Denna mysiga egendom, traditionellt möblerad med vedspis, ligger i utkanten av den lilla byn Garrigill. Denna 1600-talsfastighet har renoverats för att erbjuda en mycket hög standard för boende. Ladan har en öppen planlösningslounge och kök med timmerbrÀnnare (levereras med gott om timmer och tÀndning) med bekvÀma lÀdersoffor och fÄtölj, plus bord som kan fÀllas ut för att rymma upp till 6 personer. Det kompakta köket har ett Belfast-diskbÀnk, spis, inbyggd ugn och mikrovÄgsugn.
Ett stort sovrum pÄ övervÄningen med utsatt stenmur och takbjÀlkar med duschrum. BottenvÄningen pÄ bottenvÄningen pÄ baksidan av fastigheten Àr inredd och möblerad i rustik stil och inkluderar ocksÄ TV, PS3 plus spel, samt ett urval leksaker.
Den muromgÀrdade uteplatsen med grill och sittgrupp pÄ sidan av fastigheten har utsikt över vackert landskap och det finns gott om lokala promenader.
Det Àr en 2 minuters promenad till den lokala kyrkan, och mycket liten butik / postkontor, och bara 3 minuters promenad till den lokala Village Hall, dÀr det finns evenemang under hela Äret - hantverk fayres, fetes, grÀdde te etc.

Another excellent stay

Weve stayed her now three years running for our annual christmas break with friend. Yet again fabulous stay. Has all you need to chill and relax. Heres to next year.

Really relaxing

The cottage was well equipped and clean. Particularly liked all the books, games and DVDs for when the weather wasn't great. The area is beautiful and we got out most days apart from when storm Debi hit. Our dog loved it and it was nice to stay somewhere genuinely dog friendly. The only slight downside was the darkness inside the property but that's down to the building and part of what makes it so cosy.

Well needed R&R

Very cosy cottage, home made cake and flowers on entering made for a very warm welcome. Sauna and hot tub so very inviting after some beautiful walks in the surrounding area "ashgill falls" well worth the trek. Log fire made for very cosy evenings whist watching one of the many dvds on offer.

Lovely relaxing 4 night break

Spent 4 amazing nights at Gatecroft Barn in beautiful quiet village setting with fab walks especially the one to the waterfall. Barn was very well equipped and very cosy. Spa was an absolute luxury and was well used during our visit. Beds very comfortable and plenty of bedding provided as well as towels. Dogs were also well catered for and our 2 were very happy to be there and in their element out walking (1 is a collie and wanted to herd sheep, the other is a poochon so blended right in with the sheep). Would definitely recommend Gatecroft Barn and we’re looking to have a few nights here around Christmas time.

Excellent

Myself partener and 3 jack russells enjoyed our 2nd stay at gatecroft spa. Everything was perfect good comfart very clean enjoyed the relaxing spa room. Very quite and peaceful loads nice walks for our dogs. Nice flowers lemon drizzle and the dogs loved there treats. Thanks again for lovely stay and we will be back in the future.

Last minute break away with the dogs

Great location out in the open countryside but very secure garden area for our dogs so made it alot more relaxing for us not having to worry about them getting out, the cottage was really nicely done out, small and cosey but had all the main ameanities and the spa was a really nice touch too, never stayed anywhere before with the hot tub indoors which id imagine would be a god send in the winter only down side was it didnt have any dials to turn the temperature down on the hot tub and it never seemed to cool down even with the main doors open, so we didnt quite enjoy the hot tub as much as we normally do as it got quite unbearable but that is the only thing we would of changed about our stay just the temperature of the hot tub. Overall brilliant.

Great short stay

The property was very clean and well kept, the hot tub and sauna were very clean and great to use. The cottage was very cosy and comfortable.

Disappointed

On arrival the property was quite clean and tidy except for a blood stained plaster left in the bedroom. The bed was very uncomfortable and impossible to sleep in. The shower in the bathroom came out in a dribble making it difficult to use (the owners said to use the Spa shower but that is actually outside and it was freezing cold and although this may be acceptable to some people it was not an ideal solution for me) If I had known of these issues beforehand I would not have booked the property. I had booked for 7 nights but left early because after 3 nights of no sleep and no shower I just wanted to get out of there. I am aware my experience is not the same as most of the reviews for this property, but it just did not meet my expectations. I messaged the owners on the day I left to let them know it was empty - this is the reply: I’m sorry to hear that you were disappointed in the accommodation. It’s a shame that you didn’t get in touch prior to this. The majority of our guests indicate that the property is as described - cute and quirky. The property was cleaned and checked prior to your arrival. Water pressure can be an issue in older properties, however, the spa has a purpose built wet room with new power shower. Regards

Great Christmas Relax

Great spot to relax, spa was a bonus and the kids loved it, was difficult to get them our, weather was poor so we stayed in put the log fire on and played christmas games / watched Christmas films, was our 1st Christmas away from home and was definitely worth it, Kathryn was brilliant at keeping in contact, Great Christmas spent with my Girlfriend and 2 beautiful daughters

A wonderful location and splendid hot tub & Spa

The whole property was excellent, although a little more compact than was implied in the advert. We booked 4 adults, but seating 4 for a meal was achieved by borrowing a couple of chairs from the spa. The table on which to eat rather blocked the main door to the lounge/kitchen, but can easily be folded after use.

