Denna vackra bondgård ligger i 3 hektar av landsbygden, det finns mycket utomhus utrymme, med hängmattor att koppla av, massor av solstolar för alla, och vi förbiser landsbygden på alla sidor. Huset behåller mycket av originalets egenskaper, balkar och tegelverk, men har alla moderna bekvämligheter, stort kök, amerikansk stil kylskåp med ismaskin och filtrerat kallt vatten, diskmaskin mm stor matsal med stor förlängningsbord och 8 stolar, och ett stort vardagsrum med hörn svit, tv, dvd-spelare, stereo etc, massor av inomhus och utomhus spel, och ett stort bibliotek med böcker. Det finns en uteplats på baksidan med utsikt över poolen och fruktträdgården och det stora gräsmattaområdet. Huset har 2 separata trappor på vardera sidan av huset, alla med 2 dubbelrum och eget badrum, vilket gör det perfekt för familj eller vänner, eftersom du har egen sida av huset för privatliv, med eget duschtoalett .. Vi har också ett stort 2 hektar stort fält, perfekt för fotboll, cricket, människor utövar även sin golf här!Det finns gott om parkeringsplatser, och vi har ett stenhus grill för att äta utomhus. Den lokala staden Sauze Vaussais är bara en 5 minuters bilresa / halv timmes promenad, med restauranger, pubar, snabbköp, garage, banker, frisörer etc. Lagen området med vilda djur, och det finns gott om promenader och cykelvägar. De stora städerna Poiters, med dess stora temapark Futurescope, Niort och Angouleme ligger inom en timmes bilresa, dessa har massor av affärer restauranger Chateaux etc, Cognac är utmärkt för båtturer och Cognacprovning, dessa är mycket historiska med vacker arkitektur. Det finns massor av saker att göra och se i området, om du kan riva dig bort från poolen! 8 miles away är staden Ruffec, där floden Charente går igenom, det finns bra kajakpaddling här,
Poolen är säker med barnsäker lås, det finns gott om plats för rounder fotboll badmington etc

Un très bel endroit pour de beaux moments en famille

Nous avons passé 3 jours agréables dans cette charmante maison parfaitement équipée, au jardin merveilleux et très bien située ! Les photos et la description sont conformes à la réalité. Nous avons pu nous reposer et profiter tous ensemble, notamment grâce à la multitude de jeux et d'équipements. L'espace de vie est parfait (6 adultes et 2 enfants) et les chambres confortables. L'extérieur soigné est fantastique pour manger, flâner, jouer et se baigner. Mélanie est adorable, discrète et disponible. Un gros coup de cœur des petits comme des grands pour les dizaines de cochons d'Inde ! Ils sont adorables !

Erholung pur

Wir waren zum zweiten Mal auf der Durchreise an die Atlantikküste mit unseren Kindern (zwischen 7 und 19 Jahren) für zwei Tage bei Melanie und Richard. Das schönste für uns ist der riesige Garten mit dem großen, blitzeblanken Pool und die Ruhe. Das Haus ist sehr gut ausgestattet und sehr sauber. Melanie und Richard waren sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und unkompliziert. Es gibt es sehr viele Spiele für drinnen und draußen und sehr viele Meerschweinchen. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

Get away from it all, enjoy quality time in lovely countryside

Chatelet is beautifully situated in lovely countryside--surrounded by fields of sunflowers in full bloom, and hay being harvested. Waking up to birds singing, quiet sunshine streaming in the window, was truly refreshing. The house has been lovingly renovated, with attention paid to modern conveniences, and is very comfortable. The pool is super--large and sparkling clean. Our favorite thing about the house was the abundance of fun family activities that were available: croquet and other lawn games, tetherball, hammocks, swimming, board games, DVDs, relaxing on the many lounge chairs, and admiring the guinea pigs. Melanie was helpful before our arrival in suggesting possible activities, and was extremely prompt in replies to questions we had. She was welcoming and informative during check-in, but though she lives nearby we never felt that we were being watched as we enjoyed the property. It was a refreshing, marvelously relaxing week for our group (5 adults and 3 children). The only two slight imperfections that marred our time there were these: We had not noticed upon booking that the property description lists no clothes dryer. There is a clothes drying rack provided, but it is sometimes awkward in mixed groups to have clothing hanging out to dry in plain view. This wasn't a huge problem, just an unexpected one (due solely to our lack of noticing this in the property description). A more significant drawback was the lack of fast internet. When it was available, it was slow. This was frustrating, because we wanted to plan daily excursions and book tickets for later in our vacation, but because of the slow internet it was almost impossible to map locations or find out information about potential destinations. Again, if other guests come into their trips to Chatelet with this knowledge, they will be able to plan and work around this drawback. We have great memories of our trip here, and will without hesitation recommend it to friends of ours who might want a tranquil stay in the French countryside, within driving distance of many interesting sites to visit. We'd love to come back someday!

