Om boendet

Beläget i Metchosin i utkanten av Victoria, ligger vårt hem på havet 30 minuter från flygplatsen och den berömda Butchart Gardens och 45 minuter från BC Ferries Swartz Bay terminal. Det finns 3 golfbanor minuter bort - Olympic View Golf Course, Bear Moutain Resort Golf Course och Metchosin Golf Course. Vittig strand, en lång, grund strand perfekt för barn och vuxna är en 5 minuters promenad bort. Enkel åtkomst till vår lugna vik, där sälar regelbundet basar sig på klipporna och örnarna, svänger ofta över huvudet. Det största shoppingområdet ligger 10 minuter bort i Langford och det finns många restauranger inom 15 minuters bilresa.

Vi är 10 minuter från Royal Roads University och ca 15 minuter från Pearson College.

Sviten har en egen ingång och öppnar ut mot en uteplats och en trädgård med grönsaker. Gå ner på korta vägar och du har utsikt över viken, där du kan upptäcka sälar som solar sig på klipporna. Du kan gå ner till stranden, hoppa över klippor eller utforska havsstranden.

En hund är tillåten, förutsatt att
• De är sociala - vi har en ung, social skäggig kolli
• De stannar i sängen och soffan, eftersom vi har många gäster, varav några kan vara allergiska mot hunddräkt.

Sviten har ett slutet område, ca. 25'x40 'ansluten till sviten och yttergården är helt inhägnad och gästhundar är välkomna där med sina ägare.

Wonderful house, wonderful hosts. Bob and Jennifer are very welcoming , suite set up with everything you could need. Beautiful views from the gazebo watching the seals and shorebirds.

A True Gem!

Everything about Salty's by the Sea is wonderful - the suite, the property, the hosts and Fergus of course, the resident 4 legged host. The private table and fenced in area in the garden for the suite was wonderful for us and our dog to just chill. And the whole Metchosen area is a beautiful area to vacation, quaint rural type of surroundings with small beaches, and easy commute into Victoria if desired. Also a shout out to "My Chosen" a local restaurant and bakery that was a delightful bonus for our stay - great food and service! I highly recommend this destination for a west coast vibe.

Salty’s Towers

We recently spent 3 nights in this cosy and comfortable accommodation. We were greeted by generous and amicable hosts Rob and Jennifer who left food in the fridge for us to cover the first couple of days - how kind! We enjoyed the beautiful private cottage garden attached to the vrbo accommodation, and our hosts generously shared their own garden with its stunning views of the ocean. The entire property was fully fenced and totally safe for our little Yorkie-poo. We swam to a tiny island nearby via the hosts’ private beach front. The property was most conveniently located close to parks, walks, shops and restaurants nearby. Highly recommended.

Scenic Wonder

Properrty was beautiful and well kept, The suite was roomy and cosy with a personal touch. Kitchen area was well stocked. The suite was very clean and the garden areas were beautiful. The owners were very accomodating and friendly. Location and property was dog friendly, our dog loved the place. I would highly recommend this little piece of paradise.

Absolutely delightful

Very welcoming hosts who welcomed us into their lovely home, provided some delicious staples and some great advice about the locality. The view from the garden was absolutely breathtaking and we greatly enjoyed watching the array of wildlife. Thank you for a lovely few days.

A Little Slice of Heaven

Beautiful gardens and landscaping. Different areas to relax in: one we right outside the garden; one in the open overlooking the ocean with seals and geese; another covered area overlooking the aforementioned area; and one down below, almost at sea level in a sheltered area. Jen and Bob were great and had some breakfast items in the fridge along with some fruit. Only negative was there wasn’t a separate bedroom. Would stay there again.

Beautiful Metchosin

This little gem on the water was just what we needed for a few days. We were there to visit my brother and to attend Fired Up, a ceramic show and sale. The kitchen was very well stocked and we cooked two of our dinners ‘at home’ and ate out in Sooke one night. Showery weather kept us from enjoying the garden much but there’s a little alcove down by the water’s edge to watch the ocean. Sea otters romping and more! Thank you Bob and Jennifer.

