Not as advertised, not family or senior friendly
We are four senior sisters who thought we'd rented a clean, bright house with a "fully equipped kitchen", a lovely screened porch and patio, to spend a week with our 5th sister to relax, catch up and watch some movies together. The pictures show a spotless comfortable place. What we found was a dark place that looked nothing like the VRBO site pictures. Dirty laundry in the laundry room hamper, other people's clothes in closet, dead bugs and dirt in window sills, sticky dishes in cupboards, two full fridge door shelves of open food containers, actual dirt/ dried spills in btm freezer bin, clogged master shower drain, dishes left in the dishwasher, two of us had to sleep on couch and recliner since our bed mattress was concave. Four TVs with no instruction as to how to use the remotes. Front yard strewn with storm debris- storm was several days prior to our arrival, woven seats of patio furniture had seats busted out, screened porch was filthy, with stacks of assorted chairs filling one end, dirty used ashtray on the filthy porch table- none of us smoke, house and porch screen doors in bad shape- needed to slap handles hard to open, and outer door screen loose/rattling, numerous holes in porch screens. It was painfully obvious this property was not cleaned, inspected or disinfected just prior to our scheduled arrival. We called the man in charge, and asked for reply. We didnt know we could only call and answer from outside the house, so missed the callbacks. When we texted him, telling him of the many problems we encountered, his responses were disrespectful, unprofessional and juvenile in tone. He did not believe the dirty conditions we reported, saying his cleaners said otherwise. We told him the place was not Senior or family friendly, as there was no way to get luggage in without climbing stairs. The rusted phone booth in the living room was full of partly filled liquor bottles. This place is only suitable for hard drinking partiers. Also a poorly kept " bar" off the patio. Not trusting that the place had been disinfected-we are in a pandemic- we went to a dollar store and spent $87 on disposable plates, cups, bakeware, etc. We disinfected the kitchen and bathrooms ourselves. We have rented vacation houses and condos through Vrbo every year since 2007 and have always found the places to be well kept, well equipped, and spotless, but this place was the exception to all standards.
It is not worthy of the site. The man in charge agreed to send a 1/3 refund , which has yet to happen, and is not nearly enough, as our vacation was ruined.