Family holiday

We've been home for 3 days and are already planning our next visit. Home from Home, the villa was beautiful. Lovely touches such as DVDs, CDs, garden games which added to our experience when the weather got too hot. We made full use of the BBQ, had the pool to our selves, which we made full use of. Melanie and Richard were brilliant hosts and gave us good tips for the area. Highly enjoyable holiday experience

What fantastic property and such lovely owners

We had a fantastic time here for the week in August 2018. The children loved every minute of the holiday. The swimming pool is a fantastic size and provided wonderful entertainment. The grounds are massive and the hammocks are very relaxing indeed. The farmhouse itself is gorgeous and the two sets of stairs allowed my older daughters their own part of the house which they really enjoyed. An extensive stock of DVDs provided some lovely family films in the evening and we even squeezed in a bit of free view watching too. I can not recommend this place highly enough it’s such a lovely place. What made it even better were Melanie and Richard who were on hand to offer advice and some excellent suggestions of places to visit as we were new to the area. A truly lovely holiday 😊 thank you Carolyn, Holly, Becky Thomas and Lily

A wonderful, well equiped property, with a fabulous garden.

Calme tranquilité idéale avec des enfants

Tout était comme sur le plan parfait. Excepté pour les heures d'arrivée et de départ que je n'ai pas trouvées sur le site, et j'ai ainsi perdu une 1/2 journée de location, devant repartir à 11 h le dernier jour.

Could it REALLY get any better?

This beautiful property is in an ideal location for househunting, holidays and 'get away from it all' short breaks. On arrival we were warmly welcomed by our hosts, Richard and Mel, who then showed us around the property where we met the menagerie of animals, the firm favourites being the runner ducks, although the guinea pigs who are in liberty in the garden were a close second. Our evening meals were on par with any first class restaurant and the breakfasts more than ample. The swimming pool was a welcome chill out after a busy day and there were many interesting things with which the children could entertain themselves, the trampoline being well used. There are many places well worth visiting near by, La Vallee des Singes is a must and the Silver Mines at Melle are very interesting. It is one of the best places in which we have ever stayed and will definitely go back there again and heartily recommend it as a 'must stay' as nothing was too much trouble for Richard and Mel....amazing hosts.

Perfection!!

he most beautiful gite we have stayed in! Run by the nicest people you could ever wish to meet! This was our first family holiday abroad with our children and we didn't want for anything! When we arrived late at night the inside of the gite was just 'wow', clean, spacious and has all the mod cons while still being a cute farmhouse. In the morning we woke up to discover huge gardens, crystal clear pool, trampoline, swings, hammocks, table tennis, free range guinea pigs and much much more! The owners were so welcoming and helpful and make the most delicious food...if you book in to eat with them you will not want to eat anywhere else again! This place is simply perfect, for families, couples or with friends! We will definitely be returning! Thank you so much for a fantastic holiday!!!!

What a shame!

Without doubt, a lovely house and garden, and well equipped. However, watch out for your disappearing deposit! Ours was withheld by the owners to cover a subsequent TV engineer's visit (to switch the TV channel from DVD back to DTV!) and a few other petty (and arguably invented) charges. In addition, if you like your own space on holiday, then this set up won't work for you because the owners are in the adjoined farmhouse and behave in an unboundaried way.

holiday in France

Thank you Melanie and Richard for a wonderful holiday at Chatenet. We were a group of eight sharing a family holiday. The house is beautiful and very spacious with two separate staircases which gives each family that extra privacy. Our children aged between five and fourteen had a wonderful time enjoying the swimming pool and badminton, along with the opportunity to enjoy the company of all the animals that made our holiday an extra special and relaxing experience. Melanie and Richard were always available to help with any queries which gave us that extra reassurance as they spoke English. The house was amazing and was equipped with everything that was needed to make a lovely holiday. We were fortunate to have good weather which meant we were able to enjoy our meals outdoors every evening in the lovely spacios garden. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

Amazing Place to Stay

We are a family of 4 (2 boys - 2 (nearly 3) & 5 at the time). We stayed here with another family (2 girls - Just 2 & just 4). It was perfect. The house is amazing. Worked perfectly having 2 staircases up to different bedroom areas. Gave us some private space. We had the bedrooms that lead off from the lounge and they (particularly the master bedroom) were beautiful. Slightly larger and more spacious than the other bedrooms, but we would have been happy with either. Really well equipped. Don't buy cleaning products until after you have arrived. There were loads in the house when we arrived and we had spent a fortune on buying new. The grounds are stunning. The kids loved the trampoline, badminton, boules and swing ball (and the adults did too). The pool is really well looked after. The animals were fantastic. The kids were allowed to find the chicken eggs, there were guinea pigs running around - although they stuck to one area. Just amazing. We sat by the pool one night and the owner gave us a bat detector which was brilliant. We also saw a glis glis (not sure of spelling). It is remote, but that is what we wanted. Little town just up the road with a supermarket. Loved the area though. Lots to visit. The river area near Ruffec was stunning. Spent lots of time here. It was about an hour and 10 mins to Ile de Re which is well worth the trip. Can't rate this place highly enough. It ticked all our boxes.
