior areasThe stairs are dangerously steep, variable heights and widths (and we aren't too old or out of shape)Lovely lake, but the cabin experience was rough. Come prepared.