Salty's by the Sea

Bob and Jennifer and Fergus were wonderful hosts. So nice to be greeted in person! The seperate suite had everything needed to be self sufficient. The gift of first meal groceries and fresh fruit was very much appreciated and a very thoughtful addition by the hosts. The secluded bay, the lush gardens and the seperate patio area provided so many places to rest and retreat. I highly recommend Salty's by the Sea and hope to return next time I'm vacationing on the island.

Ocean side

We totally enjoyed our stay at Salty's by the Sea! Being next to the ocean and watching the seals and otters; birds; hikes that were close by, made it all in all a great time. Having a little alcove (to buffer the sea breeze) to sit and take in the ocean was relaxing and calming. Bob and Jennifer made our stay comfortable right from the beginning, with some good and refreshments to tied us over until we could grocery shop. Thank you!

A far better choice than commercial lodgings!

Why would anyone want to stay in a noisy, small hotel room, hearing all the guests clump along the hallways and traffic noise below. This 600 sq ft suite is fully equipped with the best ocean view in the area, and the pictures are real, taken right from the property. Witty's Lagoon, a large park with waterfalls and trails is right nearby. Nothing beats a quiet, restful stay and the hosts were great. We'll be back.

Breath taking

The property was such a lovely, well kept place to relax with a view of the waters like no other. We watched the seals, otter's and fowl for hours on end . The hosts were very kind and helpful . We would certainly visit there again .

Total Relaxation

We had an absolutely wonderful time. The pictures don't do justice, the view over the private cove was incredible and we could spend the day watching all the different birds and animals that make this there home. The accommodation were very comfortable and had everything needed for our stay.

Salty's Seaside Get-Away

Absolutely lovely location on a quiet oceanside bay. Spent many hours watching the kingfishers and herons stalking fish, seals slumbering on the rocks and otters teaching their offspring to fish. For a change of pace we explored a stunning seaside park within walking distance meandering along the well-marked trails, relaxing on craggy rocks enjoying the view, shaded by beautiful arbutus trees. The lodging unit was very comfortable and had absolutely everything we needed. Not a far drive to Victoria for site-seeing and very close to the Galloping Goose biking/walking trails for some exercise. Excellent restaurant, pizza place and brew pub within a 10 minute drive. The hosts genuinely strive to make your stay comfortable and homey. They generously shared their garden with us (yummy fresh raspberries every day!) and allowed us the use of their gazebo sheltered viewpoint. Our dog fell in love with Fergus, their bouncy bearded collie ambassador. Thank you Fergus, Jennifer and Bob for sharing your little piece of paradise with us. We will definitely be returning! Beautiful retreat by the sea!

My wife and I and our standard poodle enjoyed 3 nights at this magical place. Robert and Jennifer are incredible hosts. They met us the night of our arrival and gave us tips on where we could have dinner after our long day of travel. We spent most of our time enjoying the quiet beauty of the gardens and exquisite view of the sea - complete with seals, eagles and herons. The fridge was full of breakfast foods including eggs, bread, apples, yogurt and bananas. We have been to many wonderful VRBO homes, but have never experienced kinder and caring hosts!

A Very Special Place

My sister and I stayed at Bob and Jennifer's lovely suite for three nights. They were wonderful hosts who thought of everything to make our time special and easy. Everything was provided, including food and drinks for breakfast. The suite was perfect for us and in a great location near Langford where we were visiting family. I can not say enough about being able to stay in lovely Metchosin in a private cove on the ocean. The views were unbelievable- a photo perfect place. There were chairs to sit out and relax and enjoy the ocean and wildlife (lots of seals sunning themselves on the rocks each day). We are looking forward to returning to this special place.

Absolutely Restorative!

This property backs onto the ocean and is everything that I hoped it would be! From a protected little alcove I watched a river otter eating crab, great blue herons fishing and a bob of seals sunning themselves. The wildlife as the tide comes and goes is amazing-and so are these hosts! From offering a blanket to keep myself warm as I bird watched (they even have a pair of binoculars in the suite) to providing great advice about what to see and do in the area-they are superb hosts. I booked this as a retreat for myself and it was so much more-I left feeling refreshed and relaxed. One of the bonuses of this place is that it is only about 25 minutes from the Victorian waterfront-an easy drive to go for a seafood supper. I would give a higher rating if I could 7 out of 5-I would stay again in a heartbeat!
