Plats: Highland House Vacation Rental ligger ungefär en 30 minuters bilresa från huvudentrén till Yosemite National Park och 11 miles från Gold Rush-staden Mariposa. Stugan ligger en kort promenad från en liten butik på landsbygden och tvärs över gatan från busshållplatsen som tar resenärer till och från Yosemite. Höjden är 2500 ft i tallar och på en säsongsvikande vik med vilda liv och en mängd fåglar.

Historia: Stugan var hem för Newell Chamberlain, grundare av staden Midpines. Han publicerade artiklar och The Call of Gold - True Tales on the Gold Road to Yosemite, en bok om guldbrytning i området under 1930-talet.

Boende: Stugan är utrustad med kök, inklusive ugn, kokplatta, mikrovågsugn, dubbelt handfat, kylskåp, grytor, kastruller, redskap, tekanna, kaffebryggare, brödrost och mycket mer. Det finns en tvättmaskin och torktumlare i tvättstugan. Vardagsrummet har en matplats med utsikt över skogen och ett vardagsrum med en vacker utsikt över björnbäcken och den omgivande skogen. Wi-Fi och internet finns.

Sovarrangemang: Stugan har två sovrum nere och ett sovrum och loft på övervåningen. Nedervåningen finns det två kompletta badrum. Sovrum 1 har en dubbelsäng och rymlig sittgrupp, sovrum 2 har en full säng och privat badrum. Sovrum 3 har en queen size-säng och loftet har två enkelsängar. Rummen har garderober och bröst för kläder och förvaring. (sover upp till 8 personer)

Sängkläder och pappersvaror tillhandahålls tillsammans med tvättmedel, tvål och schampo. I köket hittar du socker, mjöl, kaffe, te, olja, vissa kryddor, diskmedel, pappershanddukar etc.

Lokala restauranger och shopping: Flera mycket bra restauranger ligger inom sju mil. En landsbutik ligger inom gångavstånd. Pioneer Market, en livsmedelsbutik med full service, ligger i Mariposa (7 mil).

We stayed here during our visit to Yosemite. It is about 35 minutes from the west entrance of the park. The kitchen was well stocked. The Pioneer market is 10 minutes away so we cooked in dinner for 2 nights. The prices at Pioneer Market were very reasonable for a vacation town. It was great to have a washer and dryer and laundry detergent was provided. The common spaces were very spacious and the cabin itself was charming. The bathrooms have a bit of an odd setup, but has everything you need. The host was very responsive. Would definitely stay here again if we visit Yosemite.

Home away from home

We loved our stay here! This home was a scenic drive away from Yosemite and was a perfect place to relax after a day at the park. There were only four of us and the house had so much room that we wished we had brought more family with us! Perfect place to stay near Yosemite ❤️

Great place for the family

Ideal location when visiting the Midpines/Mariposa area. The creek side location was beautiful. There was outside seating and dining areas, which were perfect in the mornings and at night. The internet worked well.

Cozy cabin, just 30 minutes from Yosemite

The cabin exceeds the photos online. Cozy, comfortable, and we’ll stocked kitchen. Linens were soft and plentiful, great place for a family with plenty of beds for everyone! We would have loved to stay longer.

Festive stay at Christmas!

We appreciate the effort the owner went to decorate the house for Christmas. It was cheery and festive, with a lit Christmas tree, holiday treats, and lots of cute decorations. The park, of course, was amazing. It was nice to come back to such a cozy cabin.

Spacious house nearby Yosemite

The house is spacious and well equipped. We had everything we need. The house is directly located at the 140 leading into Yosemite, so perfect for visits into the NP, the traffic is a bit noisy in the night and morning. It was too hot to sit on the terrace, but there are two and also chairs besides the creek.

Wonderful Cabin!

