BelÀget i Driftless Region i sydvÀstra Wisconsin denna handbyggda Amish stuga sitter pÄ en Äs omgiven av 40 hektar skog och Àng för vandring och utforska. Lugn lantlig miljö för privatlivet men nÀra nog till Viroqua, Gays Mills eller Readstown för att shoppa matvaror etc. I huvudrummet hÄlls en vedeldad spis trivsam. Köket Àr fullt utrustat med spis, ugn, kylskÄp, brödrost, kaffekvarn och alla tallrikar och redskap. Sovrummet och loftet har bÄda queen size-sÀngar, plus en aerobed, packa och spela och en bÀddsoffa. En stereo / radio Àr tillgÀnglig för musik.
Det finns en Weber-vattenkokare för grillning och en eldstaden pÄ gÄrden för stjÀrnbröllopskampar.
Vi vÀlkomnar gÀsterna i alla tros och trosbekÀnnelser oavsett ras, kön eller sexuell lÀggning.

Great Weekend Getaway

Our family had a great weekend at the cabin. The cabin was exactly what we had expected and was perfect for myself, my husband, our 5 year old daughter, and our dog. Perfect sledding hill right outside the front door and plenty of trails to hike.

Lovely, cozy escape

This is a very comfortable place for a weekend or longer in the woods. It feels like staying at a friend's cabin--it is very comfortable and homey. The property around the cabin is stunning, especially along the stream.

Really nice place

Even during deer season, this place is quiet. And the view through the now-bare fall trees of the distant hills is perfect for just chilling out for a couple of days. Just the right balance of enclosed warmth and sunny window views for sitting around the warm wood stove.

Weekend Away for 2!

My husband and I were looking for a quiet weekend together. The cabin was perfect for 2! It is very remote and it was amazing to not hear traffic or other people. The neighboring towns are fun to explore and there are Amish goodies everywhere. We are already starting to plan another trip there!

Private Getaway

A perfectly peaceful and private setting in a breathtakingly beautiful part of Wisconsin. Easy access to any number of activities and adventures. The accommodation is cozy and well organized with friendly and helpful hosts who made themselves easily reachable through technology. My dog Scarlett and I stayed 4 days and were completely rejuvenated and enchanted. Such a special place.

Very peaceful place, done a lot of hiking on property. Oliver our dog really enjoyed freedom of running around. I wish snow falls on saturday instead sunday to enjoy that too. Planning to go back again

A beautiful secluded getaway

A very nice cabin on a beautiful piece of land surrounded by Amish farms. The only sounds were the sounds of nature and the occasional horse-drawn buggy. Check-in and check-out could not have been easier. Everything was very clean. Would definitely recommend and plan on coming back ourselves.

Wonderful stay at a beautiful cabon

The property is a lovely cabin on several acres of wild woods. We saw a variety of different birds and other animals, and enjoyed hiking to have a picnic in the meadow. Paul and Cynthia were very responsive when we had issues. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

Mushroom season

Loved it. Comfortable. Great porch. Many birds. Otherwise very quiet. Well supplied kitchen with many coffee options. Went to the region to hunt morels and trout. But weather was too warm so mostly relaxed on the porch or on the trails.

Deer Hunting

Great place for our deer hunting week. We had 2-3 guys in the cabin which was perfect. We did miss a television for the football games. It’s a little dark with only lamps for lighting. We most definitely stay again.

Cynthia and I are both artists, Cynthia is trained as an actor and puppeteer and also builds the puppets for shows she creates. We also work together, I'm a musician; saxophone and music production and arranging are my chief occupations.
We live and work in Chicago and have a daughter, Avalon who is 10 and who loves to spend time at the cabin.

Varför vÀrden valde detta boende

We bought this land in 2007 because we have always dreamed of having a place of quiet and solitude to retreat, heal and meditate. The land was the back 40 acres of a dairy farm; woods, hills and meadow with an apple orchard, perfect for hiking and exploring. Our neighbors/caretakers are an Amish family and they use a portion of the meadow for grazing.
The land was undeveloped and we put in a well for water, electrical service and a driveway from Trout Creek Road to the ridge where the cabin sits.

The log cabin was built for us by Irwin Schmucker, a local Amish craftsman.
We hope our guests enjoy the quiet and seclusion that we find here.

Vad som gör detta boende unikt

The Driftless Region is appealing to us because we have friends in the area and also because of it's unique topography and history. Untouched by the great glaciers, the hills and river valleys are ancient and uniquely scenic. The land was inhabited for millennia by Native American tribes who found rich land for hunting and fishing.
Nowdays the area has a mix of traditional and organic farming with a large Amish community. The town of Viroqua is close by on route 14 where you can find grocery, hardware, a nice food co op and restaurants. The area is also known for it's outstanding and plentiful trout streams, a prime destination for fly-fishing enthusiasts. We have enjoyed canoeing on the Wisconsin River, rentals are available in nearby Boscobel for day trips.
