The hosts were very pleasant and welcoming. Very responsive. The duplex was clean and had everything we needed. The grounds were beautiful and we loved seeing the wildlife.

Overall a fine place to stay, although a bit more cluttered inside than the last visit. The main issue we had was the same as last time - they did not pick up after their dog, which markedly lowered the enjoyment of the yard.

Girls trip

Property had little to no parking. Tenants lived upstairs and were a little nosy. Watering their plants while we were on downstairs patio. Directions were not well explained. No control over AC or heat. Cluttered living area furniture and outdoor was wet not enough resources to start fire.

Beautiful view

We were in town for a family gathering and while we didn’t spend much time there, it was a beautiful setting to come home to at night. Appreciated that we could have our dog along with us. The hostess was very prompt with responses. While we didn’t cook while we were there, the kitchen seemed well appointed.

Lots of space

We enjoyed our stay. Access for our Mother was a bit difficult. The extra fees seemed excessive and added the equivalent of an extra day cost to our 2 night stay.

Private, quiet, serene

Property is large with gorgeous views. Barbara and David are very pleasant, were reapectful of our time, and it felt private even though they were just upstairs. Sammy, their vizsla, is also super sweet. The place was homey and comfortable. We VERY much appreciated bringing our canine family members and they loved all the room to run. Location a short drive to downtown. Definitely would stay again if they would have us.

Quiet respite in beautiful country setting

Stayed 3 nights, closer to end of color season. Beautiful views, beautiful bluffs overlooking Upoer Iowa River. Barbara and David were wonderful hosts. Only negative was not letting us know that HVAC system broke in the week or two before our stay.Fortunately, nights were cool, and days not so warm that fan and outside breezes could not keep us comfortable. I highly recommend this place for a quiet getaway from city life, with plenty of walking or hiking or other activities as desired.

Love everything about this place, even after our second time there. Great location and close to fishing, hiking, biking, breweries, wonderful food and more. Our dog loved it too. Can’t wait for our third stay.

We built our home in 2004. David was very involved in the building and both of us were very involved in the designing of our two level home. Both levels are complete with lots of natural light and plenty of windows overlooking the Upper Iowa River Valley. Each level is a complete living quarters. Our needs have changed as we have entered retirement so we are now sharing our home with visitors like you, who come to enjoy the Decorah area. We have 3 adult children and 6 grandchildren and a beloved dog. We live a wonderful life and are happy to share our home with you.

As a young couple we came to the Decorah area to canoe the Upper Iowa River and enjoy the natural beauty and rich culture. We eventually decided to make Decorah home for our growing family and after being the stewards of a beautiful country homestead near Decorah, we ultimately were led to this location which we dearly love.
