A Wee Little Disappointed for the Price we paid
A nice house in a very quiet location with an amazing maintenance Person (I am very sorry, that I forgot your name!!),
but ...
- We used the Homeaway GPS coordinates to find the house. Fortunately, we met other guests there who told us, that we have to pick up the keys at the St. Mellion reception.
- We had the impression that the house was a part of the St. Mellion Resort, that our Kids could just walk over to the pools, but you have to drive at least 10 - 15 mins. to get there.
- Additionally, „The Oakridge People“ - that is what one „Sue“ at the Spa reception called us - are not entitled to get towels there. You have to rent them for £2 a piece ... Basically, she made us feel like 2nd class guests ... All of her colleagues were very friendly though, but they also told us about the restrictions for „The Oakridge People“.
- The German translation of the house description is abysmal and factually wrong (e.g. three bathtubs).
- At least in our point of view some rooms had a little unpleasant odor.
- The bedrooms are very small. If you want to open a suitcase you have to put it on a bed, because there is not enough room on the floor.
- The upstairs living area (with an XBox 360 and decent internet connection) is very nice!
To put this review into perspective: Before we stayed at Oakridge we stayed five nights in a cottage in Whitstable, Kent, and eight nights in a cottage on the Isle of Wight. We booked both through HomeAway, and both earned a full five star review!