The best stay ever!

Stayed in Gatecroft second time and enjoyed it! Very clean and cosy, great location. Very friendly host, left treats for our dog, child and for us :) Enjoyed lemon drizzle. Excellent place to relax from the routine. Definitely recommend and will come again.

Relaxing break

This was our 2nd stay here after staying 2 years ago. I have got to mention that I was slightly disappointed this time as I felt the cleanliness was not what it was last time. There was dust and food crumbs in between the gaps on the sofas and the grill had not been cleaned from the last time it was used. I also noticed that the draining rack which used to be above the sink was gone so there was no where to place your pots once you had washed them, which was abit annoying. The mattress or probably the whole bed really needs replacing! I had 2 awful nights sleep as the mattress was so uncomfortable, my back was aching for a couple of days after our stay. And the actual bed moves and creeks quite a lot. The bowl and spoon which was last in the sauna to use for the sauna was not there so we were unable to use the sauna which was disappointing. I also struggled to get the hob to stay on the cooker (maybe because I’m useless with electric cookers) but after trying for 20 minutes I did try to call the hosts to ask for instructions on how to use it but there’s no reception so was unable to call. So not too sure how you would make contact with the hosts in an emergency unless you drove out of the village to gain mobile reception. But overall we did enjoy our stay and the hosts were kind enough to bake a lovely chocolate cake for my sons birthday which was really nice and thoughtful! The barn is definitely worth a visit but I think for me this time I was comparing it to our last stay and could notice the things which could of been better. It was also quite sad to see that a lot of the shops in Alston had closed or were closing down. Obviously due to Covid and now the cost of living they just can’t afford to stay open anymore. It was a real shame because it is a lovely little village.

This place is 10/10 you have beautiful views around you there is a beautiful waterfall close by, the place itself was very cosy you had plenty of films and board games, the spa area was amazing the neighbourhood is very friendly will 100% be coming back and will recommend it to anyone who wants to go away

Wonderful stay at Gatecroft!

Quaint, cosy cottage in the countryside with lots of lovely walks right on your doorstep. Goods: My husband and I stayed with our two friends and our puppies over an Aug weekend and had such a lovely time. The cottage comfortably sleeps 4, with the added benefit of a hot tub and spa in the adjoining building. Both seemed brand new, and super clean. There’s also a lovely cosy fireplace in the living room and lots of outdoor seating, with table and bbq if you’re lucky enough to get sunny days! I’d also highly suggest going out at night to see the starry sky, which is incredible in Garrigill! Suggestions: some storage for clothing and a mirror and plug point for those sleeping downstairs would be helpful. Also, a drying rack for dishes (maybe we missed this) and provision of some little body soaps for before the hot tub would be a nice touch for guests. However, these were just small things that certainly didn’t dampen the weekend. Would definitely recommend, thank you!

Lovely stay in the countryside

The property was clean and cosy and in a quiet little village. Bit of a remote area but we didn’t mind this too much. The hot tub room and sauna were absolutely great. Only downside is it wasn’t suitable for 4 adults (all family member) so weren’t able to share beds. There was no storage in the bedroom downstairs so it was a bit cramped but otherwise a lovely stay. The lemon cake was delicious!

Short break to Gatecroft spa

Delightful short break at Gatecroft spa .Thoroughly enjoyed using the spa facilities and felt owners most generous with settings and timings on jacuzzi , hot tub , especially as there was no additional charge for useage . Amazing location providing a relaxing , restorative break . Enjoyed the lemon cake , and felt cottage well stocked with those little extras we sometimes forget to pack ! , very informative guide for our stay and exceptional contact information before hand . The little extras

Lots of extra little touches for the stay, justcto ease you jnto the first day. Nice little village with a great relaxing time, great sun facing area for barbecue, chill and relax. Loved the great discussion with Ronnie, the long standing story telling man who grew up in the village and a true character, just like the cottage.

Cosy with fantastic facilities.

We've had pleasure staying in Gatecroft over weekend in June. The place was very clean and all set up for us to enjoy. Facilities are great bonus to this place and I can imagine coming back here again in winter. Plenty of walking and very friendly local people. We've had homemade cake (yum) and some refreshments waiting for us. Great addition is free parking in front of property, real fireplace and BBQ. This place has it all ! We used sauna and massive hot tub. I like how close it is to the cottage and how spacious it is. We've had amazing time at Gatecroft and hoping to come back again.

We visited the area a number of times with friends and just loved it.
The scenery is beautiful at any time of year, in any weather, but the walks up to the waterfall in winter are breath-taking, and it's wonderful to watch the salmon swimming up stream in the autumn literally 50 metres from the house.
We've always found the people in Garrigill extremely welcoming, and there are regular events - craft fairs, fireworks nights, Garrigill gala, carol singing, and even quoits in the summer