My elderly uncles stayed here for 10 days and had a great time! They "forgot" to check out on the designated date and the hosts were wonderful about accommodating them and making sure they got to their next destination. They loved the roomy, clean and cozy cabin which was well located for their Yosemite adventures. This cabin made all the difference in how they enjoyed the park. It was world's apart from staying in a hotel room.

This was a great stay for our family of 6! We got the YARTS bus passes to get us into Yosemite, and the YARTS bus stop was RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET from this rental! GREAT! There is also a great little old-town of Midpines, just 8 minutes away to walk around and enjoy to local culture!

Good Points.1. Reasonably priced.2. Convenient to the park.3. Comfortable for the 5 adults on our trip.4. Convenient to stores and restaurants.5. Excellent access to WiFi and cable.6. Host was always accessible and provided useful information prior to our trip.7. Interior of the building was neat and clean.Bad Points1. Interior of property is in need of updating and is not represented well by the pictures online.2.Landscaping of the lot was not well kept and was in need of maintenance.3. Surrounding areas did not present themselves well.Summary.This property fit our needs well because we were gone early and came back later in the day. Don't expect the property to look identical to the pictures online but as stated, it fit our needs very well. The host is a great asset to this property. Always responds and provides important information on the local area.

Family trip to Yosemite

We had a good visit- the house was well stocked with towels, blankets, kitchen tools, etc. We never figured out the drip coffee maker, but the keurig filled in and was well stocked. Washer and dryer were also handy. It was great to have a large dining room table we could all eat at comfortably.

A great visit with visiting family

My two brothers and a sister-in-law came to visit us from the east coast. We thought it would be great to take them to see Yosemite. We searched out this house back in December and thought it sounded like it would work. Turned out, it was perfect. It had lots of room, was very comfortable, and was fully equipped with everything we needed. We had a wonderful stay. Thanks for making it available to us vacation renters.

Great charming Cabin. Very clean. Nice hosts. Comfortable beds. Do not rely on GPS. The only issue is GPS took us off-road to boonies… the marker is Wrong on Google, Apple, Waze and Tesla nav. Just look for the sign and you won’t miss it.

Short Stay

Rustic, huge place, well appointed. Plenty of room for 3 adult couples or a huge family. Beds were comfortable. Could use some better pillows, but they we not bad. House is very close to the main highway, so lots of road noise well into the evening. This is a very wild area, in terms of outdoors. That said, the outside area around the home is poorly manicured, though that didn't stop us from enjoying it and the beautiful crystal-clear stream running thru the back area. The place is about a 5-minute drive back to Mariposa, that has plenty of cool dining options. It's about an hour drive to Yosemite Valley, mostly along the Merced River, which is amazing. In general, we felt we made a good choice staying here and would stay again.

Far below expectations

We stayed 15 minutes before deciding to leave and get a hotel. We found the location and property very depressing…not at all what we were expecting. If you are just looking for someplace to rest your head at night then setting out all day long, then this may be the place for you. But if you are expecting to enjoy some time sitting outside, relaxing and enjoying the view then I’d suggest looking elsewhere. I was unable to get into the VRBO app to cancel the reservation but a refund would only have been given if someone else had rented (highly unlikely at the last minute) Inside the house appeared clean with a well supplied kitchen and the owners were easy to get in touch with. Just a shabby depressing environment.

Perfect place to enjoy Yosemite and the surrounding area!

Finding a comfortable place for a family of 7 is no easy task. This house fit the bill just perfectly! The kitchen had everything we could have needed. The beds were comfortable. Everything was clean. Because of summer traffic, it took about an hour to get to the Arch Rock entrance of Yosemite, but the ride along the Merced River was a beautiful part of the journey. It was also nice to be so close to Mariposa. The house is listed as 3 bedroom, but there is a door between the two spaces in the loft which makes it feel like a 4 bedroom. Just be sure that the people sleeping in the loft are okay with coming downstairs to use the bathroom. It wasn’t a problem for us at all. Communication with the owner was pleasant and all messages were answered quickly. Highly recommended!
