I had the pleasure of visiting the cabin in winter last year and just fell in love. Nestled in the woods, it is a perfectly peaceful hide away, surrounded by a blanket of pure white snow when I visited. Once inside you are just as cosy as can be though, in a beautiful traditional Montana lodge, given a stylish and beautifully whimsical make over by the owner (think lots of winter whites mixed with locally sourced woods). There is a lovely wood burner in the main room to cuddle next too after a day exploring, and a open plan kitchen that makes cooking up a meal a great family affair.
We were never short of activities while we were there, despite the cold temperatures. Every day was a different delight, from snowshoeing in the pretty grounds of the cabin, to taking in local sights with dog sledding and skiing on Black mountain and Big Mountain (Whitefish). Just driving around enjoying the scenery was a delight in itself! I didn't get the chance on my visit, but I hear Ski-dooing and ice skating on the lake are also 'must dos'. Bigfork is just a short drive away, which has great restaurants and some cute stores, and for a larger town and super cute shopping, Whitefish is also just a short distance.
I've also been lucky enough to visit preciously during the summer, and it is just as wonderful then but in a totally different way. The cabin grounds are lush green with a fab fire pit for the evenings, and a babbling brook flows just by the house. Swan or Flathead lakes are just close by for all types of water sports, and the hiking is just unrivalled!
The owner, Lexi, is super helpful and can offer some great advice and ideas too, which ever season you choose to visit.
