Are you ready to stay in a barn?
I never would have booked this property had the description been clearer about where the accommodations are located. The unit is inside a mostly empty, junk filled horse barn. They owners converted two empty stalls in to a cinder block apartment. That would have been fine if it had been clean as advertised, but there were cobwebs, dust, hair and grime on a lot of surfaces. The burners on the stove caught fire the one time I attempted to cook on them because they drip pans were so covered in grime and burned on food. It smelled musty and mildewy. The window unit only cooled the living room and didn't make much difference in the bedroom and the ceiling fan had cobwebs and dust on it and made so much noise if it was turned on any higher than low. The tenant across the barnway, left a note on the windshield of my car after I had been there for over 2 weeks asking me to call him asap. When I did call him, he asked me tons of questions and then told me that he needed to come in to my apartment to fix HIS breaker box. So his breaker box to his unit was located in my unit and to top it off...he had a key to my unit. Traveling along as a single femal, this did not sit well with me as he was a strange man who lied to the property owners about me. I didn't feel comfortable brining any of these issues to the owners attention, because I was traveling alone from 1000 miles away and I worked night shift at one of the local hospitals. I had to leave early due to some family medical emergencies back in Texas, and I gave the owners a 6 day notice and asked if they could help me out with a refund, but they refused and accused me of being a scam artist and trying to blackmail and extort them. I received over 10 messages from them threatening to sue me and harrass me. The only reason I even gave it one star is because it was quiet. The entire property appears to be in disrepair and it has made me never want to use VRBO's services again.
